Raiders shut out of Pro Football Focus All Pro First team

Raiders shut out of Pro Football Focus All Pro First team

While we await the AP All Pro team announcement, other outlets are releasing theirs. Wednesday it was the NFLPA who put out theirs as voted on by the players themselves. On that team, both Maxx Crosby and AJ Cole were first teamers. Thursday it was Pro Football Focus’s turn. And suffice to say, they don’t agree with the players.

Neither Maxx Crosby nor AJ Cole made the PFF All Pro squad. Meaning no Raiders made the team at all. Though Crosby was named second team.

Making the squad at EDGE over Crosby were Myles Garrett and Micah Parsons. Let’s compare some numbers, shall we.

Player Sacks QB Hits Pressures TFL Tkls Pen
Maxx Crosby 14.5 31 94 23** 90* 6
Myles Garrett 14 30 86 17 42 11
Micah Parsons 14 33 103** 18 64 7

*Led all EDGE
**Led the league

Crosby outdid the other two in four of six key statistics — including sacks — and led the league in tackles for loss.

But, you know, grades.

Making the squad over Cole was Bradley Pinion and Bryan Anger. That’s because Cole was not named first or second team. To the numbers!

Player Avg Net avg Long IN 20 TB
AJ Cole 50.4 45.1* 83* 34 6
Bradley Pinion 47 41.5 66 17 3
Bryan Anger 51.4 44.9 63 27 2

*Led the league

This has to be some kind of joke, right? Bradley Pinion had one of the worst average and net averages in the NFL among full time punters and didn’t hold the lead over Cole or Anger in any meaningful statistic. Cole, on the other hand, led the league in two categories and had literally twice as many punts inside the 20 on the same number of punts as Pinion (75).

Sure. That makes perfect sense.

Bradley Pinion named Falcons’ Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee

Punter Bradley Pinion was named the Falcons’ Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee

All 32 NFL teams announced their nominees for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award on Tuesday morning. The Atlanta Falcons chose punter Bradley Pinion as their 2023 nominee.

“The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award presented by Nationwide is the league’s most prestigious honor and acknowledges NFL players who excel on the field and demonstrate a passion for creating a lasting positive impact beyond the game,” NFL.com explains.

When the Falcons presented Pinion with the nomination, they tricked him into thinking he was about to film a video about Younghoe Koo. Watch as Pinion is nominated below, as shared by the team’s Twitter account.

According to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Falcons have agreed to terms with Pinion on a three-year, $8.65 million deal.

10 free agent fits that make sense for Patriots

10 free agent fits for the Patriots heading into the offseason.

The New England Patriots enter 2023 with some glaring holes on the roster after missing the playoffs for the second time in three seasons. As of today, per Miguel Benzan (PatsCap), the Patriots have $34,067,070 in cap space.

The team could create more cap space by structuring contracts to fit, if needed. Before any signings get announced, let’s look at the players who could fit the mold in New England.

The Patriots may not spend as heavy as 2021, and certainly wont sign all of the top free agents. But what free agents fit well enough with the team to prompt a move in 2023?

Here are 10 players that could be future Patriots.

Not to be outdone by all the other big-name former Clemson Tigers making plays all over the NFL, Super Bowl champion punter Bradley Pinion had a great performance Sunday.

Pinion notched four punts for a collective 210 yards and was key in flipping field position for his Atlanta Falcons team — a team that went on to beat the Carolina Panthers, 37-34, in overtime.

Prior to signing with the Falcons this past offseason, Pinion had played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since 2019 and was previously a member of the San Francisco 49ers from 2015-18 after being drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft (165th overall).

Pinion won Super Bowl LV with the Buccaneers when they beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9, on Feb. 7, 2021.

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons held joint practices this week at the Falcons’ facility in Georgia ahead of their preseason matchup on Saturday afternoon at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Clemson of course is well represented on those NFL squads, as a number of former Tigers now play for the Jaguars and Falcons.

Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne and Tyler Shatley of the Jaguars, and Bradley Pinion of the Falcons, each had a message for this year’s Clemson football team as it gets set to embark on the 2022 season.

“I want to say good luck to you guys. Keep working hard, stay focused,” Shatley said.

“Just keep balling,” Etienne said. “I got big things for y’all in the future. I’ll be tuned in watching y’all every week.”

“Crush it this year, fellas,” Pinion chimed in. “Appreciate all the support down here in Atlanta.”

“Miss you guys. To all my guys at Clemson, y’all go kill it,” Lawrence added. “You know what the goal is. So, go Tigers.”

There was a Clemson Football reunion at an NFL training camp on Tuesday.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney attended the Atlanta Falcons’ practice Tuesday morning, when he was able to see a few of his former players.

A trio of former Tigers are now teammates with the Falcons in defensive lineman Grady Jarrett, cornerback A.J. Terrell and punter Bradley Pinion, the latter of whom signed with Atlanta this offseason after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jarrett and Terrell have been with the Falcons since being drafted by the organization in 2015 and 2020, respectively.

Swinney coached Jarrett at Clemson from 2011-14, Pinion from 2012-14 and Terrell from 2017-19.

A former Clemson football player has found a new home in the NFL.

The Atlanta Falcons announced Thursday they have signed former Tiger punter Bradley Pinion.

Pinion, who was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this month, had played with the Buccaneers since 2019 and was previously a member of the San Francisco 49ers from 2015-18 after being drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft (165th overall).

Pinion won Super Bowl LV with the Buccaneers when they beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9, on Feb. 7, 2021.

For his NFL career (2015-2021), Pinion has played in 111 games and averaged 43.7 yards per punt to go with 418 touchbacks on kickoffs and a 78.9 percent touchback percentage.

At Clemson, Pinion had a 41.1-yard average and 39.2-yard net average on 140 punts in 34 games (25 starts) in his career. He had 55 punts inside the 20 with only two touchbacks and punted 102 times without a touchback (with 42 inside the 20) before his first touchback in 2014.
