Bogdan Bogdanovic and Hawks coach Quin Snyder had an intense, heated interaction on the bench

The player and the coach insist that everything is all good now, though.

Even though the Atlanta Hawks won the game, it wasn’t smooth sailing for veteran Bogdan Bogdanovic and head coach Quin Snyder.

Late in the fourth, despite carrying a massive lead, the two individuals had an intense interaction while on the bench. There was a delay in the game after Bogdanovic spilled a water bottle, and then visibly frustrated, he approached his coach.

Clearly upset about something, Bogdanovic then got into the face of Snyder. He pointed to himself and was yelling about something before eventually, his teammates got involved and had to separate the two parties.

Atlanta ended up winning the game by a convincing margin, so the vibes were mostly good afterward.

Snyder was asked about the heated interaction and he said that everything was all good.

Here is what Snyder said during his press conference:

“Bogi was terrific. And he and I are in a great place. Better than good. Great. I love how he played as well. And he’s defending, which has been a point of pride for him.”

Bogdanovic also insisted that there were no problems between the two.

According to the Atlanta wing, it was “normal” and that the intensity just suggests that everyone cares about each other.

He added that while it was sad the moment got caught on the broadcast, it is better than both of them holding it in.

Even though the Miami Heat are in win-now mode, they always have players they develop from the bottom up. Nikola Jovic is the latest young player to go through their system. Now in his second season with the Miami Heat, he hopes to become the next Serbian to make a name for himself.

After a recent game against the Clippers, Jovic chatted briefly with HoopsHype to talk about his development, staying patient, the World Cup, and more.

Team Serbia roster: Meet the national team fighting for gold at the 2023 FIBA World Cup

Serbia made it to the 2023 FIBA World Cup Finals even without Nikola Jokic.

Canada was long considered one of the two favorites to win the 2023 FIBA World Cup, but they lost to Serbia in the semifinals.

After the upset victory over Canada on Friday in the Philippines, the Serbian national team will advance to the finals and will face Germany for a chance to win the gold medal in the competition.

Serbia is coached by Svetislav “Kari” PeÅ”ić, who has previously coached Barcelona as well as Bayern and Valencia in the Euroleague. He also possesses German citizenship and coached the German national team from 1987 until 1993 and then again in 2012.

His roster at the FIBA World Cup has three NBA players, which is one fewer than his German opponents (4) in the championship game.

Serbia is without key players who could represent the nation, including NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic. Others with NBA experience who are eligible to play for Serbia but not on the roster include Vasilije Micic, Milos Teodosic, Boban Marjanovic and Aleksej Pokusevski.

Despite that, however, Serbia currently has the best point differential among all teams in the tournament.

Here are the Serbian players representing their country in this competition.

Twitter reacts to Serbia beating Canada in World Cup semifinal: ‘Without Nikola Jokic’

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Serbia upsetting Canada to make the FIBA World Cup Final.

Bogdan Bogdanovic led Serbia to an upset 95-86 win over Canada in the semifinal of the FIBA World Cup.

Despite missing Nikola Jokic and Vasilije Micic, Serbia returned to the World Cup final after 2014.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Serbia’s success and Canada’s loss.

Serbia praises Borisa Simanić after emergency kidney removal at FIBA World Cup: ‘This is for him’

Borisa Simanić required two sudden surgeries after an injury during group play for Serbia.

During the upset victory over Lithuania in the knockout phase of the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Serbia played without big man Borisa Simanić.

Simanić, a 25-year-old power forward who last played for Basket Zaragoza in Spain, was injured during a game against South Sudan on Aug. 30. He was struck in the kidney and immediately felt the impact of the injury.

Here are more details about what we know so far (via USA TODAY):

“The injury occurred in a group stage match Wednesday, the federation said, during Serbia’s 115-83 victory over South Sudan. According to ESPN, the injury occurred when South Sudan’s Nuni Omot elbowed Simanić, who immediately fell to the court in pain.

Simanić underwent surgery overnight and he remained in the Makati Medical Center in Manila for observation. Simanić, however, faced complications resulting from the first surgery and the determination was made to have the second procedure to remove the entire kidney.”

That is an incredibly scary series of events for Simanić and the Serbian national team.

So that is why it was especially significant for Atlanta Hawks wing Bogdan Bogdanovic to begin his press conference after defeating Lithuania by giving a shoutout to (and update about) Simanić.

This is what Bogdanovic had to say about the Serbian big man:

“I want to start just to say something from this morning. Our teammate, who is still with us, Borisa Simanic, he gave us amazing energy. We were nervous yesterday. … And I see the message from Borisa in the morning after the meeting, a long meeting. He was: ‘Guy, I’m good. Don’t worry. Let’s win tonight.’ And for him just to think about us after everything that happened to him, he united us, I would say. That’s [an] amazing guy and this is for him as well.”

Those are strong words from Bogdanovic, who obviously had Simanić on his mind during the crucial victory over Lithuania that will send Serbia to play in the semifinals of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Lakers targeting several players ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline

After missing out on Kyrie Irving, the Lakers are doing their due diligence on a potential trade as the NBA’s deadline approaches.

Now that trading for Kyrie Irving is off the table after all these months, the Los Angeles Lakers can finally move forward with the monumental task of upgrading a somewhat talented but porous roster with less than 72 hours before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.

They badly need accurate 3-point shooting, and given their recent struggles on the defensive end, they could use some help in that department as well.

If they do make a deal, what type of deal will it be? Will they go for a true big man, a big wing, a small wing or a ball-handling guard?

The Los Angeles Times’ Dan Woike reported the team has several specific players it could be looking to acquire.

Via Los Angeles Times:

“Toronto guards Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr., Atlanta guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, Detroit forward Bojan Bogdanovic (who the Pistons repeatedly have said isnā€™t available unless theyā€™re blown away by an offer), Charlotte guard Terry Rozier and Utah guard Mike Conley all are viewed as possible trade targets depending on how the market shakes out between now and Thursday.”

None of these players would be ideal additions, although a few could significantly move the needle for L.A.

Both men named Bogdanovic would represent an upgrade in 3-point shooting, even if they wouldn’t add much of anything on the defensive end. Bojan Bogdanovic, in particular, would be a massive improvement in the outside shooting department while giving the team a legitimate third scoring option.

Rozier and VanVleet have been potent guards for the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors, respectively, but their shooting percentages are way down this season, which means they could actually hurt the Lakers in terms of 3-point accuracy.

Conley, who is 35 years of age, appears to be in decline, and his 3-point shooting accuracy has decreased this season.

Trent could be a very nice acquisition for the Lakers, however, as he has a reputation for being a legit 3-and-D player. At 6-foot-5 and 209 pounds, he can play the 3 at times, and he is shooting a respectable 37.3% from downtown on 7.1 attempts a game this year.

However, there are some other surprises on this list, so be sure to scroll down and check out the latest installment of our trade rumor rankings.

NBA Draft 2022: Why the Bucks forfeited their second-round pick due to tampering rules violation

The Bucks’ missteps during the 2020 NBA offseason are now being paid for.

The shortened 2020 NBA offseason was a weird one. It was quick and kind of rushed, but big for the Milwaukee Bucks. First, they locked Giannis Antetokounmpo on a huge contract extension. Then, they shipped Eric Bledsoe out of town for Jrue Holiday to form a Bucks Big 3.

As we know by now, that Holiday trade proved pivotal in the Bucks winning that season’s NBA championship. However, what’s forgotten about that offseason is the trade that didn’t happen ā€” the Bogdan Bogdanovic deal to Milwaukee.

The failed sign-and-trade between the Atlanta Hawks and Bucks was bad, but it was later learned that Milwaukee had violated the league’s tampering rules by being in contact with Bogdanovic before legally allowed. The penalty? Milwaukee was stripped of its 2022 second-round pick.

So, if you’re wondering why there are fewer than the usual 60 picks in Thursday’s NBA Draft, now you know why.

Norman Powell, Darius Garland and other NBA stars to bet on during Friday’s play-in games

A look at some player props ahead of Friday’s play-in games.

The NBA’s Play-In Tournament has a way of keeping viewers on the edge of their toes. We all were invested on Tuesday, whether it was Anthony Edwards bringing the Minnesota Timberwolves home down the stretch of Tuesday’s game against the LA Clippers, or Kyrie Irving’s perfect three quarters against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

But the stakes are higher now ā€” it’s literally “win or go home” for everyone on Friday night, and things are already getting interesting.

For Cleveland, how will Jarrett Allen look in his likely return from a broken finger? Will Bogdan Bogdanovic test out his sprained ankle for Atlanta? And which Clipper is going to fill in for the recently ruled out Paul George (health and safety protocols)?

Here’s what we can expect on Friday night:

Report: Atlanta Hawks ‘have interest’ in Boston’s Marcus Smart in trade built around Bogdan Bogdanovic

Can Atlanta put together a proposal the Celtics would agree to given how integral Smart has been to Boston’s resurgent play of late?

There appears to be a very healthy market for Boston Celtics veteran point guard Marcus Smart ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline set to arrive this Thursday, Feb. 10 at 3 pm ET with reporting from The Athletic’s Chris Kirchner suggesting that the Flower Mound native is a target of the Atlanta Hawks.

Previously connected via a leaked offer including Cam Reddish that did not materialize before Reddish was dealt to the New York Knicks last month, it seems the interest on Atlanta’s part has not died with their proposed trade. Noting that the Hawks “have interest” in Smart, Kirchner relates that he has “actually heard some chatter on a Smart-(Bogdan) Bogdanovic trade framework in the past few days.”

No further details on what might be in such an offer, but the Athletic analyst thinks it would be more than the top-18 protected 2022 Charlotte Hornets first-rounder possessed by Atlanta proposed by a reader in a fictitious trade offer.

It might be prudent to keep an eye on this rumor, but we believe it would require a substantial return for the Celtics to give up on the former No. 6 pick given how much of Boston’s recent success can be attributed to his play.
