Browns assistant Brandon Lynch participating in NFL’s Coach Accelerator program

The Browns have a young coach in the pipeline

As the Cleveland Browns trek into the dead season of the offseason, one assistant coach will be participating in the NFL Coach Accelerator program. Cornerbacks coach Brandon Lynch will take part in the program during spring meetings next week.

The Coach Accelerator program is “aimed at strengthening the pipeline of diverse coaching candidates.”

A former player, Lynch was a member of the Indianapolis Colts team that won the Super Bowl in the 2006 season. He won a Grey Cup in the Canadian Football League with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as well. He has been on the Browns’ coaching staff since the 2020 season and was kept on board by Jim Schwartz after he took over as defensive coordinator.

Heading up one of the NFL’s best cornerback units, Lynch has already been in coaching circles for a promotion. Just this offseason, Lynch interviewed with the Tennessee Titans for their vacancy at defensive coordinator.

The Browns look to foster growth of young talent to create a pipeline, and Lynch may just be the next one up.

Browns cornerbacks coach Brandon Lynch interviews for Titans DC job

The Browns assistant could get a promotion with the Titans

The NFL offseason continues for 30 of the league’s teams as teams continue to build and rebuild their coaching staffs for 2024. The Cleveland Browns could be looking at replacing one of their top defensive coaches after cornerback coach Brandon Lynch interviewed with the Titans for their defensive coordinator position on Brian Callahan’s staff in Tennessee.

It would be a big loss for Cleveland and Jim Schwartz after Lynch coached up one of the league’s best cornerback rooms. It didn’t matter who stepped on the field at the position Lynch had them ready to play, even when career special teamer Mike Ford and rookie Cam Mitchell were thrust into action.

Lynch helped Jim Schwartz field one of the best defenses in the NFL and poaching him would be a solid move for the Titans. Time will tell if the Titans ultimately hire Lynch but if they do there will be big shoes to fill in Cleveland.

Titans interview Browns coach Brandon Lynch for DC job

The Titans have reportedly interviewed Browns CBs coach Brandon Lynch for their defensive coordinator vacancy.

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly interviewed a second candidate for their defensive coordinator vacancy.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, the Titans completed an interview with Cleveland Browns cornerbacks coach Brandon Lynch for their defensive coordinator job.

This is the second defensive coordinator interview the Titans have had, with the other being with Baltimore Ravens defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson, who was also scheduled to speak to Tennessee on Tuesday.

Lynch actually has a strong connection to Tennessee. Not only did he sign as an undrafted free agent with the Titans in 2004, he also played his college ball at Middle Tennessee State.

Lynch got his first NFL coaching gig in 2020 when the Browns hired him as an assistant defensive backs coach. He was later bumped up to cornerbacks coach in 2023.

In his first season at the helm of the cornerbacks room, Cleveland’s defense finished first in total yards and passing yards allowed.
