Notre Dame in NFL: Watch – Chase Claypool stars again in Steelers domination of Browns

Chase Claypool was at it again on Sunday

Chase Claypool is wasting no time making himself a household name in the NFL.

In Week One his first career reception was about as impressive of catch as you’ll see a player make.

Week Two saw him take a Ben Roethlisberger pass 83 yards for a touchdown on what is the longest play ever made in the NFL by a Canadian born player.

Last week Claypool scored four touchdowns for the Steelers as they hung 39 points on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Claypool didn’t put up four touchdowns again today but he was still plenty impressive scoring again on a jet sweep and making an impressive catch to get the Steelers inside the Browns five yard line.

Claypool finished the day with four receptions for 74 yards and two rushes for seven more yards and a score.

The Steelers dominated the Browns 38-7 and improved to 5-0 for just the second time in the long, impressive history of the franchise.

NFL Next Gen Stats: Saints O-Line one of the most-balanced, most-effective units

The New Orleans Saints offensive line has been graded among the best by ESPN using NFL Next Gen Stats despite suffering a series of injuries

[jwplayer zMxClk8J-ThvAeFxT]

A chart from ESPN analyst Brian Burke using NFL Next Gen Stats data proves what a lot of New Orleans Saints fans know: the Saints offensive line is one of the best in the league. ESPN’s stats for pass block win rate and run block win rate grade New Orleans highly, making them one of just a few teams to exceed in both areas of the game.

Some units are effective in one area or the other. A lot of NFL teams field bad offensive lines week in and week out. Despite suffering a series of injuries and absences — left guard Andrus Peat is questionable to return from an ankle injury, and right tackle Ryan Ramczyk is expected to bounce back from a Week 4 concussion — the Saints have joined the Green Bay Packers, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, and New England Patriots in the top tier.

But we’ve also seen firsthand how perilous this situation can be. The Saints offense was shut down when Ramczyk was replaced by backup Ethan Greenidge in Week 4’s win over the Detroit Lions, resulting in a few scoreless drives late that helped Detroit cut into the Saints’ lead. And Peat hasn’t played as well as his backup Nick Easton when healthy. Both Easton and rookie right guard Cesar Ruiz ranked top-10 in ESPN’s pass block win rate stat going into Week 5 (as did second-year center Erik McCoy, graded best in the NFL), but Peat didn’t qualify.

That could happen as soon as in Monday night’s game with the Los Angeles Chargers, who have fielded one of the three worst offensive lines per Burke’s chart. And they’re missing starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga and right guard Trai Turner.

Bobby Okereke is Colts’ player of the game vs. Browns

Bobby Okereke led the defense on Sunday.

The Indianapolis Colts (3-2) fell to the Cleveland Browns (4-1) in a 32-23 loss that can be described in one word: frustrating.

With Anthony Castonzo and Darius Leonard out, the leaders of the offensive line and defense were missing and it showed.

One guy who stepped up in a big way was linebacker Bobby Okereke who filled in for Leonard and showed a lot of promise. Sadly, his efforts weren’t enough as the Colts drop to 3-2 on the year.

Okereke finished the day with 10 total tackles, a pass deflected, and an interception. The interception came in the third quarter after an Isaiah Rodgers 101-yard kickoff return at a moment when it looked like the momentum had shifted in the Colts favor.

Indy tries to rebound next week when they host the Cincinnati Bengals. Okereke may be called upon again with injuries to the Colts linebackers, but after this Sunday, the coaches in Indy know he can answer the call.
