AEW Dynamite results: Hobbs grabs the ring, Danhausen is clutch, MJF is speechless

Sometimes AEW just mashes the gas ahead of a pay-per-view and it’s kind of bonkers for the better part of a week. That feeling is setting in again as the Cow Palace welcomes the final AEW Dynamite ahead of Revolution this weekend.

That card, as you might have heard, will be headlined by a 60-minute Iron Man match between MJF and Bryan Danielson with the former’s beloved Triple B belt (better known as the AEW World Championship) at stake. It’s only logical, then, that both men will be on tonight’s show to have what’s certain to be one more explosive face-to-face meeting before they go to war on Sunday.

There’s also going to be a wild match tonight that is usually part of Revolution proper. Perhaps because the main event is going an hour, the Face of the Revolution Ladder match got bumped to free TV. That’s good news for anyone tuning in tonight, however, as it’s sure to be something of a spectacle.

Another Revolution bout that still needs to have its last question mark replaced is the four-way tag team championship match. We’ll find out who’s joining The Gunns, The Acclaimed and Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett in that one after the Casino Tag Team Battle Royale on Dynamite.

Oh, and there are two championship matched tonight as well. Orange Cassidy gets a (very) big test in the form of Big Bill to retain his All-Atlantic Championship, while Hook puts his FTW Championship on the line against Matt Hardy.

Opening Bell: Pre-Revolution AEW shows, Roman Reigns scheduled for SmackDown

Welcome to the Opening Bell, where we round up what’s been announced for WWE (Raw and SmackDown) and AEW (Dynamite and Rampage) programming for the week we’ve just begun.

WWE Raw preview – Monday, Feb. 27, Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Mich.

WWE has blessed us with a lot more insight into what to expect this Monday than some weeks, when it’s like three hours before the show and there’s been one match and one other segment promoted. For Grand Rapids, there’s much more starting with a tag team title match pitting Becky Lynch and Lita against Damage CTRL. Lita with WWE gold in the Year of Our Lord 2023 would be pretty wild, but we’re close enough that it feels quite possible.

Speaking of things no one saw coming, Omos‘ challenge to Brock Lesnar falls into that same category. The Nigerian Giant is awaiting a response, so we’ll see if the Beast Incarnate shows up to give him one this week.

Who’s ready for Asuka? Carmella claims she is, but that might not actually be the case since the Empress of Tomorrow is acting spookier and more unpredictable than ever. We’ll see what’s what when they compete on Raw.

  • The Miz will host a WrestleMania edition of Miz TV and perhaps discuss his own plans for the Showcase of the Immortals

AEW Dynamite preview – Wednesday, March 1, Cow Palace, San Francisco

Though there are no actual cows at the Cow Palace, it’s certainly a historic venue and a fitting one for the final Dynamite before Revolution. As such, it’s a loaded show that will answer who will be the Face of the Revolution with the ladder match of the same name. A bunch of big and intriguing names are in it, with Samoa Joe on commentary, so it should be fun.

Another bout that could be high on entertainment value is the Casino Tag Team Battle Royale. This one will have a direct effect on the Revolution card, as the winning team will be entered into the four-way dance for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

And if you want a final dose of dueling microphones before the PPV, you’ll get it for the biggest match on the card as MJF and Bryan Danielson will get their final say. The champ, as he is wont to do, took things too far last week, which led to punches being thrown. We’d be shocked if there wasn’t a high chance of that happening again this Wednesday.

WWE SmackDown preview – Friday, March 3, Capital One Arena, Washington D.C.

The nation’s capital plays host to SmackDown this week, and the big news is that Roman Reigns is scheduled to appear. The Tribal Chief has been sitting in the background watching drama continue to swirl around the Bloodline even after he defeated Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber. What will the champ have to say?

A pair of women’s matches have also been announced for the show. Rhea Ripley, who is pursuing the SmackDown title at WrestleMania, will battle Liv Morgan in a match that Charlotte Flair will no doubt be watching closely. Plus Ronda Rousey, who didn’t appear to know who Tegan Nox was last week, will tag with BFF Shayna Baszler to face Nox and Natalya.

AEW Rampage preview – Friday, March 1, Cow Palace, San Francisco

Two nights before Revolution, AEW Rampage is live from the Cow Palace. Live editions of the show are always that little bit better than the recorded ones, and this should be no different.

No matches have been announced yet, but that could change even prior to Dynamite this week, so keep an eye on AEW’s social media accounts for some hints on what will be offered up this Friday.

AEW Revolution in San Francisco is the first AEW PPV of 2023. Here’s everything you need to know, including date, start time and card.

If you were to ask a pro wrestling fan what AEW Revolution is all about, they’d probably respond with something like, “well, it’s the first AEW pay-per-view of the year!”

Indeed it is. Though Revolution hasn’t had much of a chance to build up its own unique identity yet — in large part due to it being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in two years of its brief history — it has some built-in importance as the PPV that really kicks a year in AEW into gear.

It also has a history of AEW World Championship main events, and the 2023 event should be no different. MJF hasn’t held the title all that long, but he’ll get a test worthy of a legendary reign: a 60-minute Iron Man match against Bryan Danielson. It’s the kind of bout that automatically makes fans think better of anyone who turns in a top notch performance, so it stands the chance of boosting MJF’s in-ring status to the same level of esteem his microphone work is held in.

The length of that match means this card might be slightly lower in terms of number of matches than a typical Revolution (there were 13 bouts last year, including those on the pre-show). That said, there could be more added even in this final week.

We’ll add those if needed, but for now, here’s everything you need to know for Revolution in San Francisco.

AEW Dynamite results: Top feuds heat up in Phoenix

Get live AEW Dynamite results for Feb. 22, 2023, with a tag team battle royale and Tony Khan delivering “an important announcement.”

Phoenix, get ready to light the fuse. Less than two weeks out from AEW Revolution, Dynamite is coming to us from the Footprint Center with a show that will hopefully set up more of the PPV card — or at least get us much closer to some confirmed matches.

There are, so far, just four announced bouts for San Francisco. One of them is a four-way battle for the AEW World Tag Team Championship, which was only recently won by The Gunns. The Acclaimed, the prior champs, will be in that match too. One other team will be decided tonight in a Tag Team Battle Royale, which could be amazing, a mess or some combination of the two.

Jon Moxley already has a dance partner for Revolution, but he’ll be in action tonight against Evil Uno. Hangman Adam Page wanted the Dark Order to stay out of his fights, but Uno reverted to his previously more assertive personality and took this one, so … whatever happens is on him, we guess.

Saraya doesn’t have a match set yet for next weekend, but she’s been at the very center of the “homegrown vs. not from here” dynamic that’s been sweeping the women’s division for weeks. She’ll take on Skye Blue in Phoenix, but with all respect to Skye (who we really like), all eyes will be on who else might try to play a role in or after their match.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t also mention that Tony Khan is said to have an “important announcement” for this show. While there are a bunch of fun things it could be (CM Punk is returning! Jay White is on his way! Forbidden Door 2 is happening!), it would arguably me most satisfying if it simply solidified more of the Revolution slate.

WWE Raw preview – Monday, Feb. 20, Canadian Tire Centre, Ottawa

Sami Zayn came up short in his heroic effort to topple Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of Canadian WWE stars hunting for gold.

After surviving the Men’s Elimination Chamber match with his United States Championship intact, Austin Theory felt good enough to issue an open challenge for this week’s episode of Raw. As fate would have it, the challenge was answered by Edge, who must be feeling good himself after a victory over The Judgment Day in Montreal.

Since Theory has been on a quest to put anyone he considers the past beneath him, he should really enjoy this … unless he loses, of course. We’ll find out Monday night.

The other match WWE has promoted will see Mustafa Ali go up against Dolph Ziggler. Ali has been adamant that Ziggler keeps getting opportunities not afforded to him, then refused to team up for the recent tag team tournament. Can he pay Dolph back in Montreal?

AEW Dynamite preview – Wednesday, Feb. 22, Footprint Center, Phoenix

When Tony Khan talks, the pro wrestling world usually listens. AEW’s CEO, GM and Head of Creative is teasing an important announcement for this week in Phoenix, which is sure to be the subject of much speculation over the first part of this week.

Several matches have been advertised for this week’s show, starting with Orange Cassidy defending his All-Atlantic Championship against Wheeler Yuta. Jon Moxley will take on a suddenly more assertive Evil Uno, while Skye Blue tries to upset Saraya. Last but certainly not least, The Acclaimed will go up against Big Bill and Lee Moriarty.

Perhaps the most interesting one, however, is a tag team battle royale. One duo will emerge with a shot at The Gunns at Revolution, except it will only be one of three other teams facing the tag team champs there. Got that?

Oh, and there are some non-match segments to look forward to in Phoenix for good measure:

WWE SmackDown preview – Friday, Feb. 24, Ford Center, Evansville, IN

It’s not unusual for WWE to play things close to the vest about SmackDown the week after a premium live event, which is the situation we’re in now. One match we know will take place in Indiana will see Karrion Kross face off again with Rey Mysterio, as their “hey that’s right, they’re still feuding” bit continues.

It’s worth noting that SmackDown has been the primary driver of the Bloodline story for the past few months, so the fallout from Elimination Chamber at the top of the card is likely to hit here. That alone might be reason enough to tune in Friday night.

AEW Rampage preview – Friday, Feb. 24, Footprint Center, Phoenix (recorded on Feb. 22)

Another week, another time where we don’t have any pre-announced matches for Rampage. We’re coming up quickly on Revolution, however, which means this week’s show could be more significant than most pre-recorded episodes. Keep a close eye on Dynamite on Wednesday to see what ends up being revealed.

AEW Dynamite results: Ruby wins but has had it with women’s division turmoil

Live AEW Dynamite results for Feb. 15, 2023 from Laredo, TX, including a three-way battle between Toni Storm, Britt Baker and Ruby Soho.

It’s time for the first part of a little Texas two-step for AEW. Tonight it’s Dynamite from Laredo, and the path to Revolution should start getting a bit more clearly illuminated.

But the highlight of tonight’s show should be the in-ring action, which will be plentiful and varied. The headline bout is a Texas Tornado tag team match (never more appropriate than when it’s, you know, really in Texas) that features Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli going up against Rush and Preston Vance.

Want an even bigger tag team match? We’ve got that too. Orange Cassidy, The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass are on one side of it, with Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt on the other.

The women’s division has been full of intrigue, and Ruby Soho has been in the middle of most of it. She’ll experience that in the most direct way possible in Laredo, as she’s slated to be in a three-way dance that also involves Toni Storm and Britt Baker. Is this the night where Soho will have to pick a side?

There’s much more, as well. Even AEW World Champion MJF will appear, even though he’s made it clear he’d rather not. Will be run scared again from his Revolution opponent, Bryan Danielson, or has he finally found his courage ahead of the pay-per-view?

WWE Raw preview – Monday, November 14, KFC Yum! Center, Louisville, KY

Any show with “Yum!” in the name of the venue can’t help but appear fun (and yes, we know that’s an actual part of the company’s name). What could be truly entertaining is seeing The Miz apologize for what he’s done with regard to Dexter Lumis. But will it be a sincere act of contrition, or simply to save his own hide? History doesn’t make the former a favorite, let’s just say that.

Finn Balor attempted to accept Seth Rollins‘ open challenge for the United States Championship last week but had those plans derailed by The O.C. This week he’ll get his shot at Rollins … but not for the title. Oh well.

Also, Matt Riddle will continue his ongoing feud with Alpha Academy when he goes one-on-one with Chad Gable. We don’t have anything witty to add to this one, so we’ll just say it sounds like a good matchup and there will probably be bongo/weed jokes of some sort involved.

AEW Dynamite preview – Wednesday, November 16, Total Mortgage Arena, Bridgeport, CT

Ayyyyy let’s get some mortgages everyone! Jokes aside, AEW is trying to come into Full Gear hot as it heads to Connecticut for the final Dynamite before Saturday’s PPV.

Two big multi-person matches are on tap. Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli will team up to face Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara just three days before all four of them throw down for Jericho’s ROH World Championship. Plus Death Triangle, which has had some stirrings of internal dissent lately, tries to get on the same page as they take on Top Flight and AR Fox.

(And they may need to be if a certain trio of shadowbanned stars are coming back at Full Gear.)

We’ll hear from both Jon Moxley and MJF ahead of their titanic main event in Newark. The Acclaimed will debut their new music video. Plus more:

WWE SmackDown preview – Friday, November 18, XL Center, Hartford, CT

Wow, Connecticut is the center of the pro wrestling world this week, at least for a few days! We know a bit more about what’s going to be in store on SmackDown than we often do at the beginning of the week as well.

For starters, the first round of the SmackDown World Cup isn’t over yet, so Butch and Sami Zayn will have their bout this Friday. It’s also an extension of the beef between the Bloodline and the Brawling Brutes, which just heated up again last week. Another first round match will pit Ricochet against Mustafa Ali in what’s sure to be a high-flying encounter.

In the women’s division, Shotzi earned her shot at Ronda Rousey by emerging from a Six-Pack Challenge match last week, but she immediately ran afoul of the champ and her BFF Shayna Baszler. She’ll get a chance at some payback on SmackDown, at least when it comes to Baszler.

AEW Rampage preview – Friday, November 18, Prudential Center, Newark

‘Twas the night before Full Gear, and we have a sense that pretty much everyone will be stirring as the final teeth on the gears lock into place. And there’s a crazy dream match of the type you can hardly believe is on U.S. TV to boot: Eddie Kingston and Ortiz vs. Jun Akiyama and Kunosuke Takeshita. Seriously, read that again and go “wow.”

We actually don’t know what else is on the Rampage slate, but one assumes there might be more tournament matches, and perhaps it will be confirmed The Elite is returning. It’s a Rampage that has more than the typical amount of intrigue, for sure.

AEW Full Gear preview: When and where it’s going down, what to expect

Because AEW only has four pay-per-views a year, there’s always a chance that things will change up a bit around the promotion between each one. But to say that some stuff has gone down since All Out in early September would be a wild understatement.

CM Punk, who won the AEW World Championship that night, is gone, perhaps forever. None of the company’s founding EVPs have been around either, following the most surreal post-event press conference in pro wrestling history.

There have been other absences too, including that of the House of Black (though they appear to be on their way back soon). And there have been notable arrivals, none bigger than that of Saraya, formerly Paige during her WWE days.

Some indicators of lagging interest in AEW, including TV ratings and live event attendance, could be related to all the upheaval. Hitting a home run with Full Gear would certainly help, and fortunately, there’s a much anticipated main event to bat cleanup. Jon Moxley has been the heart and soul of the company just as his promos declare, and MJF is quite simply one of the best all-around young talents in the business (as he’s also fond of pointing out).

Their showdown anchors another very full PPV card that includes four other title matches, a tournament final that will determine either Moxley or MJF’s first challenger, Saraya’s in-ring debut, and a classic grudge match inside a steel cage. Given Tony Khan’s penchant for adding matches during event week, there could still be more in store as well.

Whether it’s a true reset and turning of the page or simply a fun night of pro wrestling, Full Gear definitely has the potential to deliver.

WWE Raw preview – Monday, October 24, Spectrum Center, Charlotte

It’s perhaps only fitting that this week’s Raw is from the Queen City, as two of its hottest stars continue their feud to determine who will rule as Raw Women’s Champion. Bayley would like that title to prove that Damage CTRL has complete control over the women’s division, but Bianca Belair has proven to be resilient even as she’s seen her allies fade away. Bayley couldn’t get the job done at Extreme Rules, so might this be her last shot at Belair for a while if she loses?

The Judgment Day is another faction that has run roughshod over Raw in recent months, but AJ Styles summoning The O.C. to aid him in his fight might have been the first step toward changing that status quo. One of this week’s matches might hold a clue, as Karl Anderson goes one-on-one with Finn Balor. Then again, things rarely stay that way when The Judgment Day is involved …

AEW Dynamite preview – Wednesday, October 26, Chartway Arena, Norfolk, VA

Dynamite is back on its normal night this week, and AEW World Champion Jon Moxley is right back to work. After his title defense last week had to be stopped early due to an unfortunate injury to Hangman Adam Page, Mox is undoubtedly itching to return to action, and he’ll get his chance this week by defending his gold against Penta El Zero M.

Another match with significant championship implications will see FTR take on Swerve In Our Glory for the right to be the No. 1 contenders to The Acclaimed. Will FTR get a chance to add another set of titles to their haul, or will Swerve and Keith Lee earn an opportunity to avenge their own championship defeat?

Also on the card for Norfolk:

WWE SmackDown preview – Friday, October 28, Enterprise Center, St. Louis

The Tribal Chief doesn’t have to appear on TV every week since he has the Bloodline to watch over his domain. But there have been fractures forming within his wrestling family, ones that his Crown Jewel opponent, Logan Paul, attempted to widen last week before knocking out Jey Uso.

With that in mind, Roman Reigns will be in the house in St. Louis, attempting to get his own house in order. Can he settle things down within the Bloodline before he defends his titles in Saudi Arabia?

Speaking of the Bloodline, Solo Sikoa and Sami Zayn have proven to be a tight and cohesive duo. They’ll look to show those qualities off again against the Brawling Brutes team of Butch and Ridge Holland, who should be plenty fired up after the Bloodline laid a beating on Sheamus.

And Hit Row has a new problem in the form of Legado Del Fantasma. Even worse, they’re outnumbered, so will have to find a partner to engage LDF in six-man combat on SmackDown.

AEW Rampage preview – Friday, October 28, Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT

Rampage is live again this week, which has been happening more often this fall as next week’s show is also live. With that being the case, it’s a bit surprising that AEW hasn’t revealed any matches yet for Uncasville, but you can bet that will change by Wednesday. Opening Bell: DX reunion on Raw’s season premiere, Dynamite goes North

Get set for the week in WWE and AEW with Opening Bell: quick previews of Raw, SmackDown, Dynamite and Rampage.

Welcome to the Opening Bell, where we round up what’s been announced for WWE (Raw and SmackDown) and AEW (Dynamite and Rampage) programming for the week we’ve just begun.

WWE Raw preview – Monday, October 10, Barclays Center, Brooklyn

Where Brooklyn at? Probably at Barclays Center for the season premiere of Raw. WWE is going hard on the nostalgia front for this one, promoting a DX 25th anniversary reunion that’ll have everyone you know and love except for one blonde guy you may remember who works for another company. But more on Daddy Ass in a bit.

(Also, it’s been 25 years since D-Generation X first hit the scene? Wow.)

Roman Reigns and the Bloodline will also be on hand, because you can’t have a season premiere without your top star. Or you shouldn’t, anyway. With Extreme Rules in the rear view mirror, where Reigns wasn’t booked anyway, he can turn his full attention to Logan Paul, who he’ll face at Crown Jewel in just a few weeks.

AEW Dynamite preview – Wednesday, October 12, Coca-Cola Coliseum, Toronto

There are few guarantees in pro wrestling or life in general, but for something that is as close to a sure thing as possible, consider the AEW Dynamite debut in Toronto this week and how hot the crowd will be. While numerous people have suggested AEW has perhaps run some eastern and midwest U.S. markets too often, this should be a very live show considering how fans have clamored for the company to do a Canadian swing.

We know a bit about what is planned for Dynamite too. Chris Jericho will put his status as “The Ocho” on the line by defending his ROH World Championship against Bryan Danielson. Jericho will get home country love, but the American Dragon is over everywhere, so this should be a very fun encounter particularly in Toronto.

Billy Gunn, the one DX member who is not invited to the Raw reunion, will have his hands full anyway as he takes on Swerve Strickland. Considering Swerve won’t stay out of the tag team champs’ business, you can bet The Acclaimed will probably arrive for this one as well.

And a former friendship turned sour will be showcased when “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry faces Luchasaurus. The one-time tag team champions were bound to collide when the dinosaur man sided with Christian Cage, making this match as inevitable as Thanos.

Wait, that’s not all (said in infomercial voice)! Orange Cassidy still hasn’t won AEW gold, but he’ll get another chance when he faces Pac again for the All-Atlantic Championship. So this is definitely a worthy debut show all told.

WWE SmackDown preview – Friday, October 14, Smoothie King Center, New Orleans

As is normal when we’re at the beginning of a week, we only have a small snippet of what will happen this Friday on SmackDown in NOLA. Sami Zayn, the Honorary Uce, will take on Kofi Kingston in a match that spun out of things that went down on last week’s show. Can he prove to Jey Uso that he has things under control when left to his own devices?

Also, LA Knight is back! In the latest example of trying to kill something you’ve created. In this case, he’ll be attempting to put his Max Dupri persona behind him when he battles Mansoor of the Maximum Male Models.

Oh yeah, and maybe that Bray Wyatt fellow everyone seems to be talking about will make an appearance on SmackDown …

AEW Rampage preview – Friday, October 14, Coca-Cola Coliseum, Toronto (taped on October 13)

This week’s Rampage is an unusual one: It’s not live, but it’s also not being recorded after Dynamite on Wednesday night. Instead, it will be taped during a separate show in Toronto on Thursday evening.

We’re not sure of any matches definitively set for Rampage, but as is typically the case, we should know at least two by the end of Dynamite.
