Boston College at Clemson odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Boston College at Clemson odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston College Eagles (4-0, 0-0 ACC) and No. 19 Clemson Tigers (2-2, 1-1) meet Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Boston College vs. Clemson odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Eagles roll into this one a perfect 4-for-4, including a 41-34 overtime win over Missouri last weekend in Chestnut Hill. It was a nice win for new QB Dennis Grosel, who took over in the UMass win after QB Phil Jurkovec suffered a season-ending wrist injury.

The Tigers are coming off an overtime loss at NC State last weekend, falling 27-21. Two losses before October isn’t something we’ve seen from Clemson since 2014. They’re also 0-4 ATS with the Under going 3-1.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Boston College at Clemson odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Clemson 27, Boston College 20

Money line

Clemson (-800) is a good bet to bounce back as a third loss in five games is unfathomable. But you can’t risk eight times your potential return on this team that has been more inconsistent than anybody in the ACC.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

BOSTON COLLEGE +15.5 (-112) is a very good play against a Clemson -15.5 (-108) side that hasn’t covered in four tries this season. Grosel has proven that he is capable of running this offense and keeping them on track.

There is just something missing from this Tigers offense, and them beating anybody by two touchdowns, let alone an unbeaten and fundamentally sound team, seems rather unlikely.

Over/Under

OVER 45.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit play. Clemson’s offense is going to get revved up sooner or later, and B.C. hasn’t really missed a beat with Grosel under center. I wouldn’t go crazy and slam the Over here, but we’ll see enough points.
