WATCH: Every touch from Braelon Allen’s historic Week 2 performance

Former Wisconsin and current New York Jets running back Braelon Allen set records during the second appearance of his NFL career on Sunday.

Allen found the end zone twice in the Jets’ seven-point win over the Tennessee Titans. At just 20 years old, he became the youngest player in NFL history to record two touchdowns from scrimmage in a single game.

While Allen did the majority of his damage on the ground, he also showcased his ability to create in the open field via the passing attack. The first score came when NFL legend Aaron Rodgers dumped Allen a screen pass, who then maneuvered around Tennessee defenders and dove to the pylon for a 12-yard touchdown.

The Fond du Lac, Wisconsin native saw three total touches on the drive, including another pass from Rodgers for a gain of 11 yards.

Allen also helped the Jets convert a short third down at the tail end of the third quarter before bursting down the sideline for a 20-yard score with just over four minutes to spare in the fourth frame. His touchdown would prove to be the difference in the 24-17 triumph over Tennessee.

The Wisconsin great finished the afternoon with nine total touches, 56 yards and those two touchdowns.

Here is every touch from Allen’s historic day.

The Jets will return to New York for the first home game of the 2024 season against the New England Patriots on Thursday, Sept. 19. Allen will likely see a similar, if not increased, workload behind star running back Breece Hall during the primetime slot.

Jets’ Breece Hall has to appreciate the contributions of Braelon Allen

Basically, with HB Braelon Allen’s contributions, the New York Jets backfield becomes extraordinarily dynamic.

The utility of New York Jets running back Braelon should not be overshadowed by the excellence of running back Breece Hall. Basically, with Allen’s contributions, the Jets’ backfield becomes extraordinarily dynamic as Hall is able to rest and avoid attrition.

Jets’ fans recoiled at criticism regarding Hall’s week 1 performance and Hall did bounce back by playing essential in the victory over the Tennessee Titans. However, it was the additional help of Allen, who scored total two touchdowns against the Titans that sealed the team victory.

If Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett can continue to balance the usage of Hall & Allen respectfully, quarterback Aaron Rodgers won’t have to throw the ball at large volumes.

By lessening the usage of Rodgers, it assures he stays energized and sharp, able to make pre-snap reads, signal the snap count to the offensive line in pressure situations, and most importantly be accurate on throws.

Jets’ Braelon Allen says ‘Nana’ could have scored his game-winner vs. Titans

#Jets’ Braelon Allen says ‘Nana’ could have scored his game-winner vs. #Titans:

New York Jets running back Braelon Allen was in a complimentary mood after scoring his team’s game-winning touchdown in Week 2.

The Jets (1-1) topped the Tennessee Titans (0-2) on the road for their first win of the season in a 24-17 final. Allen played a huge part.

After putting away a receiving touchdown, Allen doubled down. He put the final points on the board giving his team the victory, but Allen credited the 20-yard run to New York’s offensive line in front of him… and in a funny way.

“It just opened up,” Allen said. “Doesn’t get much easier than that one. My Nana could’ve probably scored on that one.”

Head coach Robert Saleh was confident in his guys in that moment, too.

No mention of family, though.

“I feel we can score every time we touch the ball,” Saleh said via video conference. “(Allen) is a great complement to Breece (Hall).”

Former Wisconsin star Braelon Allen sets NFL record in win over Titans

Former Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen became the youngest player in NFL history to record multiple touchdowns from the line of scrimmage in the same game on Sunday, per StatMuse.

At 20 days and 239 days, Allen entered the 2024 slate as the NFL’s youngest player. Only Andy Livingston, who played for Chicago and New Orleans from 1964-70, was younger when he scored his first touchdown (20 years, 53 days).

Allen found the end zone twice during the afternoon’s triumph over the Tennessee Titans. His first score came on a 12-yard catch from NFL legend Aaron Rodgers with less than two minutes to spare in the first half. The second touchdown, which became the game-winning score, was a 20-yard run down the right sideline with under five minutes to play in the match.

In addition to his touchdowns, the Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, native finished with seven carries for 33 yards and corralled two catches for 23 yards.

Head coach Robert Saleh had this to say of Allen after the contest:

“There’s no doubt he’s gonna run over whoever is standing in his way.”

While New York running back Breece Hall still commands the Jets’ running back room, Allen’s output indicates his involvement should only grow within New York’s offense for the remainder of the season.

The Jets square off with the Patriots on Sept. 19 and Broncos on Sept. 29 at home over the next two weeks.

Instant analysis after Jets’ 24-17 win over Titans in Week 2

Instant analysis after the New York Jets defeated the Tennessee Titans 24-17 in Week 2

The Jets got to 1-1 after a tough win over a gritty Tennessee Titans team in Week 2, giving them some momentum heading into their home opener Thursday against the New England Patriots during Week 3’s “Thursday Night Football” matchup.

Let’s talk some notes from the game.

Offensively, the Jets (1-1) seem to have already figured out how to utilize running backs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen on offense. Hall (14 carries for 62 yards, seven catches for 52 yards and a touchdown) remains the lead back but the rookie Allen (seven carries for 33 yards, two catches for 23 yards and a touchdown) is already solidly in the mix behind him. The two combined for 95 yards on 21 carries as the Jets were able to find success on the ground.

New York took advantage of Titans’ miscues with turnovers and turning those into points. The Jets turned an interception of Tennessee (0-2) quarterback Will Levis into a touchdown on a 12-play drive (Allen’s 12-yard reception from Aaron Rodgers). They also got a blocked punt from Irv Charles and scored three on the insinuating drive.

New York then kept alive following a roughing the passer penalty on Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. That drive culminated with a 26-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Hall to give the Jets their first lead of the game at 14-10.

The Jets got it done in all three phases of the game. They were steady on offense, particularly in the second half to take advantage of the game late, had key turnovers on defense and their special teams came up clutch as well with the blocked punt. The Jets were actually out-gained by the Titans 300-265. Both teams were 5-of-12 on third down. Overall, the teams were pretty even in numbers. Just goes to show how turnovers can help determine a game outcome. The Jets had two takeaways, the Titans had zero.

The Jets were helped by some wacky play from Levis, truth be told. No one has any idea what he was thinking on that throw early in the game. The Jets were quite fine with it, however, as they recovered a fumble via linebacker Quincy Williams.

Overall, a solid day for the offense. That side of the ball started moving better as the day wore on and the defense got to Levis four times and picked him off once. The big story, though, is the continued pile of injuries for the Jets. Linebacker C.J. Mosley left with a foot injury. But the big injury was the likely torn Achilles for edge Jermaine Johnson. The breakout star of 2023 is already done for 2024 in heartbreaking fashion. All eyes now turn to Haason Reddick and whether this will make the Jets cave in on a new deal for Reddick to help fill the void.

It’s now a quick turnaround for the Jets. They play again in just a few days in their home opener set for Thursday against the Patriots. New England fell 23-20 in overtime to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.

WATCH: Former Badger Braelon Allen scores first career NFL touchdowns

Former Wisconsin and current New York Jets running back Braelon Allen scored the first two touchdowns of his young NFL career on Sunday.

Allen kick-started his huge day against the Tennessee Titans with a 12-yard receiving score on a first-down play late in the second quarter. With four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers under center at the opposing 12-yard line, Allen caught a short pass on the left side of the sticks before lunging in for the score.

Allen’s first touchdown knotted the contest at seven points with 1:47 remaining in the first half. Afterward, he was mobbed by New York’s offensive line unit and congratulated by Rodgers, one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.

His second touchdown was the deciding play of the game. The Jets and Titans were tied at 17 with 4:36 remaining. Rodgers gave a second-down handoff to Allen, who burst through the line, accelerated into the second-level and found the corner of the end zone.

A week ago, Allen totaled one catch for nine yards and one carry for eight yards in garbage time against the San Francisco 49ers in his NFL debut. He didn’t see the field until late in the fourth quarter, so his early action against the Titans suggests head coach Robert Saleh may utilize him in the offense more often going forward.

New York defeated Tennessee 24-17 at Nissan Stadium to secure its first victory of the season. Allen had nine combined touches, 55 total yards and the two touchdowns in the victory.

Jets thwart Titans’ last-ditch drive to square record

The New York Jets are 1-1 after denying a Titans drive late in the game

Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets downed the Tennessee Titans 24-17 on Sunday.

A 20-yard run by Braelon Allen was the difference. The score came with 4:31 left.

The Titans had a last chance to tie the game or win with a touchdown and two-point conversion.

Will Levis pulled off a miraculous scramble on the march.

However, the second-year quarterback was unable to lead the Titans to the end zone and they fell to 0-2.

Rodgers threw touchdown passes to Allen and Breece Hall. It was the first time since 1994 the Jets had two running backs score on touchdown passes in a game.

Another Braelon Allen touchdown puts Jets up on Titans in fourth quarter (video):

The New York Jets showed their clutch gene on offense for the first time in 2024 against the Tennessee Titans.

In the fourth quarter with the game tied at 17, Braelon Allen decided he was not OK with just one touchdown.

The rookie scored for a second time against the Titans, giving his team the late lead.

Allen, running to his right, took the handoff from quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In impressive fashion, Allen burst through a hole and had nothing but room in front of him.

Allen scored on the 20-yard carry, bringing the score to 24-17.

WATCH: Braelon Allen ties Jets-Titans at 7-7:

The New York Jets tied up their Week 2 matchup against the Tennessee Titans thanks to Braelon Allen.

Just before halftime, quarterback Aaron Rodgers led a drive into Titans’ territory. In the red zone, Rodgers faked a pass and shoveled the ball to Allen in front of him.

Thanks to blocking in front of him, Allen took the ball to the house, tying the game at 7-7 just before halftime.

Braelon Allen should get more carries in week 2: Jets vs. Titans

New York Jets rookie running back Braelon Allen barely got a chance to make a difference in week 1. Can he help his team vs. Titans?

The New York Jets rushing attack was very unimpressive in week 1 and rookie running back Braelon Allen didn’t even get a chance to make a difference. Will the Jets allow Allen to be an asset in week 2?

Allen is currently No. 2 on the team depth chart behind Breece Hall. Hall’s acclaim far exceeds the output he produced versus the San Francisco 49ers and fans our anticipating a bounce back game. However, with the Buffalo Bills off to a 2-0 season start, the New York Jets cannot afford another lack luster offensive performance from Hall.

Furthermore, transferring some of Hall’s touches to Allen makes sense for various reasons:

  • To maintain the attrition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Jets need to focus on establishing the run and sustaining offensive drives.
  • Also, by swapping fresh legs in and out of the lineup, Hall will have an opportunity to rest.

The Jets do in fact need Hall in the screen passing game and on those quick outside zone runs. Therefore, the Jets’ should give Allen some carries to help maintain the attrition of the offense.
