Michigan football vs. UConn: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

The game starts at none EDT and can be seen on ABC.

The Wolverines are rolling at 2-0, while the Huskies stand at 1-2 — already having matched their win total in 2021 — two teams coming from different trajectories. While head coach Jim Mora is working to change things at UConn, he’s aware his team enters Ann Arbor completely outmatched.

Michigan is one of many Big Ten teams still undefeated. In fact, all of the teams in the vaunted East division are unbeaten, while only one team in the West, Minnesota, remains so.

Nebraska vs. Oklahoma: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

Check out the latest point spreads, bets and advice for Nebraska’s first game in the post-Scott Frost era.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers play the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, Sept. 17, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at BetMGM.

The game starts at 11 AM Central Time and can be seen on FOX or fuboTV.

The Scott Frost-less Cornhuskers stumble into the contest after falling 45-42 to Georgia Southern on Saturday. The loss was their eighth in their last nine games with seven of those losses coming by one possession. Unsurprisingly, Nebraska AD Trev Alberts announced Frost’s firing after Saturday’s loss while naming associate head coach Mickey Joseph as the Cornhuskers’ interim head coach. Frost finished his Nebraska coaching career with a 16-31 record and .340 winning percentage, the second-lowest of any Huskers football head coach who had held the role for more than four years. Nebraska’s lone win of the season was a 38-17 victory over FCS member North Dakota in Week 1.

Oklahoma is ranked No. 6 in both the USA Today Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25. The Sooners defeated UTEP 45-13 in Week 1 and Kent St. 33-3 in Week 2. Last season, Oklahoma put up a 10-2 record in the regular season, beating Oregon in the Alamo Bowl.

Last year, the No. 3-ranked Sooners squeaked by Nebraska 23-16 at home after the Huskers missed two field goals and an extra point that was blocked by Oklahoma and returned for a two-point conversion. The 2021 meeting marked the first time in 11 years that the two teams had clashed and Oklahoma leads the all-time series, which dates back to 1912, by a tally of 46-38.

No. 6 Oklahoma at Nebraska: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

The Oklahoma Sooners are double-digit favorites as the take their show on the road against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners go on the road to play the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at BetMGM.

The game starts at 11 a.m. central time and can be seen on Fox.

Through the first two weeks of the Brent Venables era, the Sooners are 1-1 against the spread, with a narrow miss in last week’s matchup vs. Kent State. They’ve been more than 30-point favorites each of the first two weeks and had a chance to cover late, but a failed fourth down attempt thwarted Oklahoma’s efforts.

The Sooners head to Lincoln to take on the Cornhuskers as double-digit favorites.

Advice and prediction

While last year’s game was a close ball game, this year’s Nebraska Cornhuskers are in a much different position. A season ago, it was their defense keeping them in ball games. This year it’s the offense, at least through the first three weeks.

The problem is Nebraska hasn’t faced a team as good as the Sooners yet in 2022. Oklahoma’s offense is going to be a nightmare for the Cornhuskers’ defense, which is allowing 492 yards per game and 31 points per game.

Rebounding from a slow start offensively a week ago, the Sooners jump out to an early lead. After a tightly contested first half, Oklahoma begins to pull away in the second for the big win.

Take Oklahoma minus the points and the under.

Prediction: Oklahoma 42-20

Record against the spread in 2022: 3-1.

No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners vs. Kent State Golden Flashes: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

The Oklahoma Sooners go into week two as heavy favorites yet again. This time it’s against the Kent State Golden Flashes. Can Oklahoma cover again?

The Oklahoma Sooners (1-0) play the Kent State Golden Flashes on Saturday, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds, and over/under numbers, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at Tipico Sportsbook.

The game starts at 6 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+ SoonerVision.

The Oklahoma Sooners opened the Brent Venables era covering the 30.5-point spread against UTEP set by Tipico Sportsbook. Though it took an interception in the end zone to seal the cover, the Sooners were in control of that contest throughout.

While a lull in the second quarter allowed UTEP to make some hay and get on the scoreboard, Oklahoma rebounded to finish the half strongly and carried that momentum over into the third quarter. After a week to watch the tape, it’s unlikely it will have a similar stretch of uninspiring play in week two against Kent State.

Kent State is coming off a 45-20 loss to the Washington Huskies in a game where their defense allowed Michael Penix, Jr. to throw for 345 yards and four touchdowns. After a serviceable Week 1, Dillon Gabriel has a big week two performance in the box score.

The lines, courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook

  • Point spread: Oklahoma -34.5
  • Money line: Oklahoma -10000/Kent State +1500
  • Over-under: 72.5

Advice and prediction

While 34.5 points may seem like a daunting spread to cover for Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners, the Sooners will be even better this week after a week to get the offense and defense tightened up after a strong Week 1 performance. Kent State will have its moments in this game, but ultimately the Sooners’ uptempo offensive attack and aggressive defense will be too much for the Flashes, leading to another big win and cover for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Take Oklahoma minus the points but go with the under as Oklahoma’s defense limits the Golden Flashes to 13 points.

Check out our Sooners Wire staff predictions.

Prediction: Oklahoma 56, Kent State 13

Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Georgia Southern Eagles odds, tips and betting trends | Week 2

Get all the latest information before game day!

The Nebraska Cornhuskers play the Georgia Southern Eagles on Saturday, Sept. 10, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at Tipico Sportsbook.

The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Central time and can be seen on Fox Sports 1.

The Cornhuskers and the Eagles are squaring off for the first time ever. Georgia Southern is a member of the Sun Belt Conference after making the jump from FCS to FBS in 2014.

Last week, the Huskers were knotted up at 17 against North Dakota, an FCS member, before reeling off 21 straight points in the second half for a victory. Running back Anthony Grant helped solidify his status in the backfield with 23 carries for 189 yards and two touchdowns, earning Co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts. Fellow tailback Ajay Allen tallied 60 yards and 11 carries and a score. The Huskers have played Sun Belt opponents 17 times and won 15 of those games.

In their first game under new head coach Clay Helton, Georgia Southern won in convincing fashion over Morgan St., 59-7. The Eagles put up over 500 yards of offense. Last season, Georgia Southern went 3-9 and the program is 0-2 all-time against Big Ten foes.
