Birmingham Stallions at Arlington Renegades odds, picks and predictions

Beat the sportsbook: Analyzing Saturday’s Birmingham Stallions at Arlington Renegades odds, with expert UFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The UFL opens the season Saturday with the champions of the 2 leagues that merged to form it. The Birmingham Stallions, who are coming off back-to-back USFL championships, are on the road facing the Arlington Renegades, who won the XFL championship last year. Kickoff from Choctaw Stadium is at 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Stallions vs. Renegades odds and make our expert football picks and predictions.

The Stallions went 21-3 in 2 seasons and postseasons. They have a new QB in Matt Corrall, who spent 2 seasons in the NFL. They also added WR Amari Rodgers, who spent 3 seasons in the NFL as a return specialist for the Green Bay Packers.

The Renegades went 4-6 in the regular season but got hot in the playoffs and won the championship. They added former NFL 1st-round pick DE Vic Beasley to their defense. He last played in the NFL in 2020 but played well last season for the Vegas Vipers in the XFL.

Stallions at Renegades picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 20, Renegades 16

Moneyline

With the inaugural game in a new league with teams from 2 previous leagues, this is a tough one to pick.

However, you have to like Birmingham (-200), as they dominated the USFL 2 consecutive seasons with 2 different starting quarterbacks, especially going against a team that had a losing record before the postseason.

As the Stallions have been so good for so long, I won’t open the season picking an outright underdog to beat them, but -200 odds aren’t any good to wager.

PASS.

Against the spread

Thus far, there are no good trends to go by.

However, if you look at Birmingham’s 2023, of their 10 total wins between the regular season and postseason, 9 were by at least 4 points.

With little else to go by in a new league, I’m leaning on the favorite.

BET STALLIONS -3.5 (-110).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

Birmingham’s season opener last season finished with 37 points, and the championship had 40 points. They only had 3 total games not reach at least 42 total points.

Arlington scored more than 18 points only twice in the regular season last year in the XFL but scored 26 and 35 in the semifinals and championship games.

In a new league with no preseason, expect things to start slowly.

BET UNDER 41.5 (-110).

USFL Championship: Pittsburgh Maulers vs. Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Pittsburgh Maulers vs. Birmingham Stallions odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Pittsburgh Maulers (5-6) meet the Birmingham Stallions (9-2) Saturday in the USFL Championship at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (NBC). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Maulers vs. Stallions odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Maulers snuck into the playoffs with a berth in the final week. Pittsburgh made the most of the opportunity, posting a 31-27 overtime win over the Michigan Panthers at this very same venue last Saturday. The 31 points tied a season best.

Pittsburgh’s offense has come alive at the best time, as it is averaging 28.5 points per game (PPG) in the last 2 outings. The Maulers are also on a season-best 3-game win streak, and 4-game cover streak.

Birmingham posted a 47-22 blitzkrieg against the New Orleans Breakers last weekend at Protective Stadium at home. The 47-point total marked a season high, beating the 42 points B-Ham dropped on the Memphis Showboats in Week 2.

The Stallions have won 6 in a row, while going 5-1 against the spread (ATS) during the span. The Over has cashed in each of the last 4 games, too, with Birmingham going for 24 or more points in 6 straight outings, and 20 or more points in all 11 games to date.

Birmingham topped Pittsburgh 24-20 in Week 4 in Canton, as QB Alex McGough struggled that day. The USFL MVP completed 17-of-29 passes for just 157 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT, while running for a team-high 48 yards and a score.

Maulers vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 25, Maulers 19

Moneyline

Birmingham (-350) will cost you 3 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s just too expensive, especially in a championship game. While Pittsburgh (+260) doesn’t have a great record overall, the Maulers have a sturdy defense, and it gave McGough fits in the regular-season matchup back in May.

AVOID.

Against the spread

PITTSBURGH +7.5 (-110) is a solid play, as the defense of the Maulers will keep them in the game. The D picked McGough off twice in the Week 4 matchup, and Pittsburgh’s No. 1 ranked defense gave Birmingham’s No. 1 ranked offense all it could handle. As long as this remains above 7, it is super attractive, while less so if it slips to +6.5.

Birmingham does enter on a 5-1 ATS run, but it failed to cover on this very same field in the first matchup in Week 4, as Pittsburgh covered an 8.5-point number. The Maulers, arguably, are much better on offense than they were in that early-season battle.

Over/Under

UNDER 45.5 (-110) is always a risky proposition when the Stallions are involved, but it has generally been the rule when the Maulers play.

On a total of 43.5 in the Week 4 matchup, we saw 44 combined points, with some bettors cashing the Under depending on when they got their bets in during the week. We should see another lower-scoring game, as the Maulers defense is air-tight. The Stallions have allowed an average of just 19.0 PPG in the past 6 outings, so Birmingham knows how to play a little D, too.

New Orleans Breakers at Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Orleans Breakers at Birmingham Stallions USFL playoff odds and lines, with expert USFL picks and predictions.

The USFL South Division championship is Sunday with the New Orleans Breakers (7-3) at  the Birmingham Stallions (8-2). Kickoff is 7 p.m. ET at Protective Stadium in Birmingham (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Breakers vs. Stallions odds, and make our expert USFL picks and predictions.

The Breakers made the playoffs winning the final 3 games of the regular season after 3 consecutive losses. They closed the regular season with a 17-10 win over the Houston Gamblers as 4-point favorites while the Under (44.5) cashed.

The Stallions enter the postseason riding a 5-game winning streak. They wrapped up the regular season with a 27-20 road win over the Memphis Showboats as 4.5-point favorites while the Over (44) hit.

The teams split their 2 regular-season matchups. The Breakers won in Birmingham 45-31 in Week 3 while the Stallions bounced back with a 24-20 win in Week 7.

Breakers at Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 24, Breakers 20

Moneyline

The Stallions come in riding a 5-game winning streak and have not scored fewer than 24 points in the streak. They have scored at least 20 points every game, finishing the year 1st in yards (332.6 YPG) and points (28.7 PG), 2nd in passing (217.1 YPG) and 3rd in rushing (115.5 YPG).

The Breakers finished 2nd in scoring (23.7 PPG), but scored more than 24 only once in their final 7 games. They were No. 1 in total defense (272.0 YPG) and scoring defense (18.4 PPG), but allowed Birmingham to score 24-plus points in both regular-season matchups.

I like the Stallions to win and the moneyline isn’t a bad bet but the spread is a better value.

PASS.

Against the spread

All 8 of the Stallions’ wins were by at least 3 points while all 3 of the Breakers’ losses were by at least 4 points.

The Stallions have not scored fewer than 24 points over the last 5 weeks and scored at least 27 in 4 of them. The Breakers reached 24 points once over the final 7 weeks.

BET STALLIONS -3 (-110).

Over/Under

The 1st matchup between them in Week 3 had 76 points, but the Week 7 had only 44 total points.

The last 3 games for Birmingham and 4 of the last 6 have had totals of more than 45 points. The Breakers have not had a game reach 45 total points since Week 3 against the Stallions.

BET UNDER 45 (-110).

Birmingham Stallions at Memphis Showboats odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Birmingham Stallions at Memphis Showboats odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Birmingham Stallions (7-2) meet the Memphis Showboats (5-4) Saturday in a key Week 10 USFL South Division game at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stallions vs. Showboats odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stallions were the first USFL team to clinch a playoff spot last weekend, but Birmingham is still playing to secure the South Division title. It can do so with a victory, or a loss and a setback by the New Orleans Breakers against the Houston Gamblers Sunday, also in Memphis.

Birmingham has rattled off 4 consecutive victories, while going 3-1 against the spread (ATS) during the span. During the win streak, the Stallions have scored 24 or more points, averaging 29.0 PPG. On the flip side, B-Ham has allowed just 18.0 PPG during the stretch.

The Showboats had won 5 in a row, while covering 6 straight outings before Week 9. However, the Boats were humbled 31-3 by the aforementioned Breakers, taking the possibility of a division title off the table. However, Memphis is still alive for a postseason spot, albeit now a very, very unlikely situation due to tiebreakers, point differential, etc.

These teams met back in Week 2, and the Stallions roughed up the Showboats 42-2 in the most lopsided game of the season at Protective Stadium in Alabama.

Stallions at Showboats picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 29, Showboats 18

Moneyline

Birmingham (-190) is a little too expensive at this price, costing you 2 times your potential return. My personal limit for a singular moneyline wager is -180.

It’s probably a good bet, as the Stallions will saddle up and give it their all with a division title on the line. But the Boats are also desperate to keep their faint playoff hopes alive, and it’s a certainty they’ll have a better showing than Week 2.

PASS.

Against the spread

BIRMINGHAM -4.5 (-110) has the best record in the USFL, and with 260 points this is easily the best scoring offense, with the Breakers a distant 2nd with 220.

Memphis +4.5 (-110) is trying to keep its flickering postseason hopes alive, but after a 28-point beatdown at the hands of the Breakers, it was also desperate in a key South Division game last week and Memphis failed to show up.

Look for the Stallions to roll to a victory, even playing on the road on the banks of the Mississippi River in Memphis.

Over/Under

OVER 44 (-110) looks like a good bet based upon Birmingham’s high-octane offense. The Over is 5-2 in the past 7 games for the Stallions, too, and B-Ham has posted 20 or points in all 9 outings, with 27 or more points in 6 of the contests.

However, the Under cashed in the Week 2 meeting, and the Under has been the rule for the Showboats. The Under has cashed in 6 straight games for Memphis, which is the longest Under run of the entire season, too.

Still, I think Birmingham has tremendous offense, and it dropped 42 on Memphis earlier in the season. While the Boats defense is much better than that first showing, the offense will also do a lot more than Week 2. Memphis has scored 22 or more points in 6 of 9 games this season. A total in the high 40’s or 50’s is expected.

Birmingham Stallions vs. Houston Gamblers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Birmingham Stallions vs. Houston Gamblers Week 9 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

Sunday’s USFL schedule for Week 9 begins with the Birmingham Stallions (6-2) taking on the Houston Gamblers (5-3). Kickoff is 1 p.m. ET at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tenn. (NBC). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stallions vs. Gamblers odds, and make our expert USFL picks and predictions.

The Stallions have won 3 straight games, including a 27-24 win over the Philadephia Stars last week, although they failed to cover the 6-point spread.

The Gamblers have won 5 of their last 6 games, but nearly lost last week. They beat the Maulers 20-19 as Pittsburgh missed a 41-yard potential game-winning FG with under 2 minutes remaining in the game. The Gamblers failed to cover the 3-point spread as favorites.

Houston beat Birmingham 27-20 in Week 5 covering as a 4.5-point favorite as the Over 46.5 hit.

Stallions vs. Gamblers picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 27, Gamblers 23

Moneyline

The Stallions have won 3 straight games. They have scored at least 24 points in all but 1 game this season and at least 27 in all but 2. Their season-low was 20 points in their loss to the Gamblers in Week 5.

The Gamblers have won 5 of their last 6 games, but have not scored more than 20 points in the last 3 weeks.

After averaging 28.4 points per game in their 1st 5 games, they have scored only 18.7 per game over their last 3.

Expect the Stallions to avenge their earlier loss to the Gamblers, but the spread gives you a better value.

PASS.

Against the spread

Five of the Stallions’ 6 wins have been by at least 4 points. They are 4-4 ATS this season while the Gamblers are 3-5 ATS overall. Houston is 3-1 straight up and ATS as underdogs this season. But their recent reduced offensive production suggests they will not be able to keep up with Birmingham.

BET STALLIONS -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under

After the Over was 5-0 in the Gamblers’ first 5 games, the Under has hit in each of the last 3. Three of the Stallions’ games this season have had at least 46 points. The Gamblers have not had a game reach 46 points since their Week 5 meeting with the Stallions.

BET OVER 45.5 (-110).

Philadelphia Stars at Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Philadelphia Stars at Birmingham Stallions odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Stars (4-3) face the Birmingham Stallions (5-2) Saturday in a Week 8 USFL game at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET (NBC/Peacock). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Stallions odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

It has been a roller coaster ride for the Stars this season, winning an impressive opening game on the road in Memphis, then losing and failing to cover the next 3 outings. However, Philly has righted the ship and has picked up 3 straight wins, including a 37-31 victory in Canton against the Pittsburgh Maulers last weekend.

The Over has cashed in 3 of the past 4 outings for Philadelphia, and its defense has been a reason the team is barely over .500. The Stars have allowed 21 or more points in 6 of the past 7 contests.

The Stallions picked up a 24-20 win against the New Orleans Breakers last weekend in Birmingham and have won and covered the past 2 games since a 27-20 home setback against the Houston Gamblers in Week 5.

The defense has been fantastic for Birmingham lately, allowing just 16.5 points per game (PPG) across the past 2 weeks, and it has helped the Under cash in back-to-back games after 3 consecutive Over outings.

Stars at Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 27, Stars 23

Moneyline

Birmingham (-225) will cost you over 2 times your potential return, and that’s risky, even at home. The Stallions have won the past 2 outings while scoring 24 or more points in 6 of 7 games overall.

Philadelphia (+180) has been playing well lately, winning and covering in 3 straight neutral-site games. However, playing at Protective Stadium will be too much and will tip the scales in favor of the home side.

PASS.

Against the spread

PHILADELPHIA +6 (-110) is worth a look, as the Stars have the offense to hang with Birmingham. We saw that evidenced by last weekend’s season-high 37 points against Pittsburgh.

The Stallions’ offense has been consistent, going for 24 or more points in 6 of 7 games overall, and there is very little chance Birmingham isn’t able to get it done against a very giving Philly defense. Still, the Stars can keep it within 6.

Over/Under

The OVER 45.5 (-110) is a good play here as both of these defenses have had issues.

The Under has cashed in 2 straight for Birmingham but the Stallions have scored 20 or more points in all 7 games, including 28.8 PPG in 5 outings at Protective Stadium.

The Over has cashed in 3 of the past 4 outings for the Stars, as Philly has scored 23.3 and allowed 25.8 PPG in over that span. Look for a high-scoring affair in Week 8.

Birmingham Stallions vs. New Orleans Breakers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Birmingham Stallions vs. New Orleans Breakers odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Birmingham Stallions (4-2) face the New Orleans Breakers (4-2) Saturday for a Week 7 USFL game at Protective Field in Birmingham. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stallions vs. Breakers odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

Technically, this is considered a road game for the Stallions, despite the fact they’re playing this game in Birmingham.

At Protective Stadium this season, the Stallions have posted a 2-2 straight-up (SU) record, while also going 2-2 against the spread (ATS). That includes a 45-31 setback in Week 3 as 6-point favorites against the Breakers, when the Stallions were a true home team. The Over (48.5) easily connected in that game.

In that Week 3 matchup, New Orleans had 483 total yards, to just 253 for Birmingham. It started well for the Stallions, as WR/KR Deon Cain took the opening kickoff 82 yards for a score. Breakers QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson was too much for the Stallions, though, completing 20 of 28 passes for 283 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. RB Wes Hills also gouged the Stallions for 191 rushing yards and 3 TDs.

Birmingham QB Alex McGough tossed a pair of TDs, but RB CJ Marable was bottled up for just 24 rushing yards, although he did score once. WR Davion Davis shined with 5 grabs for 123 yards and a score.

Birmingham snapped an 0-3 ATS skid last weekend with a 27-13 victory in Michigan as 5.5-point favorites, while cashing the Under (44.5). The defense had allowed 30.7 points per game (PPG) in the previous 3 contests before the 13 points allowed in the win.

The Breakers opened the season 4-0 SU/ATS, but the offense has gone silent the past 2 weekends. New Orleans lost 17-10 to Memphis in Birmingham in Week 5, and lost 16-10 last weekend in Week 6 to Philadelphia in Detroit. The Breakers were favorites in both games — 7 points vs. Memphis and 7.5 points vs. Philly.

The Under is on a 3-0 run for the Breakers, as the defense has yielded just 16.7 PPG across the previous 3 contests.

Stallions vs. Breakers picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 24, Breakers 17

Moneyline

BIRMINGHAM (-125) is worth playing in this neutral-site game, especially if you believe it’s going to be a super close game and you don’t want to worry about the points.

The Stallions have posted 20 or more points in all 6 of their games this season, and the defense looked good last week against the Panthers, reverting back to its form from the first 2 weekends when Birmingham was 2-0 SU/ATS, allowing just 12 total points.

New Orleans (+105) has struggled offensively in the past 2 outings, and facing a confident Stallions team in Birmingham, even if this is technically a “home” game, won’t serve the Breakers well.

Against the spread

BIRMINGHAM -1.5 (-110) is a little cheaper laying the really small amount of points.

Unless you’re hellbent on the Stallions winning this game by just a single point, or obviously if you like New Orleans +1.5 (-110), back Birmingham to win by 2 or more points.

Over/Under

UNDER 45.5 (-110) is a play in this key Week 7 South Division battle.

The Breakers have allowed 17 or fewer points in each of the previous 3 outings, cashing the Under in all of those games. The Stallions cashed the Under last weekend, yielding just 13 points to the Panthers. We won’t get a shootout between these teams like we saw back in Week 3.

Stallions vs. Panthers picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 27, Panthers 13

Moneyline

The Panthers have lost 3 straight games while scoring a combined 30 points. Michigan has failed to score more than 13 points in a game since Week 2.

The Stallions (-225) lead the USFL in scoring at 28.8 points per game and have the largest point differential at +40, but there is no money to be made on the moneyline at such a steep price.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Stallions are +40 in point differential on the season and 2 of their 3 wins were by at least 17 points.

The Panthers have lost each of their last 3 games by at least 15 points.

BET STALLIONS -5.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Panthers have not had a game with a total higher than 42 this season.

Only 2 of the Stallions’ 5 games have had more than 44 points this season.

The Panthers have not scored more than 13 in their last 3 games.

BET UNDER 44.5 (-110).

Houston Gamblers at Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Houston Gamblers at Birmingham Stallions odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Houston Gamblers (2-2) and Birmingham Stallions (3-1) meet Saturday for a Week 5 USFL game at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Gamblers vs. Stallions odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Gamblers routed the Philadelphia Stars 41-16 last weekend in Detroit. Houston’s offense managed just 13 points in a Week 1 loss against Michigan, but the Gamblers have rolled up 30 or more points in their last 3 outings and the Over has cashed in all 4 of their games to date.

The Stallions were on the winning side of a 24-20 score against the Pittsburgh Maulers in Canton, Ohio, in Week 4 but they failed to cover for the 2nd straight outing after going 2-0 straight-up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in the first 2 outings. The Under also cashed in the first 2 games but Birmingham has hit the Over in its last 2 contests.

Gamblers at Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 34, Gamblers 30

Moneyline

The Stallions (-200) will cost you 2 times your potential return, and that’s just too much risk for not enough reward.

Birmingham’s defense has struggled in the past 2 weekends, allowing 65 total points. It is problematic that Smith and Wright are on the injury report as injured linebackers could open up plenty of open spaces for the Gamblers to operate.

PASS.

Against the spread

The GAMBLERS +4.5 (-110) are worth a look, although circle back around and make sure Bahar is active and ready to play before committing. If he sits, QB Terry Wilson would get the starting nod. He was serviceable last week after Bahar exited with an ankle.

The Stallions have the offense to make plenty of noise, but the defense has struggled lately.

Over/Under

OVER 46.5 (-110) is worth playing Saturday.

The Over has cashed in each of the past 2 games for Birmingham, with the Stallions allowing 65 points during the span. The Stallions have scored 24 or more points in all 4 games, too.

The Gamblers have scored 30 or more points in 3 games in a row and have allowed 26 or more points in 3 of their 4 outings. It could be quite a shootout in Birmingham.

Stallions vs. Maulers picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 31, Maulers 17

Moneyline

The Stallions have scored no fewer than 27 points in a game this season and average 33.3 points per game. The Maulers scored a season-high 21 in their win last week, but had only 18 combined points the previous 2 weeks.

But the Stallions are so heavily favored that it doesn’t make sense to bet the moneyline.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Stallions lost last week, but won their previous two games by 17 and 40 points. The Maulers failed to cover the spread in either of their losses and will struggle to keep up with the Birmingham offense.

BET STALLIONS -8.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Maulers have not had a game reached 40 total points yet this season while twice the Stallions have had totals of 44 or more.

If the Stallions reach the 30-point mark, it will be tough to avoid the Over.

BET OVER 43.5 (-110).
