Rutgers basketball recruiting: Bryce Dortch set for Tuesday commitment

Bigtime recruit Bryce Dortch, a Rutgers basketball target, is set to make his announcement on Tuesday.

The recruitment of Bryce Dortch is winding down, with the Rutgers basketball target set to announce next week.

Dortch will announce his college decision on Tuesday the standout forward announced via his social media. He recently took an official visit to Rutgers. He was accompanied by his parents on the trip.

Dortch is a 6-foot-7 forward at Brimmer & May School (Chestnut Hill, MA) and a member of the 2024 recruiting class. He is a consensus three-star who ranked the. 125 player in the nation according to Rivals.

With the ability to stretch the floor and penetrate, Dortch has a strong offer list that includes UMass, Providence, Seton Hall, Temple, Texas A&M, VCU and Virginia Tech along with several other programs.

He announced his finalists as Rutgers, Temple and Virginia Tech.

Getting his parents to Rutgers as part of his official visit last weekend was a big step for Dortch.

“They liked how the staff communicated,” Dortch said after his official visit. “How they would use me and made it clear what my future would look like if I were to commit.”

The 2024 recruiting class for Rutgers basketball is off to a strong start and features five-star Airious Bailey and center Lathan Sommerville.

Bryce Dortch is one of the top players in the 2024 recruiting class. He just took an official visit to Rutgers.

Bryce Dortch is coming off an official visit to the Rutgers men’s basketball program that he says helped deepen his relationship with the program.

And not just his relationship, but the relationship his parents have with the program as well.

A class of 2024 recruit, Dortch is a 6-foot-7 forward at Brimmer & May School (Chestnut Hill, MA). He is ranked theNo. 125 player in the nation according to Rivals.

His offer list includes UMass, Providence, Seton Hall, Temple, Texas A&M, VCU and Virginia Tech along with several other programs.

Saying that the “visit was good,” Dortch saw his weekend official visit as helpful in his relationship with Rutgers.

“I got a better understanding on how the coaches would use me,” Dortch said.

“(Also), my parents saw the facilities and campus.”

Interacting with the Rutgers staff, who Dortch communicates with frequently and regularly, was something that was furthered during the course of the weekend.

“I spent the most time with coach T.J. Thompson but it was great (overall),” Dortch said. “I got to be with a lot of the staff.”

His parents being on campus was a major reason why Dortch wanted to take the official visit to Rutgers.

Dortch said he might possibly take an official visit to Temple or Virginia Tech this summer.

There is some comfort for the recruit when it comes to being on campus. Last September, Dortch took an unofficial visit to Rutgers as well.

Bryce Dortch previews his Rutgers basketball official visit: ‘I wanted to let my parents get a chance to see the school’

Four-star forward Bryce Dortch is looking forward to his upcoming official visit to Rutgers.

Four-star small forward Bryce Dortch will be taking a visit to Rutgers basketball next week for an official visit, this as the Big Ten program continues to do well in his recruitment.

Ranked the No. 125 player in the nation according to Rivals, Dortch is a 6-foot-7 forwad at Brimmer & May School (Chestnut Hill, MA). He recently took an official visit to Marquette and holds an offer list that includes UMass, Providence, Seton Hall, Temple, Texas A&M, VCU and Virginia Tech among others.

Dortch is a class of 2024 recruit.

His return visit to Rutgers, he said, is based on his previous trip to the Scarlet Knights this past fall. He says that a “great relationship” with the Rutgers coaching staff is standing out about the program.

“I’ve been there for an unofficial before and I enjoyed it,” Dortch told Rutgers Wire this week.

“Also, I wanted to let my parents get a chance to see the school.”

His visit to Rutgers is scheduled for June 2.

As for his hopes for the official visit, Dortch said it is simple in terms of what he is looking for.

“My parents’ reaction because it is their first time seeing the school,” Dortch said. “Like I said, I’ve been on campus before and seen a-lot of it. I’m also looking to see stuff that has been added on campus and stuff I haven’t seen (yet).”

Dortch doesn’t have any other visits scheduled “as of right now” although he said might schedule an official visit to Virginia Tech. In terms of a timetable, Dortch said he is letting the process play out right now.

“I’m not sure,” Dortch said about a potential timetable. “Things have been picking up speed but I’m trying to find the right fit as of right now.”
