No. 12 Tennessee tips off its 2024-25 season against Gardner-Webb on Nov. 4.

Tipoff between the Vols and Bulldogs is slated for 7 p.m. EST at Food City Center.

Tennessee won the 2023-24 SEC regular-season championship and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for a second time in school history.

During the preseason, Vols Wire will profile players on the 2024-25 men’s basketball roster. This installment will feature Bishop Boswell.

Boswell, an incoming freshman guard for the Vols, comes to Knoxville after a stellar high school career at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He earned All-State honors three times from HighSchoolOT.com. As a freshman, Boswell was a first-team selection. He received second-team designation as a junior and third-team honors as a sophomore.

Boswell was a universal four-star recruit and a top eight prospect from North Carolina.

2024 four-star guard Bishop Boswell committed to Tennessee on Thursday.

He committed to the Vols over Georgia, Missouri, Wake Forest and Xavier. Tennessee offered a scholarship to the 2024 prospect on July 12.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Boswell is from Myers Park High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Boswell is the Vols’ first commitment in the 2024 recruiting class.

Rick Barnes is entering his ninth season as the Vols’ head coach. Tennessee announced on Sept. 19 an extension of Barnes’ contract through the 2027-28 season.

“We are thrilled to be able to extend Rick and continue to build on the tremendous men’s basketball program he has developed here on Rocky Top,” Tennessee Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Danny White said. “He has infused a fantastic culture within our team and our players have represented Tennessee in a first-class manner both on the court and in the classroom.

“Our fans have responded to help create an electric atmosphere on gamedays and I can’t wait to watch the Vols continue our quest for more championships under Rick’s leadership.”
