The biggest gaming news of the week: June 3, 2022

Pokémon, Madden Resident Evil, and Final Fantasy made headlines.

The E3 season is in full bloom. Well, it would be if the show was still around, anyway. It doesn’t matter, though — publishers worldwide are still dropping announcements like an early spring hailstorm.

Unlike the past few weeks, today’s news roundup is full of massive game reveals. No joke, between PlayStation’s recent State of Play showcase and the upcoming Sumer Game Fest, it’s like Christmas for nerds. You know things are good as gravy when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 details don’t make our list.

Enough small talk from me, though. Let’s jump right into the biggest news stories of the past week.

The biggest gaming news of the week: May 27, 2022

Marvel, Modern Warfare 2, and Morbius, oh my!

It’s time once again to look back on the video game industry’s biggest stories, then wince in disgust. In fairness, that’s my involuntary reaction towards everything these days. Being cynical beyond all reason has its drawbacks.

Truth be told, things were more exciting than last week. Witcher 4 development is moving along, Elden Ring fans are creating a seamless co-op mod, and Lord of the Rings: Gollum is actually coming out! Yeah, there weren’t any earth-shattering reveals, but let’s be happy that nothing big got delayed.

As part of Hollywood’s never-ending quest to adapt every major video game property, the Twisted Metal and Horizon Zero Dawn shows are moving forward. The former has Nev Campbell, so I’m sort of interested. Speaking of film stars, legendary actor Ray Liotta passed away, and GTA: Vice City fans are really feeling that loss.

But let’s move on from the honorable mentions and look at the big stories from this week.

The biggest gaming news of the week: May 20, 2022

Last of Us, Witcher 3, Silent Hill, and Genshin Impact all made headlines this week.

Once again, it’s time to look back upon a week’s worth of games industry news and despair. Or get ridiculously excited, depending on what went down! But seriously, how do we feel about Netflix maybe getting into live streaming?

Unlike our first roundup, this week was all about teases and announcing upcoming events! Be it Overwatch 2, Final Fantasy 7, or Dead By Daylight — publishers are reminding us that E3 season is upon us. Well, in spirit anyway, since the show got canceled. Either way, most studios are staying quiet until Summer Games Fest rolls around. Hype cycles and all that jazz.

Luckily, there’s still plenty to mull over. Let’s take a look at the biggest stories from the past week already.

The biggest gaming news of the week: May 13, 2022

Starfield delayed, EA ditches FIFA, and Shepard’s potential return in Mass Effect.

Welcome to GLHF‘s first-ever weekly news roundup! The place where I’ll remind you that video games are incredibly sick and equally as stupid. Seriously, what other industry obsesses over inane details like Master Chief losing his virginity? Nowhere else, friends.

This week was all over the place tonally as far as news goes. On the one hand, there were stories fascinating stories like Duke Nukem Forever‘s E3 2001 demo leaking and someone beating 12 Assassin’s Creed games without taking damage. While on the other, Remedy won’t show us Alan Wake 2 anytime soon. I’m certain that Sam Lake wants to punish me, specifically.

But enough honorable mentions already, let’s take a look at the biggest news stories from May 9 through May 13, 2022.
