Browns rumors: David Njoku, Jarvis Landry, Russell Wilson and WR market

Rumors, rumors everywhere and a few about the Browns:

The Cleveland Browns go into the 2022 offseason with a lot of intrigue. The team expected to compete for the playoffs and more in 2021 but fell flat. QB Baker Mayfield is coming off shoulder surgery and the Browns have a few very specific needs to fill.

The team also has a variety of players that could be traded or released to add significant cap space if so desired by Andrew Berry and company. With the 13 overall pick, an extra third-round compensatory pick expected and an extra high fourth-round pick, Cleveland could be very active.

The Browns also have a few key free agents. David Njoku and Jadeveon Clowney lead the list but M.J. Stewart and D’Ernest Johnson are also important cogs. Cleveland can tender Johnson to make him a restricted free agent, if not he would become an unrestricted free agent.

With all that possible movement, the Browns are likely to be the center of rumors as well as interested in rumors around the league. Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler provided a large dose of them at the end of the NFL combine (subscriber, $):

One player each NFL team could trade before the deadline, from Xavien Howard to Brandon Aiyuk

Let’s look at some of the players who could be on the move with the NFL trade deadline looming.

The NFL trade deadline has occasionally brought exciting and massive transactions. It also can be a bit of an anticlimactic day, with the trades being a bit less common in the NFL than in other leagues like the NBA.

There is no shortage of teams that could spin a trade to help fill a gap with hopes of making the playoffs. And, of course, there’s the enormous possibility that Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson will be on the move. Watson is facing more than 20 civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and inappropriate conduct, which is why he’s not playing for the Texans this season. Still, he has drawn trade interest, with the Miami Dolphins appearing to be the most likely destination for the QB, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Ahead of the deadline, let’s look at some other players who might be on the move, with one from every NFL team.
