Blaine Gabbert has even more reason to celebrate now

Buccaneers backup QB Blaine Gabbert took to Instagram recently to announce some big news.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing quarterback Blaine Gabbert back to be Tom Brady’s backup quarterback in 2020. The former first-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars was supposed to serve as Jameis Winston’s primary backup last year, but a shoulder injury suffered in the preseason landed him on IR. Given Winston’s erratic play in 2019, you’ve got to wonder if Gabbert would’ve been given a chance to start had he been healthy.

And while he looks to pick up football tips from the Golden Boy this season, Gabbert may also want to ask Brady for some advice on being a married man, as the backup QB recently took to Instagram with some exciting news.

Take a look.

It’s been a busy offseason for Bucs players. Gabbert joins both Chris Godwin and Cameron Brate as players who popped the question this offseason, and both Ndamukong Suh and Scotty Miller recently walked down the aisle with their lovely new brides (as did Winston).

Congrats to Gabbert!

A look at the offseason fishing exploits of Blaine Gabbert

Bucs backup QB Blaine Gabbert has been busy doing a little fishing this offseason. Take a look at some of his photos.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have a future Hall of Fame quarterback suiting up for them this season in Tom Brady, but the under-the-radar move in free agency may have been the re-signing of Blaine Gabbert to be Brady’s backup.

Gabbert, the former first-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars, spent the 2019 season on injured reserve after injuring his shoulder in the preseason. Had he been healthy, you have to wonder whether Gabbert would’ve gotten a chance to start at some point during the season given how Jameis Winston struggled at times.

For now, though, Gabbert’s focus will be on being a worthy and dependable backup to Brady, which might mean more time on the field and classroom and less time on the boat. The avid fisherman was active this offseason out on the water, and documented many of his outings on Instagram. Here’s a look at a few.

Gabbert and former Bucs legend Warren Sapp should definitely team up for a fishing expedition together.
