LeBron James attends Bronny’s high school game against his alma mater at Staples Center

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James supported his son, Bronny, playing against his high school’s team at Staples Center.

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t play a game Saturday, but many of the stars came to watch LeBron James’ son, Bronny James, play at Staples Center.

Bronny and Sierra Canyon faced off against St. Vincent-St. Mary’s, LeBron’s alma mater, in The Chosen-1’s Invitational.

Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Rajon Rondo, Chris Paul and Nick Young joined LeBron in watching the contest, which featured potential NBA players down the line.

Bronny stole the show with 19 points, which marked a game-high. After the game, Bronny explained what it meant to play in the same arena as his father, via Krysten Peek of Yahoo Sports:

“It felt special playing on the same court as he’s played,” Bronny James said of his father after the win. “I’m getting a lot of confidence from that, and it was a really special game for me. Afterwards, he just said he liked everything I was doing, with my poise and my pace for the game.”

Bronny James, Sierra Canyon dominate St. Vincent-St. Mary at Staples Center

Bronny James scored 19 points as Sierra Canyon rolled to a win over LeBron James’ alma mater.

Bronny James showed his flair for the dramatics in his first meeting against his father’s alma mater, knocking St. Vincent-St.Mary off with a game-winning bucket.

This time around, no such dramatics were needed for James and Sierra Canyon team to defeat the Ohio powerhouse.

James poured in 19 points as Sierra Canyon rolled to a 71-53 win in front of a star-studded Staples Center crowd in the Chosen-1’s invitational. LeBron James sat courtside, while Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul also took in the high-profile matchup.

Sierra Canyon jumped out to a double-digit first quarter lead and never looked back, going up by 21 points at halftime. That lead grew to 25 midway through the third quarter and although St. Vincent-St. Mary eventually trimmed its deficit to 51-34, it was far too much for the Fighting Irish to ultimately overcome.

Sierra Canyon received standout performances from Ramel Lloyd Jr. and Kijani Wright, who stepped up and delivered with five-star UCLA commit Amari Bailey out of the lineup with a sprained ankle. Lloyd Jr. and Wright both scored 15 points, with Wright starting the game with an emphatic dunk to set the tone.

The manner in which James scored his 19 demonstrated the growth of his game since he first played St. Vincent-St. Mary in 2019. Instead of relying on his athleticism to beat defenders, James displayed a smooth three-point stroke and thrived in transition — much like his father — with strong finishes at the rim.

With James seemingly taking his game to the next level early this season, Sierra Canyon is in an even better position to dominate in 2021-22 than it was before the year began. Once Bailey returns, Sierra Canyon will have a chance to stamp itself as the top in the nation.

LeBron James stepped into coaching mode while watching his son’s game film

Pretty intense.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron Jones was quite enthusiastic and in coaching mode while watching his son Bronny’s game film.

James’ wife Savannah posted a video to her Instagram story to show the dad while he worked his way through the video from one of Bronny’s game. The youngster, currently attending Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles, is one of the nation’s top high school players for his age group at 16 years old. And it seems like LeBron has big expectations for his kid, just like the rest of the country. (And who can blame LeBron? He’s a just a loving dad.)

Here’s a funny video of LeBron getting pumped up while watching Bronny.

Pretty intense.

LeBron James confronted an announcer over comments at Bronny’s basketball game

LeBron had some words for the PA guy.

If you’ve caught the highlights from any of Bronny James’ club basketball games over Fourth of July weekend, you probably noticed that the play-by-play announcer actually added commentary instead of the typical who-scored-who-assisted-who-fouled format.

Some of that commentary didn’t go over well with noted Basketball Dad LeBron James.

The Lakers star was in the building to watch Bronny — who is heading into his junior year in high school — play for the Strive For Greatness travel team. And at one point in the game, Bronny drew a foul, which led to the announcer saying that Bronny got the call because LeBron was watching.

LeBron took exception and went to the announcer’s table to have words with PA guy.

Ignore the title of that video, which said LeBron fought an announcer — that obviously didn’t happen. But LeBron did have words with the adult who was taking a veiled shot at a teenager over a loudspeaker.

There’s no place for that, especially if you’re working at the AAU event.

Plus, according to the broadcast’s announcers, Bronny really was fouled. Neither his name nor his father had anything to do it.

LeBron made his point to the announcer and then returned to his spot on the baseline.

WATCH: LeBron James coaches up Bronny at The Battle AAU showcase

Watch LeBron James teach Bronny at halftime during The Battle showcase.

With the Los Angeles Lakers no longer participating in the NBA playoffs this year, players have been able to attend to other matters with their time.

LeBron James is a man leading a busy life outside of his own basketball journey, and watching Bronny James, his son, evolve is among the priorities for LeBron.

Bronny suited up for Team Strive For Greatness at The Battle showcase that takes place in Akron, Ohio. Specifically, LeBron’s high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary, is where the games transpire.

Bronny plays for the 17U team and had games in the tournament on Friday. The event was sold out with about 1,300 people in attendance.

At halftime during Bronny’s match, LeBron went up to him and coached him up on different moves, via Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland:

Team Strive For Greatness, however, lost the game to Midwest, 99-97. More games are scheduled for the tournament until July 4.

WATCH: LeBron James, Drake attend Bronny James’ high school final

LeBron James, Drake, J.R. Smith and Jared Dudley came to watch Bronny James make his season debut.

With the Los Angeles Lakers in offseason mode much earlier than anticipated, the players have more time and opportunities to attend events.

LeBron James, in particular, has many duties on his plate, and one of them is helping his son, Bronny James, grow as a basketball player.

James, along with recording artist Drake, attended Bronny’s high school game. Bronny’s Sierra Canyon Trailblazers took on the Centennial Huskies in the CIF Open Division Final.

This match served as Bronny’s season debut because, in February, he suffered a torn meniscus that prevented him from playing in the spring.

James and Drake had other stars join them in attendance. J. R. Smith, who played for the Lakers last year, and Jared Dudley also came to watch Bronny play.

Bronny finished the game with seven points, but it was UCLA basketball commit Amari Bailey who dominated headlines with a 33-point outing. However, Sierra Canyon lost the game, 80-72.

Take a look at James and company cheering on Bronny:

Bronny James makes first cover of Sports Illustrated with FaZe Clan

Bronny James has made his first appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated as he teams up with FaZe Clan.

Bronny James, LeBron James’ son, has made his first appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine.

James will feature on the cover of the July issue, appearing alongside members of the popular e-sports team, FaZe Clan.

James joined FaZe Clan in August, making him the first basketball player still in high school to join the roster. Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons is also a member of the team.

The cover sees James and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray playing a video game holding a PlayStation controller, while FaZe members Swagg, Rug, Temperrr and NICKMERCS watch with various facial expressions.

Here’s a look at Bronny’s full cover alongside LeBron’s first appearance in 2002:

Bronny has dedicated plenty of time to the world of e-sports prior to joining FaZe, and his interest continues to mount.

LeBron is aware of Bronny’s commitment to gaming, and FaZe Banks, a founder of FaZe, shared an encounter he had with LeBron, via Rohan Nadkarni of Sports Illustrated:

“And if there was any question as to whether LeBron is aware how much time his son invests in video games, Banks says he “dapped up” the worldwide megastar when he bumped into him on a night out in L.A. earlier this year.”

Bronny’s first cover comes as an e-sports athlete, but he has more coming beyond the gaming world as he grows up.

LeBron reacted to the cover on his Instagram:

Sierra Canyon basketball star Chance Westry leaves program

Top 50 guard Chance Westry has left Sierra Canyon’s basketball programs for personal reasons.

Sierra Canyon basketball star Chance Westry has left the program, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Westry, a Pennsylvania native and the No. 34 overall recruit in the class of 2022, is no longer with the program due to personal reasons, according to head coach Andre Chevalier. Westry averaged 14.2 points in five games for Sierra Canyon this season, but had not played in the team’s last two games.

Sierra Canyon has played short-handed throughout most of the 2021 season. Aside from Westry’s recent and now long-term absence, Max Allen, a 6-foot-8 forward, left the program before the regular season began on April 22. 7-foot-3 center Harold Yu is also not joining the team and Bronny James is unlikely to suit up for his sophomore season after tearing his meniscus in February.

Nonetheless, Sierra Canyon has remained one of the top dogs on the California high school basketball season thanks to five-star guard Amari Bailey, who recently posted a triple-double in a win over Crossroads High School last week. Despite its shortened rotation, Sierra Canyon has now won 59 straight league games and remain title contenders entering the postseason, which begins on May 28.

Klutch Sports: Former Sierra Canyon star BJ Boston signs with Klutch

Klutch Sports is already preparing for the upcoming draft by bringing on one of Bronny James’ former teammates.

While the Los Angeles Lakers will soon welcome back Anthony Davis to their lineup, Klutch Sports is preparing for yet another NBA Draft. On Wednesday afternoon, we learned more about the incoming Klutch class of 2021, which includes a familiar name for those who have followed the career of Bronny James.

Bronny’s former Sierra Canyon teammate, Brandon Boston Jr. (aka BJ), is one of the newest signees of Klutch Sports. Boston was a transfer to Sierra Canyon for his senior season, in which the Trail Blazers made it to the CIF Open Final before the coronavirus pandemic canceled their championship game. Boston is one of the players featured in the latest documentary series about Sierra Canyon, Top Class, which is available on Amazon Prime Video.

The signing of Boston is likely just the start of former Sierra Canyon stars choosing Klutch Sports as their representation in the near future. Stanford’s Ziaire Williams, who also was part of the 2019-20 Sierra Canyon squad, also recently declared for the draft.

LeBron says playing in NBA with Bronny is a ‘long-term goal’

LeBron James is still hoping to play alongside his son in the NBA, but says that’s a ‘long-term’ goal.

Midway through his 18th year in the NBA, LeBron James is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. The four-time league MVP is putting together a bid to become the oldest NBA MVP in history at the age of 36, and has his Los Angeles Lakers near the top of the Western Conference despite Anthony Davis’ injury trouble.

James also has plenty of history left to chase. He surpassed the 35,000-point mark earlier this season, and is on pace to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer sometime during the 2022-23 NBA season, which also happens to be the final year of his contract with the Lakers.

Beyond that, James is also hoping to one day be joined in the NBA by his son Bronny, a five-star recruit in the class of 2023 who is currently recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus. During the All-Star weekend, LeBron said that his son is focused on being a teenager for the time being, but that playing alongside his son remains a “long-term goal” of his.
