BetFTW March Madness Special: We got you boosted odds on every 9 seed

A 9 seed parlay with boosted odds? We’re in.

There might not be a more difficult game to bet on during the First Round of the NCAA Tournament that the No. 9 vs. No. 8 seed matchups in each region.

Usually you can toss out the seeding here since these teams could switch rankings and it wouldn’t make much of a difference. If your squad finds itself in this game, it’s because they’re good enough to make a run and have enough flaws to question their resume to begin with.

Here at BetFTW, we want to make betting on these four games a little easier—and a lot more enticing—so we called up our pals at Tipico Sportsbook to give us some better odds.

Presenting: BetFTW’s Dressed to the Nines Boost. You can now parlay all four No. 9 seeds to win their First Round matchup with odds boosted to +2000. A max bet of $20 would payout $420 total.

This year’s No. 8 vs. No. 9 matchups feature Boise St-Memphis, North Carolina-Marquette, Creighton-San Diego State and Seton Hall-TCU.

To collect on the boost, we need TCU, Creighton, Marquette and Memphis to win straight up. It’s certainly not impossible. No. 9 seeds have won 73 of 144 games since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985. More than half of those games were decided by fewer than 10 points.

These are true toss-ups with the lower-ranked team an underdog in name only. For that reason alone, we’re riding with the No. 9 seeds and grabbing these odds while we can.

BetFTW 101: Taking advantage of boosted odds

Boosted odds still carry plenty of risk, but the rewards are much greater than they would be otherwise.

Opening up your betting app or visiting a sportsbook to find boosted odds on big games can sometimes feel like a win before even placing a wager.

Boosted odds are limited time only offerings from oddsmakers that can turn a favorite into an underdog and an underdog into a lock. That doesn’t always mean they’re worth betting. Sportsbooks will boost odds to drive bettors to a specific matchup, but like any wager, there is no sure thing. Boosted odds can help bettors feel a bit more confident when putting money down. Sportsbooks like Tipico tend to do this fairly often with many services offering daily boosts. The key is to pick your spots carefully and not get overwhelmed by the potential payout.

A favorite on the field is still a favorite regardless of what the odds say and prop bets will always carry extra risk.

It’s best to use boosted odds when you’ve already found yourself leaning towards one side.

If you believe a high-powered Baltimore Ravens offense will score at least four touchdowns, then placing a wager on boosted odds that they’ll cover 3.5+ trips to the end zone seems like a fair play. But if you’re not confident in Lamar Jackson to begin with, taking the boost may not be for you.

Think of these promotions as a free scoop of ice cream on a sundae you were already planning to order and you can take advantage by adding more wagers to your bet slip and spreading out your units accordingly.

Just don’t forget about all the other offerings out there.
