Ravens injury report for Week 10: Updates on Lamar Jackson, Keaton Mitchell

The Baltimore Ravens have ruled out ISaiah Likely and Keaton Mitchell for the Thursday night game against the Cicinnati Bengals

The Ravens released their final injury report for Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime, and Lamar Jackson has no injury designation after missing a practice.

Baltimore ruled out Isiah Likely (hamstring) and Brent Urban (concussion), while Jalyn Armour-Davis is doubtful for the AFC North contest.

Running back Keaton Mitchell (knee) and Rasheen Ali (ankle) are questionable and will be decided at game time.

For Mitchell to play, Baltimore must activate him off the PUP list tomorrow.

Steelers add massive NT from Bengals

The Steelers got some help at defensive tackle with the addition of Domenique Davis.

Lost in the pair of trades the Pittsburgh Steelers made on Tuesday was the sneaky addition of defensive tackle Domenique Davis to the team’s practice squad.

Davis is a 6-foot-2, 326-pound defensive tackle from Division II UNC-Pembroke. The addition makes sense for a Steelers team with only five defensive linemen currently on the roster. Pittsburgh recently placed backup nose tackle Montravius Adams on IR leaving them without a backup and leaving the Steelers exposed in their run defense.

No one is saying Davis is going to suddenly resurrect his career with Pittsurgh but his body type fits what the Steelers are looking for and he should have ample opportunity to earn reps.

Chargers vs. Bengals flexed into Sunday Night Football

The Chargers will have three primetime games in a span of four weeks.

The Chargers will be playing in primetime in Week 11.

The NFL announced that Los Angeles’ matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Nov. 17, will now be Sunday Night Football on NBC. The game will kick off at 5:20 pm PT.

Originally, L.A. and Cincinnati were scheduled to play at 1:25 pm, with the game set to be televised on CBS. Now, it replaces the contest between the Jets and Colts.

With the Chargers slated for Sunday night, they will play three primetime games in four weeks, with the other two being against the Ravens (Monday night in Week 12) and the Chiefs (Sunday night in Week 14).

The last time the Bolts and Bengals met was in 2021. Los Angeles won, 41-22.

Bengals’ turnaround to contention isn’t happening this year, says NFL analyst

For one analyst, there’s zero chance the usual Bengals rebound happens.

After the Cincinnati Bengals Week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport had takeaways from every game played for each team.

After the Bengals fell 37-17, Davenport concluded that their slow start would be too much for them to overcome to be back in the mix for Super Bowl contention this season, citing issues with the defense and the run game as the best evidence for that.

Here’s some of what Davenport wrote:

Cincinnati still has time to make a postseason push, but no one should expect the Bengals to be in the Super Bowl mix this year. They still have yet to play well on both sides of the ball in the same game, and while Burrow is healthy, even he can’t overcome the many flaws the Bengals possess.

Now, sitting with a 3-5 record and three games behind the AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers, it is going to be a big uphill climb for the Bengals, but it’s something they have done before, after starting slow multiple times.

There are still nine games to go on the schedule for Cincinnati, so the second half of the season could end up being a completely different story, and NFL experts could be kicking themselves later down the road for doubting what this team could do. But the Bengals have certainly put themselves in a tough spot.

Bengals rookie’s willingness to get violent sets him apart

A Bengals rookie breakout continues to do the little things that matter.

The Cincinnati Bengals addressed the tight end room in multiple ways over the offseason, most notably signing Mike Gesicki and drafting Erick All with their fourth-round selection.

And so far, All has already been showing that he was worth that draft capital in multiple ways in his rookie season. His blocking ability has been noticed by his new offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher, who commented on it early in October.

“I’ll say this. Maybe it goes beyond willing and turns into eager — an eagerness to be violent,” Pitcher said. “That’s probably a better descriptor.”

That is one way he has been earning himself playing time, but he has also shown off his ability to be a pass catcher in his rookie campaign.

He has brought in 18 catches for 134 yards with no scores yet. He has three games this season with four catches, coming in three straight weeks.

All is proving to be one of few tight ends who can successfully block and catch at an above-average level for his position, and those could only get better with more experience at the next level.

While his rookie season isn’t likely going exactly as he planned at the team level to this point, All is providing some great early returns for the Bengals on the field and has been a bright spot.

Bengals coach details how Jordan Battle can earn more playing time

Here’s how coaches see things working for Jordan Battle.

The Cincinnati Bengals defense had a rough start to the 2024 season during the team’s 0-3 start, but has rebounded since then and is starting to become more consistent.

One player who has been a part of that effort in the past two weeks is safety Jordan Battle, who has been rotating with Geno Stone against the Browns and Giants in the last two wins.

The Bengals used a third-round pick on Battle in the 2023 NFL draft, and he has played in 24 games to this point, with 80 tackles, four for loss, six passes defended, and an interception in his young career. He hasn’t been as involved in the defense so far this year, but defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo thinks that could change moving forward if he can continue playing the way he has been.

“He’s becoming more consistent and that’s the good news,” Anarumo said. “He’s just got to stay there. That’s the key.”

Stone was carted off the field against Cleveland in Week 7, but will return for the game against the Eagles on Sunday. But if Stone isn’t able to suit up, Battle is going to have to be ready to play a big role against what can be a high-powered Philadelphia Eagles offense.

Joe Burrow isn’t too concerned about Bengals’ offensive struggles

Joe Burrow with some interesting thoughts before Week 8.

The Cincinnati Bengals have won two straight games against New York and Cleveland, but have had some slight struggles on offense, with just 304 total yards and 17 points against the Giants, and 223 yards and 21 points against the Browns.

Despite scoring 38 points combined in the last two weeks, as many as they did against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5, Joe Burrow isn’t concerned about the offense.

“We scored over 30 and we lost. Now we’ve won two in a row. So, no, I’m not concerned,” Burrow said, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic.

The Bengals are 3-4 through seven weeks of the season and have had offensive struggles at some points, but what they have done the past two weeks has been enough to get wins.

However, the run game has to be concerning on some level. The team is tied for 28th in the league in rushing yards per game with just 94.3 so far. Some of that surely has to do with the offensive line injuries, but losing Joe Mixon over the offseason has obviously hurt that aspect of the unit.

Burrow has the ability to make up for that lack of rushing with his arm, but at some point, the run game will have to be addressed.

Perhaps Burrow will end up being right and the offense will be alright moving forward, but there are some things that could be cause for concern.

Bengals should go after big pass-rusher in 2025 free agency, says NFL analyst

The Bengals are suggested as a fit for a big name in free agency.

There might still be a long way to go in the NFL season, but Bleacher Report is looking ahead to what every team might need when the offseason comes around, and they believe the Cincinnati Bengals need to strengthen their front four on the defensive side of the ball.

It’s not a secret that the Bengals defense hasn’t been what the team hoped it would be in the first few games of the season, and while there isn’t much they can do this season about it other than hope the current players improve and possibly making a trade, they can start looking at future free agents to sign.

Bleacher Report thinks Cincinnati should take a look at defensive end Chase Young, who has been an elite pass rusher in his time in the league.

Here’s what Bleacher Report had to say about it:

The Bengals defense is in dire need of new blood. The once-feared group led by Lou Anarumo is in a position where they just don’t have many players that move the needle. Trey Hendrickson had three sacks coming into this week’s game, and there just isn’t much depth behind him.

Chase Young could be one of the most talented edge-rushers in the free-agent class. Bringing the former Buckeye back to Ohio could be a fun story that would also help the Bengals with an important need that must be addressed.

It wouldn’t hurt for the Bengals to at least take a look at Young, but they also have other possible additions the team could make. It says Cincinnati should also look to trade for New England Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones and should look for Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham, who will more than likely be going in the first round.

Former Bengals RB Joe Mixon keeps putting up huge games with new team

Former Bengals RB Joe Mixon is a great fit with his new squad.

Over the offseason, the Cincinnati Bengals made the decision to move on from running back Joe Mixon, who had been with the team for six seasons.

Mixon was traded to the Houston Texans, and outside of dealing with an injury for a few weeks, he has shown that he is still a great back in his age-28 season. In three games this year, he has 52 carries for 286 yards and two touchdowns.

Two of his three games have gone over 100 yards rushing, the only one that he didn’t being the game he was injured in by a hip-drop tackle, forcing him to sit out in the Texans next three games.

The Bengals haven’t been off to a great start, and whether Mixon being in the backfield would have had any effect on that can’t be determined, but the team is currently 26th in the NFL in rushing yards per game with 100.2 in six weeks.

The combination of Zack Moss and Chase Brown has been one that is improving as the offense as a whole starts to find its groove, but Mixon still seems to be the very talented runner that he was with Cincinnati for the past six years.

Chargers sign CB Eli Apple to practice squad

The signing of Eli Apple came after a flurry of injuries to players in the position room.

The Chargers signed cornerback Eli Apple to the practice squad.

The addition of Apple comes after Asante Samuel Jr. was placed on injured reserve last week, and Kristian Fulton and Deane Leonard exited the Week 6 win over the Broncos with their respective injuries.

Apple played with the Dolphins during the 2023 season. He began his career with the Giants, who selected him with the No. 10 pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft. He was there until 2018, with the Saints from 2018 to 2019, with the Panthers for 2020 and the Bengals from 2021 and 2022.

In 98 games (82 starts), Apple has 381 tackles, three forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, 60 pass deflections and six interceptions.
