UNC basketball to welcome five-star recruit for Live Action visit

The UNC basketball program will host five-star recruit Boogie Fland for an official visit at the end of September.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program will unofficially begin the 2022-23 season with the annual Live Action With Carolina Basketball event, formally known as Late Night at the end of September.

And when the Tar Heels do hit the court for the season tipoff for the event, they will do so in front of a very important recruiting target.

Five-star combo guard [autotag]Boogie Fland[/autotag] will be in attendance for the event, taking his official visit to UNC per Inside Carolina. The 2024 recruit is one of the top players in the class and has drawn significant interest from North Carolina in his recruitment recently.

Davis and Jeff Lebo were at Stepinac on Thursday for the coaches clinic and had the chance to watch Bland and his teammates. The Tar Heels offered the prized recruit back in August and have made him a priority moving forward in this class.

With just one commitment in the 2024 class, UNC is hoping to build a stellar class. In addition to Fland, 2023 recruit Zayden High will also be in attendance for the event as it will be a big recruiting opportunity for the program.

Hubert Davis and UNC visit five-star target

Hubert Davis was in New York to watch five-star recruiting target Boogie Fland on Thursday as the Tar Heels amp up the pursuit.

Hubert Davis and North Carolina have been on the recruiting trail with the live evaluation period ongoing here in September. The Tar Heels are keeping tabs with their top targets in the 2024 class and that includes five-star combo guard [autotag]Boogie Fland[/autotag].

The Tar Heels offered Fland this Summer and are serious players in his recruitment. After landing R.J. Davis a few years back, the Tar Heels are hoping to go back to that Archbishop Stepinac well again out of White Plains, New York. And Fland would be a huge get for the staff as part of the 2024 class that has one commitment so far.

On Thursday, Davis and the Tar Heels were in New York to watch the NY Coaches Clinic where Fland participated:

Per Jamie Shaw of On3, joining Davis at the event was Oregon’s Dana Altman, Villanova’s Kyle Neptune, UConn’s Danny Hurley and one of the assistants from Kansas.

Fland has a total of 20 offers in his recruitment and is ranked No. 12 overall in the 2024 class per the 247Sports rankings.

2024 five-star guard planning visit to UNC

One 2024 five-star point guard is planning to visit the UNC basketball program this fall.

The UNC basketball program is still trying to finalize the last few pieces to its 2023 class, but in the meantime, are starting to get extremely active in the class of 2024.

One 2024 prospect that holds an offer from the Tar Heels is five-star point guard [autotag]Boogie Fland[/autotag]. Fland is ranked as the No. 10 overall player in the class in the Rivals rankings. He is also the No. 2 overall point guard — one spot behind UNC target Elliot Cadeau.

While Fland is early in his recruitment, that Tar Heels are sticking out enough to receive a visit, he tells Rivals.

“I’m planning to visit North Carolina, Michigan and Virginia Tech.”

Fland holds offers from UNC, Auburn, UConn, Michigan, Kentucky, Kansas, Illinois, Maryland, UCLA, Villanova and more.

In June, Fland helped the US 17U basketball team win a gold medal during the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup.

Fland is from Archbishop Stepinac (NY) High School, the same high school that current guard RJ Davis is from. Cole Anthony also spent time in the New York area for high school before transferring to Oak Hill.

The Tar Heels officially offered the five-star guard on Tuesday, as he becomes the latest prospect to earn an offer from the program.

Fland is now up to 19 offers so far in his recruitment as things are heating up for the New York prospect. As UNC has shown interest in him recently, it took a bit for an offer. Now that he has one, the Tar Heels are hoping to put on the full-court press and eventually land him for the 2024 class.

The 6-foot-3, 165-pound recruit is ranked No.13 overall, the No. 2 point guard and No. 2 player in the state of New York per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

He’s the seventh player in the 2024 class to earn an offer from North Carolina and the second point guard.
