Rutgers football lands in the top five for elite New Jersey playmaker Cameron Miller

Cameron Miller has a top five that includes Rutgers football.

Cameron Miller has Rutgers football making his latest cutdown. Friday’s top five from Miller is good news for the Scarlet Knights as they pursue one of New Jersey’s top recruits.

Miller, a defensive back from Winslow Township (Atco, New Jersey), is a four-star recruit according to On3. He is a consensus top-10 player in New Jersey.

The cutdown to five schools sees Rutgers in the mix along with Kentucky, Michigan, Syracuse and Wisconsin.

He recently spoke to RutgersWire about his recruitment, including his thoughts on the Scarlet Knights.

Some significant programs such as Georgia, Miami, Oregon and Penn State did not make Miller’s cut down.

He posted his decision on social media on Friday afternoon, saying that these are the programs that he will be focused on in his recruitment moving forward.

At Winslow, Miller is coached by [autotag]Bill Belton[/autotag], a former standout running back at Penn State. Belton is a young, rising mover in the New Jersey high school coaching ranks.

Myles Nash, a former Rutgers defensive lineman, is Winslow’s defensive line coach. Winslow’s linebackers coach is Quanzell Lambert, a former Rutgers defensive lineman who was a multi-year All-Academic Big Ten selection.

Bill Belton on adding two former Rutgers football players to his staff: ‘These are guys that our kids can look up to’

Bill Belton sees his new coaching staff additions as being key for the program.

One of New Jersey’s top high school programs added some Rutgers football experience this week. Former Scarlet Knights’ Quanzell Lambert and Myles Nash have joined the coaching staff of Winslow Township High School (Atco, N.J.).

They bring considerable experience to a staff and a head coach in Bill Belton who already has quite the resume.

Considered one of the top rising coaches in the region, Belton is a former four-star recruit and running back at Penn State. In Lambert and Nash, he is adding more Big Ten experience to his staff.

Nash, who played defensive end and tight end at Rutgers, joins to become the program’s defensive coordinator. As for Lambert, a former four-star recruit, he will be Winslow’s new linebackers coach.

“Quanzell and Myles are two people that I have a lot of respect for,” Belton told Rutgers Wire this week.

“They will be great coaches for this program, they’ve accomplished a lot on the field. Ultimately, these are guys that our kids can look up to and want to be like. I’m extremely excited to begin working with these two.”

Nash comes to Winslow having spent the previous couple of seasons as a defensive line assistant at Rutgers. Nash is an enthusiastic and energetic coach with some significant upside and potential.

“Just being able to get our guys prepared for anything. He can draw from so many experiences,” Belton said.

“(There’s) nothing he hasn’t seen at that level. This will be the first time our guys on the defensive line will have someone that can teach the details that will improve their overall game.”

Last season, Winslow finished the season 6-4. This week, they added Jaylan Hornsby, a transfer from Camden High School (Camden, N.J.).

Hornsby is a four-star wide receiver and one of the top players in New Jersey’s 2024 class. He will be taking an official visit in June to Rutgers.

Two former Rutgers football players join Bill Belton’s staff at Winslow Township

Winslow Township has added two assistant coaches with significant experience at Rutgers football.

Former Rutgers football players Quanzell Lambert and Myles Nash will be joining head coach Bill Belton’s staff at Winslow Township High School (Atco, N.J.). It makes for a staff with deep ties to the Big Ten.

Belton is a former running back at Penn State who has steadily risen up the coaching ranks in recent years. His new additions certainly strengthen his program, providing some high-level experience.

Last season, Winslow finished the season 6-4.

Lambert, who played his high school football at Cedar Creek (Sicklerville, N.J), was a former four-star recruit who became a multi-year starter at Rutgers as a defensive end. He was a part of the 2014 Scarlet Knights team that went 8-5 in their first season in the Big Ten and won the Quick Lanes Bowl under then-head coach Kyle Flood.

He will serve as Winslow’s linebackers coach.

As for Nash, he joins Belton’s staff as a defensive coordinator, having previously served as a defensive line assistant under head coach Greg Schiano at Rutgers. Also from Cedar Creek, Nash played as a defensive end and a tight end for the aforementioned Flood as well as Chris Ash. ESPN.com ranked Nash as a four-star recruit in high school

It was a big Thursday already for Belton’s team. Earlier in the day, prior to the announcement of his staff additions, a report surfaced that Jaylan Hornsby was going to transfer to the program.

Originally at Camden High School (Camden, N.J.), Hornsby is a four-star recruit and one of the top players in New Jersey in the class of 2024.

Belton has deep ties to Winslow, where he was a standout athlete and a former four-star recruit as part of the 2011 recruiting class. Rivals ranked him as the seventh-best player in New Jersey that year.

A photographic look back at the 2012 meeting between Penn State and Ohio, Bill O’Brien’s head coaching debut

Penn State will host Ohio in Beaver Stadium for a Week 2 contest. The game will be the first played between the two programs since the 2012 season opener, which was an emotional one for the Penn State community and a tough start to the brief [autotag]Bill O’Brien[/autotag] era of Penn State football.

Penn State led the defending MAC East Division champions 14-3 at halftime but squandered the lead in the second half. Ohio quarterback Tyler Tettleton led the Bobcats to a 21-0 second half to leave Penn State feeling numb on the first day of the season. It was a tough way for the season to start in Happy Valley after everything that went down from the end of the 2011 season and over the summer with the NCAA hammering the program with unprecedented sanctions.

Other than that, it was a great day for football! Here’s a look back at the last meeting between these two programs.
