Bill Belichick book ‘The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football’ to be released in May

Bill Belichick has a book coming out in May

Bill Belichick was quite busy in his season away from NFL coaching. In addition to all his media opportunities and appearances on television, the former Mew England Patriots coach was writing a book.

“The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football” will be coming out in May.

From the current North Carolina head coach’s IG post: “This past year has been full of “unexpected firsts” for me. I became a member of the media, I joined Instaface, and now I have the pleasure of announcing that I wrote a book which is titled: “The Art of Winning: Lessons From My Life in Football.” This book encompasses stories, philosophies, and principles from my journey and career thus far.”

Bill Belichick suggests perfect way to immortalize legendary QB Tom Brady

Should the NFL rename the Super Bowl trophy the “Brady Trophy?” Bill Belichick thinks so.

Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has never been one to take responsibility for winning Super Bowls, even though he’s the clear architect behind the greatest dynasty in NFL history.

When appearing on Sirius XM’s “Let’s Go!” podcast, the legendary coach talked about the importance of having good players on a team to win championships. There’s no winning without good football being played on the field, and that ultimately comes down to the players.

Brady, who many view as the greatest of all time, was one of those players to the point where Belichick suggested the Super Bowl trophy be renamed after him.

“Maybe they should name it the Brady trophy. He won seven of them,” said Belichick.

It’s a fair argument for a seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback.

Brady dominated in multiple eras of football for over 20 years. He even won in this era by going a perfect 2-0 against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. If anyone is worthy of having a championship trophy named after them, it’s Tom Brady.

Bill Belichick makes first major change as North Carolina head coach

Bill Belichick made his first major change at UNC

Bill Belichick made his first major change as head coach of North Carolina. The former New England Patriots coach reportedly had a lot to do with the decision for the field at Kenan Stadium to return to natural grass.

The project is expected to take about 12 weeks and 67,000 square feet of sod. The field will also have 36,000 square feet of turf around the perimeter of the field, per ON3.

It didn’t take long for Belichick to start putting his stamp on the program ahead of his scheduled debut against TCU on Monday, September 1. This will represent a new era for both Belichick and a Tar Heels program looking to get back to their winning ways.

Some wondered if Belichick would forgo college football and return to one of the head coaching openings in the NFL. However, the legendary coach appears to be locked in on his latest venture.

We’ll see if his NFL success translates to the collegiate level.

UNC flips linebacker from Navy in latest Class of 2025 commit

Another linebacker joined the UNC football program on Monday.

The North Carolina Tar Heels continue adding players to their football program, whether via the transfer portal or recruiting classes.

UNC, which will return several 2024 starters and reserves this coming fall, is trying to perfect its debut roster under new head coach Bill Belichick. North Carolina already has a pair of quarterbacks in Bryce Baker and Ryan Browne, plus a 4-star cornerback in Thaddeus Dixon, but the roster additions don’t stop there.

The Tar Heels added yet another recruit to their 2025 roster on Monday, January 27 – one who projects to be an integral part of their defense.

UNC’s addition is none other than Class of 2025 linebacker Jake Bauer, who UNC flipped from Navy.

Bauer had plenty of interest during his initial recruitment. According to InsideCarolina, he had offers from Air Force, Akron, Army, Kent State, Temple, several FCS schools, plus a pair of ACC programs in Pitt and Boston College.

Bauer’s commitment adds him to a young, deep 2025 linebacking corps headlined by Amare Campbell, who starred as a sophomore last year and previously withdrew himself from the transfer portal.

Bauer will be joined by three more linebacker additions next year: Lantz Pascal and Tyler Houser, a pair of 2025 recruits, plus Washington transfer Khmori House.

You might ask: with Belichick’s hiring, why isn’t North Carolina getting every 5-star player available?

You might also remember: Belichick has a proven history of turning players, particularly ones without tons of hype and starpower, into proven winners. Just look at what he did with Tom Brady.

Bill Belichick visits top 2026 quarterback recruit

Bill Belichick was on the recruiting trail again on Monday night.

Bill Belichick has been very busy on the recruiting trail as of late, working to build the future rosters for North Carolina. With his contract signed, the staff has moved forward in pursuit of top recruits in future classes.

And that includes one of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 class.

Belichick was in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday for an in-home visit with five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. The quarterback posted the in-home visit on his social media accounts and it comes just a month after Curtis said he was hoping get interest from Belichick and the Tar Heels’ program.

See the post below:

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Curtis has a total of 38 offers in his recruitment so far, including from all of the big programs. With programs like Georgia, Ohio State, and Oregon among others pursuing him, UNC will have some tough competition.

But it is good to see UNC pursue him and draw interest.

Curtis is ranked No. 4 nationally, No. 2 quarterback and No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee per the 247Sports composite rankings.

It will be interesting to see if the Tar Heels can make up some ground in this recruitment and be a legit contender moving forward.

Here’s when Bill Belichick will make college coaching debut

Bill Belichick will make his college debut in primetime

Bill Belichick will make his college football coaching debut on Monday, September 1 when the North Carolina Tar Heels take on the TCU Horned Frogs.

Kickoff for the game is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Patriots legend will be entering his first season in Chapel Hill. There have been questions regarding his contract status with the team considering multiple NFL head coaching jobs have opened. However, he officially signed a five-year deal with the Tar Heels on Wednesday.

Now, he will be looking to shift his focus to college football and taking over a program coming off a 6-6 season and a loss to Connecticut in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl.

Belichick embarking on his first head coaching gig at the collegiate level will be a must-watch.

On the other end, the Patriots are undergoing a new chapter of their own with Mike Vrabel taking over as the head coach and lead decision-maker on personnel. It’ll be a new era for New England and North Carolina in 2025.

Here’s how much Bill Belichick can make off UNC contract bonuses if he just makes it relevant

Bill Belichick might make a whole lot of money at UNC

Bill Belichick being the head football coach at North Carolina will never not be weird.

This is arguably the greatest NFL coach of all time, and one of the brightest football minds the world has ever seen, coaching in a place generally known as a basketball school. Again, this is weird.

But, folks. In this world, money talks. And Belichick stands to make a lot of it by taking this job.

A SURPRISE TWIST: Belichick’s UNC contract has a clause that could be beneficial for NFL teams this summer

UNC released Belichick’s contract details to the public following his official signing of the deal. The contract’s details come amid loads of speculation about what’s in it and what his buyout looks like in case there’s a return to the NFL in the future.

Now, we’ve got all the juicy little details about how much the Hall of Fame coach is making at UNC. On top of his $10 million salary, we also now know that Belichick has some hefty bonuses that could await him in the future.

Belichick gets varying bonuses for participating in the College Football Playoff. He gets:

  • $750,000 for being a participant
  • $1,000,000 if UNC makes the quarterfinals
  • $1,250,000 for making the semifinals
  • $1,500,000 for making the championship game
  • $1,750,000 for winning the championship game.

He also gets varying bonuses for finishing well in the College Football Playoff poll. He nets:

  • $250,000 for a top 25 finish
  • $300,000 for a top-20 finish
  • $375,000 for a top-15 finish
  • $425,000 for a top-10 finish
  • $500,000 for a top 5 finish

There are also incentives for making it to certain bowl games and title games. Belichick will receive:

  • $200,000 for an ACC title game appearance
  • $300,000 for an ACC title game win
  • $150,000 for a non-CFP bowl
  • $350,000 for a Tier 1 non-CFP bowl (Pop-Tarts Bowl, TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, Duke’s Mayo Bowl)

UNC offers a top-ranked football recruit in Class of 2026

Bill Belichick offered a big-name football recruit from Massachusetts over the weekend.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are suddenly becoming a top destination for college football talent, thanks to their offseason hiring of Bill Belichick.

UNC already has over 20 transfer portal commitments, including six from those who played for North Carolina in 2024, but withdrew. North Carolina has interest from quarterback Jared Curtis, the Class of 2026’s fourth-ranked player, plus talented edge rusher Zavion Griffin-Haynes re-opened his recruitment.

With a continued focus on growing the Tar Heels’ talent pool, Belichick dished out another offer to a top-ranked player in the 2026 recruiting class.

Offensive lineman Anthony Hall, who is Massachusetts’ top-ranked recruit in the 2026 class, received an offer from Belichick and his UNC staff after a weekend visit.

Hall is listed as an interior offensive lineman on his official 247Sports recruiting profile, but his MaxPreps profile lists him as both a guard and defensive tackle.

North Carolina already has three commitments in its 2026 recruiting class: in-state quarterback Zaid Lott, plus a pair of California cornerbacks in Marcellous Ryan and Justin Lewis.

One trend I’m noticing in Belichick’s early recruiting: he’s expanding his reach outside of North Carolina. That’s evident in Belichick’s recent recruiting trip to New Jersey, offering several players from national power Bergen Catholic.

The Tar Heels now also have the ability to land recruits outside of their home state, thanks to Belichick being arguably the greatest football coach to walk this Earth. That’ll happen when you’re an 8-time Super Bowl winner.

Belichick spent 24 seasons coaching the New England Patriots, so he knows Massachusetts well. If he lands a commitment from Hall, expect others from up east to follow.

Bill Belichick adds longtime NFL scout, SEC defensive assistant to UNC football staff

The newest members of Bill Belichick’s debut UNC football staff are proven winners.

As we get deeper into 2025, Bill Belichick continues adding to his inaugural UNC football coaching staff.

Belichick already has both his offensive and defensive coordinators, five positional coaches, several additional assists and a couple player personnel coaches.

Belichick’s inaugural North Carolina staff recently grew by two additional coaches – ones we are confident fans will be excited about.

On Sunday, January 19, the Tar Heels hired Bob Diaco to be their next linebackers coach. On Monday, January 20, UNC added Frantzy Jourdain to its player personnel staff.

Diaco spent the past two seasons as a defensive analyst at LSU, helping coach the Tigers to a pair of bowl victories under Brian Kelly. Diaco’s coaching experience spans far beyond his time in Baton Rouge, including a 3-year stretch as UConn’s head coach from 2014-2016.

North Carolina fans will be most excited to know, however, Diaco’s prowess as a defensive coordinator. He led Notre Dame‘s defense in its 2012 National Championship season, when it lost to Alabama – and earned the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach.

One trend we’ve seen on Belichick’s UNC staff is personal connections – whether to Belichick himself, or additional Tar Heels.

Belichick’s newest hire is Frantzy Jourdain, who spent 13 years as the New England Patriots’ scout. Jourdain was part of three Super Bowl-winning teams: 2003, 2004 and 2014.

Jourdain already has a connection to the state of North Carolina: he began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at NC Central.

Upon his initial hiring, Belichick said he wanted to turn UNC into an NFL program. His debut Tar Heels coaching staff reflects that desire.
