REPORT: Bishop Thomas no longer with CU Buffs football program

Defensive lineman Bishop Thomas has reportedly been dismissed from Colorado’s program

Bishop Thomas’ short-lived Colorado football career appears to be over.

On Friday, Adam Munsterteiger of BuffStampede reported that Thomas, a defensive lineman, hasn’t worked out with the team since the spring semester began and is “not expected to compete with the Buffaloes in 2024.” Munsterteiger cited Chico Cleveland of the Bigg Dogg Chico Show as his source.

While Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has yet to speak on the matter, Josh Tolle of BuffsBeat reported on Friday that Thomas has been dismissed from the program.

Thomas, who transferred from Florida State to CU last May, was suspended from the program for a portion of the 2023 season due to violating team rules.

In his lone season with the Buffs, the 6-foot-2, 305-pound lineman appeared in nine games and played in 117 defensive snaps. He also made a memorable appearance at fullback during Colorado’s season opener at TCU.

Thomas is a former three-star prospect from Orlando, Florida.

Colorado adds to its defensive line with Florida State transfer Bishop Thomas

Bishop Thomas, one of the top DLs from the class of 2022, announced his commitment to Colorado after leaving Florida State

Another day, another couple of transfer additions.

Soon after Southern Utah transfer safety Rodrick Ward pledged to Colorado, former Florida State defensive lineman Bishop Thomas joined him on Sunday morning, announcing his commitment to the Buffs via Instagram.

The former three-star recruit becomes the sixth transfer DL, not including edge rushers, to come to Colorado after six left the program this offseason.

Thomas played a reserve role for Florida State in his 2022 freshman season, appearing in two games with one tackle. He was a highly sought recruit in his class, however, choosing the Seminoles over several other Power Five schools, including Texas, Penn State and Tennessee.

It may take some time for Thomas to cement himself with the Buffs, but the 6-foot-2, 305-pound lineman will be a name to watch over the next few years.
