Ryan Fitzpatrick ruthlessly called out the age gap in Bill Belichick’s relationship on Twitter

Ryan Fitzpatrick said what everyone’s been thinking about Bill Belichick’s relationship.

Bill Belichick might be the greatest football coach of all time.

However, none of his professional accomplishments should make us gloss over his relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson. That’s right, folks. In case you were unaware, Belichick, who is more than old enough to be collecting social security at the age of 72, has been dating the 24-year-old woman. As in, someone still old enough to be on their parents’ insurance plan.

For you math majors at home, that is a 48-year age gap.

This led longtime NFL quarterback and current Thursday Night Football analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick to say what many, many people have been thinking on Twitter when he saw Hudson’s Belichick costume for Halloween:

Oh … my goodness. Good for someone as well-known in NFL circles as Fitzpatrick to call Belichick out for the age gap here. Maybe we’ll see even more now that the floodgates are open.

3 Saints special teams aces recognized by Bill Belichick

New Orleans Saints players J.T. Gray, Anfernee Orji and Rashid Shaheed all made Bill Belichick’s first midseason team as standouts on special teams:

Former New England Patriots coach and eight-time Super Bowl champ Bill Belichick has quickly transitioned into the media landscape, with plenty of outlets competing for some of his time. His latest project is developing essentially an All-Pro Team halfway through the season called the All-Belichick Midseason Team.

The New Orleans Saints are represented three times on that list, all of whom play on special teams. J.T. Gray, Anfernee Orji and Rashid Shaheed all made the cut.

This is a major look for Orji. The young linebacker is looking to make a name in this league, and appearing on an All-NFL team created by the greatest coach of all time is certainly one way to do it. Belichick specifically highlighted Orji’s kickoff return coverage, even though Orji made it on the punt team. His 5 special teams tackles are among the most in the NFL.

Gray is a former All-Pro player on special teams. Coach called Gray, “a productive player ever since he’s came in the league.” He’s tied for the league lead with 7 special teams tackles, plus a blocked punt.

There were two kick returners on the team, and Shaheed was paired on this list with Cowboys’ returner KaVontae Turpin. Unfortunately, Shaheed’s injury will keep him from making the All-Pro team at the end of the season. His inclusion on this list shows you his trajectory, returning one punt for a touchdown in his six games this year.

Bill Belichick, Pat McAfee chime in on Bo Nix and Broncos’ stingy defense

“This is a good, solid defense,” Bill Belichick said of the Broncos’ squad.

The sports world was set buzzing following the Denver Broncos‘ 28-14 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 8, including former NFL punter Pat McAfee and ex-coach Bill Belichick.

“Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos seemingly got it going. Do you believe in Sean Payton and what he’s got going in Denver?” McAfee asked Belichick on Monday’s edition of the Pat McAfee Show.

“Well yeah,” said the usually muted Belichick. “One of the best things they’re doing in Denver is their defense. They’re really good on defense and I think that (defensive coordinator Vance) Joseph has done a great job there. They have a nice pressure scheme, their front’s playing very well, they got Surtain back, and if they don’t turn the ball over, they’re going to be in every game.”

The Broncos limited the Panthers to 284 yards of total offense, which was as many yards as Denver rookie quarterback Bo Nix had passing alone. The Broncos’ stingy defense also hasn’t allowed more than 25 points since the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

“This is a good, solid defense; they play pretty well they communicate well and they don’t give up a lot of points,” said Belichick.

Belichick also gave love to the Broncos’ rookie signal caller. “As (Bo) Nix is getting a little bit more confident and a little more consistency and familiarity with Coach Payton’s system, they’re doing a good job,” said Belichick. “As I said at the beginning of the year, they won’t be enough to catch the (Kansas City) Chiefs this year, but it certainly looks like they’re gaining in the division.”

You can watch their breakdown of the game below — the Broncos’ segment begins at 1:47:40.

The Broncos look to build on their 5-3 record with a big game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Bill Belichick explains why Chiefs won Joshua Uche trade over Patriots

Bill Belichick thinks the Chiefs won the Joshua Uche trade

Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick took a subtle jab at the organization for trading away Joshua Uche. The veteran linebacker was sent to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2026 sixth-round draft pick on Monday.

Belichick drafted Uche in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. Uche appeared in 58 games total and recorded 76 combined tackles and 20.5 sacks in his time with the Patriots. He has 13 total tackles and two sacks so far this season.

“They (Chiefs) didn’t give up anything in my mind,” Belichick said on “The Pat McAfee Show,” as transcribed by NESN.com’s Sean T. McGuire. “Look, Josh Uche’s a really good rusher. He hasn’t had a chance to rush much this year for the Patriots because they’ve been behind a lot. The situation hasn’t been good.”

It is evident that the Patriots are going in a different direction in terms of personnel moves than they would have under Belichick. It also seems like the legendary coach has disagreed with many of those moves.

Jets’ Haason Reddick fires back at Bill Belichick after debut

Jets’ Haason Reddick fires back at Bill Belichick after debut

Former NFL head coach Bill Belichick provided some analysis of the Patriots’ 25-22 win over the Jets in Week 8 earlier this week. Haason Reddick was not a fan.

The pass rusher made his debut with the Jets after ending his holdout. His name was brought up in Belichick’s breakdown of the contest.

Belichick did not only mention Reddick, but during his rundown he did mention his name.

“Reddick came into the game and just ran past the quarterback multiple times, whether it was [Drake] Maye or Jacoby, and created those scramble lanes that the Patriots took advantage of,” Belichick said.

Reddick took that personally.

The defender took to his social media account on Twitter/X after hearing was Belichick said about him during an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show.” He decided to poke fun at the legendary coach and his current job status… which is Belichick being an analyst and no longer being a coach.

Reddick’s message can be found below:

Ex-Patriots HC Bill Belichick weighs in on Chiefs’ trade for Joshua Uche

See what former #Patriots HC Bill Belichick had to say about the #Chiefs’ trade with New England for pass-rusher Joshua Uche.

The Kansas City Chiefs acquired linebacker Joshua Uche from the New England Patriots in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft on Monday, and legendary head coach Bill Belichick was quick to share his thoughts about his former team’s latest deal on the ‘Pat McAfee Show.’

In his remarks, Belichick seemed to imply that he thought the sixth-round pick that the Patriots received for Uche constituted a relatively minimal return for New England given his status as a more-than-capable pass-rusher.

In adding Uche to their defense, the Chiefs have secured a young contributor who could become a spark plug for star lineman Chris Jones and budding defensive end George Karlaftis.

Listen to Belichick’s full remarks on the trade in this clip, which was posted to Twitter by the ‘Pat McAfee Show’:

Stay tuned to see if Uche can make an impact for Kansas City when he makes his Chiefs debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on ‘Monday Night Football’ in Week 9.

Bill Belichick breaks down Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams

Bill Belichick breaks down Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels.

Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels will forever be linked. Both are former Heisman Trophy winners and were the top two picks in the 2024 NFL draft, with Williams going first to the Chicago Bears and Daniels second to the Washington Commanders.

Both rookies are exceeding the already high expectations for them seven weeks into their respective NFL careers. Daniels has the Commanders at 5-2 and atop the NFC. He’s set multiple NFL and team records already. Meanwhile, Williams has the Bears at 4-2 and continues to improve each week.

On Sunday, Daniels and Washington host Williams and Chicago. The NFL wanted to flex the game into prime time but had to settle for the late afternoon kickoff on CBS.

Ahead of Sunday’s showdown, arguably the greatest coach of all-time, Bill Belichick, broke down the rookie passers on “Inside the NFL” with a particular emphasis on how Washington can defend Williams.

Here’s Belichick on Daniels and Williams:

A good breakdown by Belichick that had Chicago fans in shambles, thinking that the legendary coach was somehow praising Daniels while criticizing Williams. That’s not what he was doing.

Regardless of who wins on Sunday, this rivalry could be the next great quarterback rivalry over the next 10-12 years. If their respective careers go like we think they will, Williams and Daniels will see a lot of one another.

How Patriots DC responded to Bill Belichick’s tough criticism

This was DeMarcus Covington’s response

New England Patriots defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington was asked to respond to comments made by former Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

Belichick criticized the Patriots’ run defense, as the team gets set to take on the New York Jets. Statistically, the Patriots rank in the bottom half of the league with 136.1 rushing yards allowed per game.

They allowed 171 rushing yards and two touchdowns to the Jacksonville Jaguars in their Week 7 loss.

“I don’t really look too much into it like that,” Covington said in response to Belichick’s comments. “Bill’s done a lot of great things for me. He brought me here.”

The criticism has been hard for the Patriots this week, ahead of a division rivalry game against the Jets on Sunday. We’ll see if they’re able to use it as motivation to pull off an upset.

Bill Belichick continues to burn Patriots in latest wave of team criticisms

Bill Belichick isn’t pulling any punches

Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick continued his round of hot takes involving his former team when appearing on Underdog Fantasy’s “Coach with Bill Belichick” podcast.

Belichick broke down the sad state of the Patriots’ offensive line, along with slipping another Jerod Mayo zinger into the discussion with talk of the team being “soft.” The legendary coach was joined by former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia and assistant to the coaching staff Michael Lombardi.

“It’s Jets week, but boy, the Patriots got a lot of questions to answer between the head coach, the atmosphere, who’s soft and who’s not soft and so forth,” said Belichick. “…The Patriots can’t even get the same five guys on the field [on the offensive line]. That’s been an issue whether [Mike] Onwenu is playing guard or tackle. Two guys they signed in the offseason aren’t even on the team anymore. So it’s been a little bit of a musical chairs.”

Lombardi added: “When you ride bicycles in the locker room, I don’t know how you can pretend you’re not soft.”

Belichick had been quiet with his criticisms of the Patriots, but one has to wonder if recent incidents with the team irked him enough to start speaking out.

There was “The Dynasty: New England Patriots” documentary that depicted Belichick in a negative light, and owner Robert Kraft went on “The Breakfast Club” podcast and recently admitted to firing Belichick, despite the split being initially presented as a mutual parting of ways.

The gloves are starting to come off, and Patriots fans can only hope it doesn’t get any uglier between Belichick and Kraft.

How Patriots coach Jerod Mayo responded to Bill Belichick’s criticisms

How Jerod Mayo responded to Bill Belichick

New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo didn’t get off track when asked about the recent criticisms from former coach Bill Belichick. Instead of responding, Mayo kept the focus on the team in the wake of their sixth straight loss in Week 7 to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“My main focus is on the guys inside of this building,” Mayo said on Wednesday, via the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed.

After the 32-16 loss to the Jaguars, Mayo turned heads by calling his football team “soft.” Belichick disagreed with those comments and expressed his opinion that those sorts of remarks should be kept in-house.

“You know, look, I think when you criticize your team publicly like that, it doesn’t always go over well,” said Belichick, when appearing on the “Let’s Go!” podcast with Tom Brady and Jim Gray. “Now, every coach has their own style and maybe sometimes that can be effective and all, but ultimately I always felt like when a team played bad, that was my responsibility, too.”

Mayo walked back the “soft” comment by further clarifying that the Patriots were “playing soft.”

It’s important to remember this is Mayo’s first year as a head coach. So like the rookie players, he’s also learning on the job and improving as he goes along. If anything, this was a lesson on how important words at the podium after a devastating loss can be.
