WATCH: Robert Griffin III compares Ravens QB Lamar Jackson to Steph Curry

Robert Griffin III compared Lamar Jackson to Stephen Curry because he changes the way you view the quarterback position

Robert Griffin III (RG3) is a former No. 2 overall pick and a Heisman-winning quarterback who mentored Lamar Jackson during the 2019 season that saw the former Louisville quarterback win his first MVP award.

Fast forward five years, and Jackson has earned another MVP award, and he’s among the top five best signal-callers in the game.

Recently, Griffin III spoke with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson about many topics, including which NFL player revamped the game like how Stephen Curry changed the NBA and basketball as a whole.

Griffin III chose Ravens two-time MVP Lamar Jackson, highlighting his penchant for doing whatever it takes to win the game.

“Steph Curry kind of changed the game with the three-point line and how you do that,” said Griffin.

“Oh man, I would say it’s Lamar Jackson because Patrick Mahomes in my opinion is like LeBron, you know what I mean? He can do it all — his scrambling ability shows up when you least expect it in the Super Bowl or in the AFC Championship Game but, Lamar has shown you that you don’t have to throw for 4,000 yards to win MVP; you don’t have to do it the way they tell you to do it. He’s kind of implemented this way where he can be a quarterback and it helps Jalen Hurts, it helps Kyler Murray… it helps Jalen Milroe who’s coming out after this year I think [laughs]… and that’s why I would say that Lamar is that guy because he changes the way you view the quarterback position — it doesn’t mean that [Michael] Vick didn’t do it, it doesn’t mean that Colin [Kapernick] didn’t do it, it doesn’t mean that I didn’t do it or Randall Cunningham… It’s just that he’s won two MVP’s. He’s the greatest dual threat quarterback in NFL history and I think that he’s changed the game.”

Jackson delivered his MVP moment and put the Bengals to sleep when he stiff-armed Sam Hubbard before throwing a dart to Isaiah Likely for a touchdown, leading the Baltimore Ravens to a comeback win in Week 5.

Jackson is third in the NFL with nine touchdown passes, fourth in passer rating, fifth in QBR, and playing some of the best football of his career.

Brandon Robinson joins Charlotte Hornets staff

After serving as a graduate assistant last year for the UNC basketball program, Brandon Robinson is now joining the Charlotte Hornets staff.

Former UNC basketball wing [autotag]Brandon Robinson[/autotag] has taken the next step in his career, this time taking a step up to the NBA.

Robinson, who previously served as a graduate assistant for UNC this year, is joining the Charlotte Hornets staff as a Basketball Operations Assistant, according to Tar Heel International.

Even though he was on the staff for just one season, Robinson told Tar Heel International in an exclusive interview that he learned a lot about the ins and outs of being on a coaching staff.

“I learned a lot from being on staff. I took something from every coach and staff member that helped me grow. Including the day-to-day operations that go into college coaching, whether that’s going out to recruit, learning to make a practice plan, scheduling or how to approach difficult conversations that are necessary to have with players. Having a balance between criticism and positive reinforcement to players throughout games, practices, or just day-to-day things that they go through.”

Robinson spent four years in Chapel Hill as a player from 2016-2020. He played in 130 games, and was a freshman when UNC won the National Championship in 2017.

In his career, he averaged 4.1 points per game and shot 37.3 percent from three. As a senior, Robinson made 23 starts and averaged 11.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He also shot 36.9 percent from three.

NY Giants legend Carl Banks compares the Kyrie Irving and Aaron Rodgers situations

Two-time Super Bowl champion Carl Banks sounds off on Kyrie Irving.

Kyrie Irving has been granted his request to play again, but he’s only limited to play in road games once he clears health and safety protocol. As his team holds it down for him in his absence, questions on if his position on getting vaccinated to be eligible to play in all games has come about. In an interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Bally Sports, New York Giants legend Carl Banks compared the situation to Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers.

“I think for both of those players, the opinions of the fans are in a large part based on the drama that comes with those players,” said Banks. “Kyrie Irving is a different guy. He operates to a different melody sometimes. His position is HIS position. The team’s position which I have no issue with either; when the owners say are you all in or all out… and we’re not going to split the difference here because he’s looking at this as a team sport. Aaron Rodgers situation?… He got up and basically lied about his vaccination status by semantics and there’s always something with him.

Both guys are incredibly talented; I don’t know if Kyrie (Irving) plays the victim card like, Woe is me; I know we’ve seen this a little bit with Aaron where Aaron gets upset when people criticize him. I think with Kyrie he doesn’t overtly show that he’s affected by criticism because he has the courage of his convictions. I think in Aaron Rodgers’ case he needs it to keep the chip on his shoulder, but he’s incredibly talented. But you know, their criticisms are based on the drama that surrounds them and a lot of it they create; some unintentionally and some intentionally.”

Kendrick Perkins trolls Twitter by joking about NBA return with the Nets

Kendrick Perkins trolls Twitter by hinting at a NBA return joining the Nets.

The Heavy’s Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson posed an open question to NBA Twitter about the scenario the Brooklyn Nets are in right now – having an open roster spot and choosing who to give it to. When Robinson asked what position the Nets should target, Kendrick Perkins replied with a GIF of himself shooting from the elbow.

The purpose of Perkins’ tweet was to hint at Brooklyn picking him up and adding another center to the team. Of course the former big man was just joking; however, he may not wrong about the Nets picking up another center moving forward.
