Boston Bruins at Toronto Maple Leafs odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Boston Bruins at Toronto Maple Leafs odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Boston Bruins (35-13-14) and the Toronto Maple Leafs (35-17-8) meet Monday at Scotiabank Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Bruins vs. Maple Leafs odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Bruins suffered a 5-1 setback on the road against the New York Islanders on Saturday, pushing against the total at most shops. The B’s have managed just a 3-3-5 mark across the past 11 outings, picking up 11 points out of a possible 22 in the span.

These teams have met twice this season, with Boston posting a 3-2 shootout win at TD Garden on Nov. 2 as a slight underdog, while the B’s won 4-3 in overtime in Toronto on Dec. 2. The Bruins have won 5 in a row in the series, although 4 of those victories are by a single goal.

The Maple Leafs edged the New York Rangers 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday, cashing the Over (6.5). The total has gone high at a 4-1-1 clip in the past 6 outings, while Toronto has won 8 of the previous 9 contests. The Leafs have scored 4 or more goals in 9 of the past 10 contests, averaging 4.8 goals per game (GPG) in the stretch.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Bruins at Maple Leafs projected goalies

Linus Ullmark (16-7-6, 2.80 GAA, .910 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Joseph Woll (9-5-1, 2.75 GAA, .918 SV%)

Ullmark allowed 5 goals on 26 shots in Saturday’s 5-1 road loss against the Islanders. He has allowed 3 or more goals in each of his past 4 starts, and he is winless in the past 5 starts since Feb. 8 against the Vancouver Canucks in a 17-save shutout.

Woll is projected to get the starting nod. He allowed just 2 goals on 32 shots Thursday against the Arizona Coyotes in a 4-2 victory after a 35-game absence due to injury. That was his 1st appearance since early December due to a high ankle sprain.

Bruins at Maple Leafs picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Maple Leafs 3

Moneyline

The BRUINS (+110) are a good play on the road as short ‘dogs on the road.

While Boston suffered a 5-1 road loss against the Islanders last time out, the B’s have posted 5 straight victories in the series, although 4 of those wins are by a single goal, so be careful.

The Maple Leafs (-130) have won 9 of the past 10 games since Feb. 13, but Toronto has struggled over the years with Boston. Until the Leafs start to beat the Bruins on the regular, Toronto simply cannot be trusted.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Bruins +1.5 (-210) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward.

On the flip side, the Maple Leafs -1.5 (+170) have lost 5 in a row in the series, and Toronto is just 5-11 as a favorite on the puck line in the past 16 tries since Jan. 11.

AVOID.

Over/Under

The OVER 6 (-120) is worth a play, but go lightly.

The total has gone high at a 4-1-1 clip in the past 6 games for Toronto, while going 8-3-1 across the previous 12 contests.

For Boston, it has cashed the Over at a 2-0-1 pace in the previous 3 outings, while going 5-2-1 across the past 8 contests. And in this series, the Over is 6-3 in the past 9 meetings, while going high in 4-1-1 in the past 6 battles at Scotiabank Arena.

Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Florida Panthers (4-3-0) take on the Boston Bruins (7-0-1) Monday at TD Garden. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+/Hulu). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Panthers hit the road after a 4-game homestand that was capped off with a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken Saturday. They went 3-1 on the homestand and have won 4 out of 5 after a slow start to the season. C Aleksander Barkov and LW Matthew Tkachuk each only have 1 goal on the season, and it’s a matter of time before they heat up.

The Bruins brushed off a stunning 4-3 overtime defeat by the Anaheim Ducks Thursday with a 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings Saturday. They are 1 of 2 remaining teams unbeaten in regulation. RW David Pastrnak is off to a buzzing start with 8 goals and 5 assists in 8 games.

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (3-3-0, 2.88 GAA, .906 SV%) vs. Linus Ullmark (3-0-1, 1.74 GAA, .937 SV%)

“Bob” stopped 30 of 32 shots in the win over the Kraken Saturday. He has won 3 of his last 4 starts. He lost his only start against the B’s last regular season and allowed 3 goals on 33 shots. He defeated them 3 times in the playoffs.

Ullmark was last between the pipes Thursday for the overtime loss to the Ducks. He stopped 28 of 32 shots in the affair. He saw the Panthers twice in the regular season last year and went 2-0-0 with a 3.01 GAA and .925 SV%. He was 3-3 with a 3.34 GAA and .896 SV% in their 1st-round loss to the Panthers in the playoffs.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 3, Panthers 2

Moneyline

Boston is 3-0-1 at home this season and was 34-4-3 there last season. It’s an incredibly tall task to upend the Bruins in their building. But Florida found the recipe to get past them in the playoffs, so I like them to keep it close.

Take the BRUINS -165 or look to the spread, which will be about the same price.

Puck line/Against the spread

I like the PANTHERS +1.5 (-165) because I still give them a chance to get it done. They are 3-4 on the PL and 1-2 on the road. So there is some risk here, but last year’s experience will bode well.

Over/Under

The Panthers are 3-3 O/U this year, and Boston is 2-6. I’d be more comfortable with a 6.5 number, but I’ll LEAN UNDER 6 (+105).

Boston Bruins at Anaheim Ducks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Boston Bruins at Anaheim Ducks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Boston Bruins (4-0-0) play the 3rd contest in a 4-game road trip against the Anaheim Ducks (1-3-0) Sunday at Honda Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (NHL Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Bruins vs. Ducks odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Bruins doubled up the Los Angeles Kings Saturday at Crypto.com Arena in the first of a back-to-back set in Southern California. The 4 goals scored mark a season best, and the B’s are a perfect 4-0-0 overall. The Over (5.5) result against the Kings also was the first of the season after 3 consecutive Unders.

The Ducks were on the short end of a 2-1 road loss against the Arizona Coyotes Saturday, and Anaheim has dropped 3 of the past 4 games. However, it did win its only game against an Eastern Conference team, the Carolina Hurricanes, by a 6-3 score last Sunday.

Bruins at Ducks projected goalies

Linus Ullmark (2-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .958 SV%) vs. John Gibson (0-2-0, 3.06 GAA, .902 SV%)

Ullmark is expected to get the starting nod after Jeremy Swayman was in between the pipes in Los Angeles Saturday. The 30-year-old Swede last started in San Jose, turning aside 26 of the 27 shots he faced, and he has allowed just 2 total goals on 48 shots this season.

Gibson kicked out 21 of the 24 shots he faced in a narrow 3-2 loss against the Dallas Stars on Thursday in his most recent action. He has allowed exactly 3 goals in each of his first 2 showings, but the offensive support has been scant.

Bruins at Ducks picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Ducks 1

Moneyline

The Bruins (-250) will cost you 2½ times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward, even if this is a mismatch on paper.

Even tossing the B’s into a multi-team parlay or single-game parlay-plus is not worth it, as heavy favorites suck all of the value out of your ticket.

AVOID.

Puck line/Against the spread

The BRUINS -1.5 (-105) are a much better play on the puck line.

Yes, the Ducks +1.5 (-115) won their only game against an Eastern Conference team last Sunday vs. Carolina, but that’s a very giving team during the early going. Boston has way fewer holes, especially on defense and in goal.

Over/Under

The UNDER 6 (-110) should be a slam-dunk play. The B’s are averaging 3.3 goals per game (GPG) in 4 outings, while allowing just 1.5 GPG.

The Ducks have scored 2 or fewer goals in their 3 losses, and Anaheim will have tremendous difficulty trying to solve Ullmark and the Boston D.

Boston Bruins at San Jose Sharks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Boston Bruins at San Jose Sharks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Boston Bruins (2-0-0) and San Jose Sharks (0-2-1) meet Thursday at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Bruins vs. Sharks odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Bruins have picked up where they left off in the 2022-23 regular season. Boston racked up a record 65 wins and 135 points, and it has 2 wins and 4 points in just 2 games.

The Sharks have managed to pick up just 1 point out of a possible 6. It looked like San Jose had a good chance to win against the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday, leading 3-2 after 2 periods. However, the Sharks were trampled for 4 goals in a 6-minute span, and the Canes doubled up San Jose 6-3 as the Over (6) cashed.

  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Bruins -1.5 (-110) | Sharks +1.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Bruins at Sharks projected goalies

Linus Ullmark (1-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .952 SV%) vs. Kaapo Kahkonen (0-1-0, 4.00 GAA, .875 SV%)

Ullmark allowed just a single goal on 21 shots in a 3-1 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks last Wednesday. It’s been a slow go, splitting the 2 starts so far with Jeremy Swayman. This will be just his 2nd start after a week off.

Kahkonen coughed up 4 goals on 32 shots in a 4-1 setback Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights on home ice, and now he faces another high-powered offense. He lost his only start against VGK last season, allowing 2 goals on 38 shots, but he received no support.

Bruins at Sharks picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Sharks 1

Moneyline

The Bruins (-275) will cost you nearly 3 times your potential return, and that’s way too expensive, especially on the road. While, on paper, it’s difficult to envision a scenario where the high-flying B’s will fall to the lowly Sharks (+220), the risk is way too much for the reward.

AVOID.

Puck line/Against the spread

The BRUINS -1.5 (-110) are a decent play on the puck line. The B’s are 1-1 as a favorite on the puck line, cashing Wednesday against Chicago, although it failed to cover Saturday against Nashville.

On the flip side, the Sharks +1.5 (-110) have cashed just once in 3 games on the puck line, all as an underdog. Boston is a strong play laying the goal and a half, and the ALTERNATE LINE – BRUINS -2.5 (+145) at plus-money is worth playing lightly, too.

Over/Under

UNDER 6 (+100) is a decent play at even-money, as it isn’t hard to envision the Bruins scoring, but where are the Sharks goals going to come from against Ullmark?

The Under hit in the 1st 2 games for the Sharks, but the Over cashed last time out against the Hurricanes. The Under is 2-0 in both games for the B’s, too.

Chicago Blackhawks at Boston Bruins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Chicago Blackhawks at Boston Bruins odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Chicago Blackhawks (1-0) visit the Boston Bruins for a Wednesday night battle at TD Garden. The opening puck drop is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Blackhawks vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Chicago opened its season with a 4-2 win at the Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday and is playing the back half of 2 games in as many days. The Blackhawks got a big goaltending effort from G Petr Mrazek (38 saves) and came up with 3 goals in the 3d period to seal the victory. First-overall pick C Connor Bedard recorded an assist on Chicago’s first goal and had 5 shots in his regular-season debut.

The Bruins clocked an NHL-record 65-12-5 mark last season but failed to pay it off by losing 4-3 to the Florida Panthers in the 1st round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. A lot of changes have been made to the roster. Gone are longtime standouts C Patrice Bergeron and C David Krejci, but Vezina Trophy winner G Linus Ullmark is back. So are the team’s 2 leading scorers from last season, RW David Pastrnak and LW Brad Marchand, so Boston should again be a serious contender in the Eastern Conference.

    Against the spread (ATS): Blackhawks +1.5 (+105) | Bruins -1.5 (-130)
    Over/Under (O/U): 6 (O: -120 | U: 100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Blackhawks at Bruins projected goalies

Arvid Soderblom (2022-23: 2-10-2, 3.45 GAA, .894 SV%) vs. Linus Ullmark (2022-23: 40-6-1, 1.89 GAA, .938 SV%)

Soderblom is a 24-year-old making just his 16th career start. He posted a solid .914 SV% on the road last season, but that was in the small sample of 6 games.

Ullmark was sensational a year ago, posting a .944 SV% in even-strength situations, but the then-29-year-old allowed 4 even-strength markers and 1 powerplay goal in a shaky 6-3 loss to the ‘Hawks on March 14.

Blackhawks at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Blackhawks 2

Moneyline

Youthful Chicago played tough at Pittsburgh Tuesday, but the Blackhawks trailed 2-1 after 2 periods and might well have been down 4-1 if not for the superior goaltending of Mrazek, who made more than a few 10-bell saves in keeping the ‘Hawks in the game.

The Blackhawks started 3 rookies on the blueline at Pittsburgh. How does that group, let alone Bedard and the rest of the team handle the quick turnaround for this contest in Boston? The Bruins will want to come out with some fury to exorcise some demons from last April.

Look to the Puck line for the most value here: PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

Chicago went 0-for-4 on the powerplay at Pittsburgh, and the Blackhawks have all new lines in this new post-Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews era. Look for some growing pains on offense.

Ullmark plus veteran savvy plus rest equals a cushion for the Bruins in their home opener.

BET BOSTON -1.5 (-130).

Over/Under

No leverage here: PASS.

Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins Game 7 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins Game 7 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Florida Panthers hit the road to face the Boston Bruins in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference playoff series Sunday. Puck drop at TD Garden is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Bruins odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Series: Tied 3-3

The Panthers just will not go away. They scored 4 goals in the 3rd period for a 7-5 win in Game 6. LW Matthew Tkachuk had 2 goals in the game and now has 4 in the last 3 games of the series. The Panthers scored 1st in Games 5-6 and have kept Boston chasing them. However, the Panthers have had an extra gear the Bruins haven’t been able to match late in games.

Boston got 2 goals each from LW Tyler Bertuzzi and RW David Pastrnak in Game 6 and had the lead midway through the 3rd period. The Bruins were 3-for-4 on the power play and outshot the Panthers 34-33, but still couldn’t hold them off.

Panthers at Bruins Game 7 projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (24-20-3, 3.07 GAA, .901 SV%, 1 SO – regular season) vs. Linus Ullmark (40-6-1, 1.89 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO – regular season)

Bobrovsky was just sturdy enough in Game 6, stopping 29 of 34 shots. Only 1 goal he allowed was at 5-on-5 with 3 power-play goals and a short-handed tally. He has now allowed 5 goals in 2 starts to inflate his 4.40 GAA deflate his .883 SV%.

Ullmark allowed a season-high 6 goals on 32 shots in Game 6. He has now allowed 10 goals in the last 2 games. Ullmark has a 3.34 GAA and pedestrian .896 SV% in the series. He’ll need to tighten it up if the team wants to avoid a massive upset.

Panthers at Bruins Game 7 picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Panthers 3

Moneyline

In Game 7, anything can happen. So the +185 for Florida looks enticing. But the record-setting Bruins are heavily favored for a reason, and there’s no rhyme or reason why they shouldn’t advance on home ice.

However, we’re not paying -225 on anyone in a Game 7. PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

Only 1 game in the series has finished within 1 goal, but the Panthers are a great value on the puck line in the event they can pull off the unthinkable. Florida has scored 17 goals in its 3 wins in the series, and they need that kind of game to win. The Panthers are 6-1 in their last 7 road games. I look for a fast-paced, shooting range kind of game.

Take the PANTHERS +1.5 (-140).

Over/Under

The Over has cashed in the last 3 games and 4 out of the last 5 in the series. The Over is 8-2 in the last 10 between the teams and 4-1 in the last 5 in Boston. An Over game is the only chance the Panthers have, and they’re coming.

Take the OVER 6 (-120).

Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers Game 6 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers Game 6 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston Bruins try again to eliminate the Florida Panthers in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference playoff series Friday. Puck drop at FLA Live Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Bruins vs. Panthers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Series: Bruins lead 3-2

The Bruins dropped Game 5 at home, 4-3 in overtime, in a game they never led. The teams traded goals until Panthers LW Matthew Tkachuk was able to deliver the game-winner on an open net after Bruins G Linus Ullmark sprawled to his right to make a save after committing a turnover behind his net.

The series shifts back to Florida where Boston dominated the Panthers in Games 3 and 4 with 6-2 and 4-2 victories. If Florida can survive, Game 7 will be back in Boston Sunday.

Bruins at Panthers Game 6 projected goalies

Linus Ullmark (40-6-1, 1.89 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO – regular season) vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (24-20-3, 3.07 GAA, .901 SV%, 1 SO – regular season)

Ullmark has been decent with a 2.79 GAA and .913 SV% this series. However, Florida has exposed a weak spot over his glove side. Outside of Game 1, he has allowed at least 2 goals per game. He was great in Games 3-4 in this building with 70 saves on 74 shots.

Bobrovsky was really good in Game 5, stopping 44 of 47 shots. He allowed 5 goals on 30 shots in his first start of the series in Game 4, but he hadn’t started in nearly a month before that. He’ll have to be great again in Game 6.

Bruins at Panthers Game 6 picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Panthers 2

Moneyline

Boston won both games in the series in Florida, and the road team has won the last 4 overall. Boston is 36-16 in the last 52 meetings overall and 21-10 in the last 31 in Florida. They turn out the lights in this series, but it’s not a sure enough thing to pay -175 for the moneyline.

PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

All 3 of Boston’s wins have been by multiple goals, and they really took it to the Panthers in Games 3-4 in this building. The 4-2 score in Game 3 doesn’t paint an accurate picture because Florida got a couple of late, fluky goals. Boston dominated those games. The Bruins will score early to apply the pressure, and the puck line should cash.

Take the BRUINS -1.5 (+140).

Over/Under

We’re forecasting a push here, and the Over is 3-2 in the series. The Over was 1-1 in the 2 games in Florida. The Over is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings overall between the Bruins and Panthers, but the Under is 9-4-1 in the last 14 meetings in Florida.

It could go either way, so PASS on the total. Head to the Win/Total section, take BRUINS TO WIN AND OVER 5.5 GOALS (+145).

The Panthers suffered a disappointing 6-2 setback on home ice in Game 4 Sunday night, and Florida was outscored 10-4 in Sunrise in the last 2 games. As such, the Panthers were pushed to the brink of elimination, and have to win 3 in a row, including 2 in Boston, to stay alive.

The Bruins have scored 3 or more goals in each of the 4 games in this series, averaging 4.0 goals per game (GPG) so far. Boston is 4-for-14 (28.6%) on the power play in this series, which is slightly better than its 22.2% mark on the man advantage during the regular season, according to covers.com.

Panthers at Bruins projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (24-20-3, 3.07 GAA, .901 SV%, 1 SO – regular season) vs. Linus Ullmark (40-6-1, 1.89 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO – regular season)

Bobrovsky allowed 5 goals on 30 shots, including a pair of power-play goals, in his 1st action in the crease since late March. He actually played pretty well considering the long layoff, and he gave his team a chance to win, down just 2-1 heading to the 3rd period before the wheels came off.

Ullmark had an eventful Game 4. He allowed just 2 goals on 43 shots, but was sent off at 16:49 of the 3rd period for trying to fight Florida forward Matthew Tkachuk during a fracas between the teams. Jeremy Swayman finished up and turned aside the only shot he faced.

Panthers at Bruins picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Panthers 2

Moneyline

The Bruins (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your initial wager, and that’s quite expensive. While this is an elimination game, and I feel Boston is going to win, there is too much risk and not enough reward playing such a heavy favorite.

AVOID, and look to the puck line instead.

Puck line/Against the spread

The BRUINS -1.5 (+100) are a much better play at even-money on the puck line.

Boston is 3-1 as a favorite in this series, which cashing on the puck line in each of the 3 victories. In fact, the margin of victory for the Bruins in their 3 wins is 2.7 GPG.

On the flip side, the Panthers +1.5 (-120) are 1-4 in the last 5 games dating back to the regular season as an underdog against the puck line.

Over/Under

I think the Over/Under 6 lands right on the number.

We have seen the Over and Under alternate in this series, with the Over cashing in Game 4. In the 4 games, we have had a total of 27 goals, or an average of 6.8 GPG. If I was forced to pick, I’d lean ever so slightly to the Over.

However, the best course of action is to PASS.

Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers Game 4 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston Bruins try to keep the foot on the gas against the Florida Panthers in Game 4 Sunday. Puck drop at FLA Live Arena is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Bruins vs. Panthers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Series: Bruins lead 2-1

The Bruins dominated in Game 3 from start to finish, winning by a score of 4-2, but it wasn’t that close. Florida got a couple of fluky goals late in the 3rd period to make it look interesting, but they could not crack Boston’s defense or patience for most of the game. The Bruins outshot the Panthers 35-31 and were in control throughout.

Florida tried very hard to agitate Boston with late hits and slashes, but the Bruins wouldn’t take the bait. The Panthers went down 3-0 midway through the 3rd and opted to switch goalies, giving Sergei Bobrovsky his 1st action since March 27. The Panthers were able to score 2 goals in the final 6 minutes – so maybe they go with him in Game 4.

Bruins at Panthers Game 4 projected goalies

Linus Ullmark (40-6-1, 1.89 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO – regular season) vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (24-20-3, 3.07 GAA, .901 SV%, 1 SO – regular season)

Ullmark stopped 29 of 31 shots and had a shutout going for the 1st 54 minutes of Game 3. He’s now 2-1 with a 2.69 GAA and .913 SV% in the series. It’s possible the team goes with Jeremy Swayman here to give Ullmark a breather, but the teams will have 2 days off before Game 5.

Alex Lyon allowed 3 goals on 26 shots before being pulled in Game 3. Bobrovsky stopped 8 of 9 shots he saw, and the team seemed to respond after the swap. So Bobrovsky will likely get the nod here. He is 17-29 with a 3.14 GAA and .901 SV% in 52 career playoff games (46 starts).

Bruins at Panthers Game 4 picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 4, Panthers 3

Moneyline

The Bruins have been down 2 centers with Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci battling injuries. The Panthers have been slashing Charlie Coyle trying to get him out of the game somehow, and he’s going to have some bruises when this series is over. With the way the Bruins looked in Game 3, this one could be over in 5 or 6 games.

Take the BRUINS -155.

Puck line/Against the spread

The puck line has cashed in all 3 games in the series, but Florida knows they have to come with everything to get back in it. They lit the lamp twice in 78 seconds to get back into Game 3. So I think this will be a tight game, but I’m not interested in Panthers +1.5 (-190).

Instead, head to the Win/Total section and under the 1×2 and Both Teams to Score 1 or More Goals in Regular Time, take BOSTON TO WIN AND YES (+120).

Over/Under

This part is tough as the Over has only hit once this series. But Florida may be in a sticky tendy situation and have to turn up the heat to even the series. However, Boston’s defense was sweltering for most of Game 3. We’re forecasting an Over cash here, but I’m going to AVOID the total.

Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers Game 3 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston Bruins hit the road Friday with a chip on their shoulder for Game 3 of their 1st-round series against the Florida Panthers. Puck drop at FLA Live Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Bruins vs. Panthers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Series: Tied 1-1

The Panthers shocked the Bruins at home 6-3 in Game 2 to steal home-ice advantage. The teams traded goals in the 2nd period before Florida unleashed a 4-goal onslaught in the 3rd period. Boston had only lost 1 game at home by multiple goals all year. The Bruins won their last 8 at home and 15 of their last 16 before the Panthers took Game 2.

Boston learned how quickly Florida can turn the tables. Boston actually outshot the Panthers 37 to 30 in Game 2. We also learned Bruins captain C Patrice Bergeron is dealing with an upper-body injury that he suffered in the last game of the season and is no longer sidelined for illness; he remains questionable for Game 3.

Bruins at Panthers Game 3 projected goalies

Linus Ullmark (40-6-1, 1.89 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO – regular season) vs. Alex Lyon (9-4-2, 2.89 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SO – regular season)

Ullmark struggled in Game 2, stopping 24 of 29 shots. None of the goals were on the power play. Ullmark was 2-0 with a 3.01 GAA and .925 SV% in 2 starts against Florida in the regular season. Though he’s 29, Ullmark only has 4 playoff starts under his belt now, which is something to keep in mind if he struggles again.

Lyon was solid in Game 2 after looking a little lost at times in the 1st game. He stopped 34 of 37 shots and has allowed 3 goals in each tilt. He stopped 38 of 40 shots in his only regular season game against the B’s this year. This is also his first taste of the playoffs, and he should expect more pressure in Game 3.

Bruins at Panthers Game 3 picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 4, Bruins 3

Moneyline

The Panthers were 23-13-5 on home ice this year. Look for a chippy game as both teams have jawed at one another. The Bruins had the best penalty kill in hockey this season at 87.3%, and the Panthers will try to test it in this one. This game is a toss-up, but Boston is still heavily favored. The home team is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings. We’ll take the value with PANTHERS (+130).

Puck line/Against the spread

The Panthers were just 16-25 on the puck line at home this year. Only 3 games in the last 10 between these teams were decided by 1 goal, but you’ll have to pay -400 to have a goal of insurance with Boston. I’m also not a fan of paying -190 for a goal of insurance with the Panthers.

PASS.

Over/Under

Five of the last 6 meetings have gone Over 6. The Over is 10-1 in Boston’s last 11 road games and 4-1 in the last 5 overall. Expect a fiery game with a lot of goal horns.

Take the OVER 6 (-120).
