How did Knight and Michael Jordan get along? Jeff Turner: Pretty well. Michael was Michael. His intensity certainly matched Coach Knight’s. I don’t remember Coach Knight getting on Michael as much. With the rest of us he didn’t spare anything. I don’t think anybody was immune from him getting on us or singling us out. I’m sure Michael would say Coach Knight got on him a little bit as well. But it really brought us all together because I think that’s part of what Coach Knight did. He was “The General,” right? He united his troops by treating us equally. He didn’t spare anyone. There was no favoritism or anything like that. If we needed to be screamed at, or whatever you want to call it, he didn’t pull any punches. So I think you’re kind of brought together in that sense. That was his style.

Curry took his adoration a step further when he told Hamilton he was not only up for an interview, but wanted to get more involved. That’s how basketball’s greatest jump shooter became an executive producer. Both players are interviewed in the film, along with a lineup of basketball legends — from Dirk Nowitzki to Bob Knight, Nancy Lieberman and Clark Kellogg. Bob Knight is back at Indiana.
Indiana coach Bob Knight made his return to Indiana’s Assembly Hall on Saturday for the school’s ceremony honoring the 1979-90 team he coached, his first appearance in the building since he was fired by the University in 2000.
Knight got a big ovation from the audience, hugs from his former players and “Bobby” chants coming down from the stands. It was an absolutely incredible moment.

Knight was booted away from Indiana for good reason in 2000 when he was fired for putting his hands on a student. The university was right to do that.
Still, Knight meant a lot to a lot of people at Indiana. It’s great to see them taking a few minutes to honor him in this way after so long. What a gesture.
