Nets at Pelicans picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 121, Pelicans 115

Moneyline

I’ll go ahead and PASS on the moneyline in this game despite the Nets being the favored team on the road. Taking Brooklyn straight up isn’t advised at the current odds, but taking the Nets in a parlay is fine.

Against the spread

NETS -4.5 (-105) appears to be the ideal choice in this game. While Brooklyn is coming off of a loss, New Orleans doesn’t have Ingram or Williamson available against 1 of the better teams in the NBA.

The Pelicans are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games against a team with a winning road record. Above all, the Nets are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 meetings overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road meetings against the Pelicans.

Over/Under

Even though Ingram and Williamson aren’t playing, OVER 231.5 (-108) is where I’m leaning. Both of these teams are in the top 7 in offensive rating and top 13 in true-shooting percentage.

The Nets have gone Over in each of their last 4 games against a team with a winning record while the Pelicans are 6-1 to the Over in their last 7 games coming off 1 day of rest. The Over is also 14-2 in the last 16 meetings in New Orleans and 24-5 in the last 29 meetings overall.

Brooklyn Nets at New Orleans Pelicans odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Brooklyn Nets at New Orleans Pelicans odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Brooklyn Nets (8-4) travel to Smoothie King Center Friday to take on the New Orleans Pelicans (1-11). Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Nets at Pelicans odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Nets, led by former MVPs G James Harden and F Kevin Durant, have won 6 of their last 7 after a slow start to the season. Brooklyn has had high expectations set on it this season as preseason champion favorites, and it’ll look to avoid disappointment on the road Friday.

The Pelicans are hoping to get SF Brandon Ingram back, but their other star, F Zion Williamson, will still be out. Those two carry much of the offensive load, and their playoff aspirations have been shattered by Williamson’s inability to get on the court. They’ll be heavy underdogs in this one.

Nets at Pelicans odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 116, Pelicans 102

Money line

PASS on the money line. The Pelicans still have some talented players like G Josh Hart and G Devonte’ Graham, but I don’t anticipate them winning.

Although the Nets are likely the right side I would never dream of betting a -475 spread in a regular-season NBA game. The value just isn’t there.

Against the spread

BET on the NETS -8.5 (-108). They’re just the more talented side, and the Pelicans don’t really have a player that can competently guard Durant.

New Orleans is 29th in defensive rating, so Brooklyn should be able to eat it alive. Both G Joe Harris and F LaMarcus Aldridge should be able to nicely complement the MVPs in this game.

The Pelicans also rank bottom five in offensive rating. They just aren’t a competent team without Williamson and Ingram, who seems likely to sit out Friday.

They’ve lost four of their last five games by double figures and lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder by 8. That’s not a good look. Given the Pelicans’ recent play against that of the surging Nets, I’m backing Brooklyn in this one.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the OVER 215.5 (-107) as the Nets should be able to put up some points in this. With Graham, Hart and Nickeil Alexander-Walker in the Pelicans backcourt, both teams can score.

These teams rank 11th and 16th in pace as well which bodes well for a low total like 215.5. Both team also rank outside the top third in opponents’ free throw rate, so there could be some easy points scored.

The Nets have topped 115 points in four of their last six outings. They’re playing well offensively, and that trend should continue.

Nets at Pelicans: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 121, Pelicans 115

Money line (ML)

The Nets, coming off a loss Sunday, have not lost consecutive games since they lost three in a row February 5-9. New Orleans has lost three in a row. The Pelicans are much better at home (16-14) than on the road (9-18), while the Nets are mediocre on the road at 15-12.

The Nets and Pelicans played each other April 7 in Brooklyn, with the Nets picking up a 139-111 win. Tonight, take the NETS +115.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Nets are 3-1 ATS in their last four games. They are 14-13 ATS on the road.

New Orleans is 1-4 ATS in its last five games and only 14-16 ATS at home. They have not fared well as a favorite. They are 10-19 ATS this season when favored.

Since we expect the Nets to win outright, the better value is the money line, but if you think it might be a close Pelicans win, tag NETS +2.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Pelicans have the league’s highest Over percentage this season at 64.9%. Brooklyn is third at 59.7%. For both teams, defense can be optional. This should feature a lot of baskets. Take OVER 233.5 POINTS (-110).
