Breshad Perriman had VIP seat at Tom Brady roast for some reason

Why was he there, and in the primo seat no less? Well, he must have a very close friendship with Brady.

Arguably the top trending topic, not just for the NFL but for sports (and some might say even pop culture itself) in general, was Sunday night’s roast of Tom Brady.

And for some reason, former Ravens wide receiver Breshad Perriman had the best seat in the house. If you have a Netflix account, I strongly suggest you watch it.

If you don’t, then I would recommend going on your social media platform of choice and finding the video clips of the funniest and most controversial jokes.

You must prepare yourself, though. No topic was off limits, and even if it takes a lot to offend you, you’ll still find some of the jokes here to be more than “a bit much.”

We won’t get into repeating specific lines here, but portions of the program were basically an Aaron Hernandez roast, and that turned out exactly as you might think it would.

Credit to Nikki Glaser. This night further established her as one of the best comedians on the planet right now. Her set upstaged both “Roastmaster General” Jeff Ross and host Kevin Hart.

There is a popular take out there on social media that this event “brought comedy back.” This opinion is based on the fact that many people who took the stage joked about topics that have been considered off limits by today’s standards of cultural sensitivity, and did so in a manner that would be considered too raw for today’s sociopolitical climate.

Ravens fans can watch this roast specifically for all the Brady and New England Patriots schadenfreude, as Bill Belichick, Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski all took to the podium to roast Brady — and one another.

The Pats dynasty obstructed the Ravens, as well as a few other AFC teams (Brady said he “owned” Indianapolis and Buffalo when he was at the podium), from winning more honors and trophies over the years.

So seeing and hearing Brady get torched will probably feel cathartic for fans of several teams, including Baltimore. You also have another, more direct Ravens angle, as this tweet from Ryan Mink, editor of the team’s official website, points out.

Perriman was the Ravens’ first-round choice (No. 26 overall) in the 2015 NFL draft. After two seasons in Charm City, he moved on to Cleveland. He had a rather nondescript NFL career, and he played with Brady for only one season, and that was in Tampa, not New England.

So why was he at the roast, and in the primo seat no less? Well, he must have a very close friendship with Brady. Also, he coincidentally was on the receiving end of Brady’s 700th career touchdown pass.

He caught a 58-yarder for a walk-off win over Buffalo in December 2021.

Colts release WR Breshad Perriman

The Colts released WR Breshad Perriman ahead of roster cuts.

The Indianapolis Colts released wide receiver Breshad Perriman on Monday, first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Perriman was likely a longshot to make the roster. He was in the competition for one of the final wide receiver spots, but he didn’t make much of a splash during the preseason games.

It will be interesting to see how the Colts go about structuring their wide receiver room with Ashton Dulin out for the season with a torn ACL. They typically keep six wide receivers, but they may opt for only five on the initial roster.

The eight-year veteran will hit free agency in search for another team.

The Colts have until Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET to finalize their initial 53-man roster. You can stay up to date with the latest moves via our tracker.

5 things to know about Colts new WR Breshad Perriman

Get to know new Colts WR Breshad Perriman.

The Indianapolis Colts added more depth and competition to the wide receiver room Monday, officially announcing the signing of free-agent wide receiver Breshad Perriman.

Though Perriman, 29, has not lived up to the draft capital of a former first-round pick, he has shown flashes of being a legitimate deep threat for an offense running a vertical passing game.

Here are five things to know about the newest addition to the Colts wide receiver room:

The Indianapolis Colts signed free-agent wide receiver Breshad Perriman and waived undrafted rookie wide receiver Tyler Adams, the team announced Monday.

It was reported over the weekend that the Colts could sign Perriman after he worked out for the team Friday. The former first-round pick now joins a wide receiver room that includes Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, Ashton Dulin and Mike Strachan.

Perriman was the No. 26 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He spent three seasons there (2015-2017) before bouncing around the league with several teams.

His career journey includes stints with the Washington Commanders (2018), Cleveland Browns (2018), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2019), New York Jets (2020), Detroit Lions (2021), Chicago Bears (2021) and again the Buccaneers (2021-2022).

In 67 career games (22 starts), Perriman has recorded 129 receptions for 2,148 yards and 15 touchdowns. His best season came in 2019 with the Buccaneers when he recorded 36 receptions for 645 yards and six touchdowns.

Considering the vertical nature of Shane Steichen’s passing attack, Perriman’s 4.26 in the 40-yard dash makes him an intriguing fit. Of course, that was back in 2015, but the fact that he’s averaged 16.7 yards per reception for his career suggests he’s still a viable deep threat.

It will be interesting to see if Perriman can make enough of a mark during training camp to land a spot on the active roster, and it’s never a terrible idea to surround a rookie quarterback with players of various talents.

Bucs FA Breshad Perriman signs with Indianapolis Colts

Perriman notably caught Tom Brady’s 700th touchdown pass for an overtime win against the Buffalo Bills in 2021.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost two free agents to the Indianapolis Colts in the last four days.

The Colts signed DE Genard Avery on June 1, and they signed another Bucs free agent on Monday. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Indianapolis signed Tampa Bay free agent WR [autotag]Breshad Perriman[/autotag], who has played for the Bucs for the last two years but also had a stint with the team in 2019.

In his three cumulative years in Tampa Bay, Perriman caught 56 balls for 922 yards and eight touchdowns. Six of those touchdowns came in his 2019 year with the Bucs, though, and he only caught one apiece in the last seasons in Tampa Bay.

Perriman is perhaps most well-known for his touchdown catch in overtime against the Bills in 2021, where he took a slant route from QB Tom Brady 53 yards for the game-winning score — the touchdown was Brady’s 700th touchdown pass.

Ex-Lions WR Breshad Perriman signs with the Colts

Perriman failed in his attempt to make the Lions roster back in the 2021 offseason despite starting minicamp as the team’s No. 2 wideout

Two years ago as the Detroit Lions entered mandatory minicamp week, veteran wide receiver Breshad Perriman was penciled in as the No. 2 wide receiver on the roster. opposite Tyrell Williams. The son of former Lions wideout Brett Perriman was a former first-round pick (2016) by the Baltimore Ravens and still had his impressive blend of size and speed.

Alas, the Lions quickly discovered what several other teams had learned the hard way: Perriman simply wasn’t good at playing football, despite the pedigree and measurable attributes. The Lions dumped Perriman after preseason even though the team was desperate for proven talent at his position.

Perriman landed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He caught 20 passes in the last two seasons for the Buccaneers, and now he gets another chance with yet another team. The Indianapolis Colts have signed Perriman to a one-year deal, per reports.

The Colts are Perriman’s eighth NFL team in as many years, counting teams he signed with in offseasons (like Detroit). He’s caught 145 career passes, scoring 16 touchdowns.

Report: Colts could sign WR Breshad Perriman after workout

The Colts worked out WR Breshad Perriman.

The Indianapolis Colts worked out free-agent wide receiver Breshad Perriman and reportedly are in discussions about potentially signing the veteran, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN on Friday.

The former first-round pick from the 2015 NFL draft has bounced around the league and while the Colts added some extra competition to the room this offseason in the form of rookie Josh Downs, they’re always looking for more.

Perriman worked out for the Colts on Friday so this will be something to monitor.

Perriman was the No. 26 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He spent three seasons there before bouncing around the league with several teams.

In 67 career games (22 starts), Perriman has recorded 129 receptions for 2,148 yards and 15 touchdowns. His best season came in 2019 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when he recorded 36 receptions for 645 yards and six touchdowns.

We’ll see if the Colts wind up signing the deep threat who has averaged 16.7 yards per reception for his career so this will be something to keep an eye on over the next week.

Fantasy Football: 3 Buccaneers WRs worth picking up while Mike Evans is suspended in Week 3

Time to unleash Russell Gage?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of six NFL teams without a loss this season. Yet, their start to the season has been a bit of an eye-sore for fantasy managers (unless you like old-school, low-scoring defensive battles fresh from the 1970s).

Tampa’s usual start-studded offense of the Tom Brady era is struggling largely due to the underwhelming passing attack.

But there’s a reason. First, Tampa dealt with offensive line injuries throughout training camp, which they are still working through. But more importantly, the Bucs have struggled with player availability in the wide receiver room — injuries to Chris Godwin, Julio Jones and Russell Gage, in particular.

Now, Brady will be without the suspended Mike Evans for Week 3, and the pass-catching options will be…interesting.

Tom Brady’s got to throw the ball to someone, though, and we’re here to help you fantasy football managers determine who it’ll be. Here are three Bucs receivers to consider playing in Week 3 amidst all the injury woes.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have finally found the end zone against the New Orleans Saints, courtesy of Tom Brady and Breshad Perriman.

On a critical third down halfway through the fourth quarter, the Bucs broke a 3-3 tie against their NFC South rivals, as Brady delivered a perfect strike to Perriman in the back corner of the end zone for a 28-yard score.

It’s a huge swing for the Bucs, who desperately needed some life on offense after struggling all game long. Now, they have a lead they hope not to relinquish.

WATCH: Tom Brady launches deep TD pass to Breshad Perriman at training camp

Watch Tom Brady hit Breshad Perriman for a deep touchdown pass during Wednesday’s training camp practice

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicked off their 2022 training camp Wednesday, and Tom Brady wasted little time proving he’s still got a cannon at almost 45 years old.

During Wednesday’s practice, Brady chucked a deep pass to Breshad Perriman, who plucked it in double coverage before racing to the end zone for a touchdown.

Perriman is one of many receivers battling for the last couple of spots on Tampa Bay’s initial 53-man active roster, and highlights like this one should certainly help his case.
