Denver Broncos at LA Chargers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Denver Broncos at LA Chargers odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Denver Broncos (9-5) visit the LA Chargers (8-6) during the Week 16 edition of Thursday Night Football. Kickoff from SoFi Stadium is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET (Prime Video). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NFL odds around the Broncos vs. Chargers odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

Denver sits sixth in the AFC playoff picture, while the Chargers occupy the seventh and final spot. This crucial showdown could all but punch a postseason ticket for the winner.

The Chargers would hold the tiebreaker over Denver if they win this one; they defeated the Broncos 23-16 in Week 6, holding off a 16-points-unanswered comeback while riding RB J.K. Dobbins‘ 102-yard day from scrimmage that also included a TD.

The Bolts have lost 3 of their last 4 games, though, including a demoralizing 40-17 loss in Week 15 on Sunday to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Denver heads into this weekend with a much better feeling, having won its last 4 games, a streak punctuated by a 31-13 steamrolling of the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix threw 3 INTs, but also accounted for 3 TD passes, including a fourth-quarter pair that helped seal the victory.

We’ve seen a bit of money movement toward Denver since our First Look on Monday, so let’s see where the Broncos-Chargers lines stand now.

Broncos at Chargers picks and predictions

Prediction

Chargers 23, Broncos 21

Moneyline

This game is basically a coin flip; the spread nails the uncertainty.

There’s value in going against the prediction grain and taking the plus-money with the Broncos, but bettors should prefer taking the points.

PASS.

Against the spread

Both teams have dominated along the line this year (DEN 11-3, LAC 9-5), making this a tough call.

The Broncos +3 we got earlier in the week is now inefficiently taxed, leaving Broncos backers with a less helpful hook to +2.5. Still, that’s probably enough to click this pick, given how Denver remains undervalued in this betting lot.

BET DENVER +2.5 (-105) but look for better alt lines closer to kickoff.

Over/Under

Back the Over as the strongest recommendation of the typical betting categories for this game.

The Chargers should be able to put up enough points by avoiding CB Patrick Surtain Jr. with the likes of WRs Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston lining up all over the field.

Nix and the Broncos’ offensive upside continue to be undervalued, especially resurgent WR Courtland Sutton.

BET OVER 42 (-110).

Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Denver Broncos (2-3) head to SoFi Stadium in Week 6 to face the Los Angeles Chargers (3-2) on Monday Night Football (ESPN). Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Broncos vs. Chargers odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Broncos fell at home in Week 5 to the Indianapolis Colts 12-9 in OT on Thursday Night Football, so they should be well-rested. QB Russell Wilson completed 21 of 39 passes for 279 yards with 2 picks, finishing with a dismal 15.9 QBR (quarterback rating). WR Courtland Sutton led Denver’s receivers with 5 receptions for 74 yards – thanks to a 51-yard completion. On defense, S Caden Sterns led the way with 2 INTs.

In the end, it was play-calling decisions that largely hurt Denver. Once throwing an INT on 3rd down in the red zone and another when failing to convert on 4th down in OT, which put Indy in a great position to win the game.

The Chargers won at the Cleveland Browns 30-28 in Week 5 – Browns K Cade York missed a 54-yard FG attempt with 11 seconds remaining which likely would have won it. Chargers QB Justin Herbert went 22 of 34 for 228 yards and a TD, but it was RB Austin Ekeler who stole the show. Ekeler ran for 173 yards and a TD on 16 carries. RB Joshua Kelley (10/49/1) also had a good day on the ground.

The LA offense went 2 of 5 on red-zone opportunities. In order to find success through the rest of the season, it must improve on that metric.

Broncos at Chargers picks and predictions

Prediction

Chargers 31, Broncos 13

Moneyline

PASS.

Los Angeles’ odds (-220) are risky because they do not present as much return, but the Chargers should handle business at home. With the Broncos’ Wilson coming off a shoulder operation earlier this week, expect another lethargic game from the Denver offense, while Herbert and the Chargers offense should move easily Monday night.

But I can’t justify suggesting a -220 favorite. Let’s focus on the spread below.

Against the spread

BET CHARGERS -4.5 (-112).

The Chargers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games, while the Broncos are 1-4 in that same span. Plus, Denver is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games on the road.

Still looking for their groove with Wilson, the Broncos have a lot of questions to be answered before they can confidently be backed.

Over/Under

TAKE UNDER 45.5 (-108). With a slow-moving, run-heavy Denver offense, the O/U line will be carried by Los Angeles. Although Herbert and company are capable of putting up big numbers, the only way the Over will hit is if Denver is able to find the end zone which does not seem likely. The Under is 4-1 this season in 5 Broncos games.

Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Denver Broncos (7-8) and Los Angeles Chargers (8-7) are both heading in the wrong direction as the playoffs approach, each losing their last three games. They’ll square off Sunday at SoFi Stadium as both teams try to keep their playoff hopes alive. Kickoff will be at 4:05 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Broncos vs. Chargers odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Broncos’ offense has gone ice cold in December, scoring just 23 total points in their last two games against the Raiders and Bengals. They’ve lost two straight and three of their last four, failing to cover the spread as the favorites in the last two weeks.

The Chargers have been scoring points in bunches but the defense has struggled to stop their opponents. Los Angeles has scored at least 28 points in each of its last four games but has allowed 75 points in the last two weeks, both of which were losses.

L.A.’s latest loss was a stunner, losing to the Texans Sunday afternoon in what was one of the biggest upsets of the season.

Broncos at Chargers odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Chargers 24, Broncos 21

Money line

The Chargers are the better team in this matchup, especially with Bridgewater out. But with how inconsistent the defense has been in recent weeks, it’s hard to feel confident betting on L.A. to win any game outright.

The Broncos crushed the Chargers 28-13 at the end of November and although I don’t foresee another upset like that, I don’t like the Chargers (-380).

PASS here.

Against the spread

Both teams are just 7-8 ATS this season and have each failed to cover in their last two games. In their last three meetings dating back to the start of 2020, the Broncos are 2-1 SU and ATS vs. the Chargers, outscoring them 25-21 on average.

I like the BRONCOS +7.5 (-110) getting the points and covering the spread against an inconsistent Chargers team.

Over/Under

The total has gone Over in each of the Chargers’ last four games thanks to their offensive outbursts. But in the Broncos’ last nine games, the total has gone Over just once.

Denver’s defense has the personnel to match up with the Chargers’ offense, though the Broncos could struggle to score many points with QB Drew Lock under center. I like the UNDER 45.5 (-115).

Broncos at Chargers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Chargers 27, Broncos 20

Money line (?)

The Chargers are coming off two straight wins and the Broncos have lost three of four. Having already lost to Denver earlier this season, the Chargers will want to pick up a home win. Both teams could be missing their top pass rusher and Denver will be missing its top running back. Expect a Chargers win at home to drop Denver to last place in the AFC West. Take the CHARGERS -190.

Against the spread (?)

Neither team has been a good bet ATS. Denver is 8-6 ATS, while Los Angeles is 7-7. The Chargers, though, have covered the spread in their last two games. Denver has been the underdog in every game it has played this season. Take the CHARGERS -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under (?)

While the two teams combined for 61 points in their last meeting, this won’t be as high-scoring with both missing top offensive weapons. The Broncos are 2-4 O/U in their last six games, while the Chargers are 1-3 O/U in their last four. Take UNDER 48.5 (-105).
