The New York Jets (1-1) welcome the Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) to MetLife Stadium Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Bengals vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Jets enter this game off of one of the most thrilling comebacks in the NFL this season. They trailed the Cleveland Browns 30-17 with under 2 minutes left and pulled out a 31-30 victory.

QB Joe Flacco threw for 4 touchdowns, 2 of which went to rookie WR Garrett Wilson in his first NFL game eclipsing 100 receiving yards. Rookie RB Breece Hall turned 7 carries into 50 rushing yards.

The Bengals were able to rally back from a rough start at the Dallas Cowboys but still managed to lose 20-17 to arguably the worst team in the NFL. Dallas played with QB Cooper Rush under center in place of injured star QB Dak Prescott.

The Bengals opened their season with a 23-20 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Star QB Joe Burrow has struggled so far this season, throwing for 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Money line

PASS.

The Jets are enticing at +210, especially at home coming off a win over Cleveland. I’ll pass here though as I don’t see the Bengals losing 3 straight to commence the season off their Super Bowl appearance last year.

Against the spread

LEAN JETS +5.5 (-103).

The Jets looked good last week.

Despite the late-game heroics needed, Flacco did enough, and he’ll again get the start against a Bengals team that allowed Rush to drive on them late in the game and get in field goal range.

Wilson and Hall provide some spunk to the offense, enough to help Flacco do what he does best as a signal-caller who is not special yet certainly competent. Flacco had a near-perfect game against the Browns.

Bengals bettors may continue to the buy-low strategy, but there have been few positives. Burrow has been sacked 13 times, and the offensive line with 4 new starters looks as confused as ever.

They have still allowed more than 20 points per game despite not playing against a competent offense. Put it all together, and I’ll back the JETS +5.5 (-103).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 45.5 (-115).

Whether it was against Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry or Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, the Bengals’ defense played well in the 2022 postseason and was the main force behind that long postseason run.

They returned many key players who have held both opponents to 23 or fewer points despite Burrow struggling with turnovers. The Jets do not have a real standout weapon, and Wilson will likely be followed by CB Chidobe Awuzie.

Similarly, the Bengals have scored 37 points through 2 games, and their offense seems to stall in the endzone. They struggle against elite pass rushers, and DE Carl Lawson and DT Sheldon Rankins fit the mold.

With that in mind, I’ll back the UNDER 45.5 (-115).

The Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) visit the New York Jets (1-5) Sunday in Week 8 for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff at MetLife Stadium (on CBS). Below, we look at the Bengals vs. Jets odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

Cincinnati is coming off an impressive 41-17 victory at the Baltimore Ravens as a 6.5-point underdog. QB Joe Burrow threw for a career-high 416 yards with 3 touchdowns as Cincy catapulted to the top of the AFC North and atop the conference.

The Jets were manhandled by the New England Patriots 54-13 in Week 7. Adding salt to the wound was the loss of rookie QB Zach Wilson, who exited with a right knee injury early in the second quarter.

With Wilson out 2 to 4 weeks, New York traded for veteran QB Joe Flacco, who was playing backup for the Philadelphia Eagles. However, QB Mike White is expected to make his first career NFL start Sunday.

PASS. Betting the Bengals (-540), or any favorite, at 5.4 times your return is not a wise strategy.

Against the spread

CINCINNATI -11.5 (-108) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager.

Some might believe the Bengals are due for a letdown after their upset of the Ravens.

The same thought was in play when Cincy visited the Detroit Lions in Week 6 following a respectable 25-22 overtime home loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Bengals responded by spanking the Lions 34-11 as the defense didn’t allow a point until the fourth quarter.

That defense is turning out to be an unexpected surprise. It ranks fifth in points allowed per game (18.3) and seventh in rushing yards allowed per contest (94.0).

It should dominate a Jets squad averaging a league-low 13.3 points per game and will be starting an inexperienced quarterback. White has just one NFL game under his belt when he relieved Wilson against the Patriots and threw for 202 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.

As for Cincy’s offense, Burrow (1,956 passing yards, 17 TDs) has numerous weapons. There’s former LSU teammate and rookie WR Ja’Marr Chase (754 receiving yards, 6 TDs), WR Tyler Boyd (329, 1), WR Tee Higgins (256, 2) and TE C.J. Uzomah (256, 5).

Chase ranks third in the league with 107.7 receiving yards per game.

RB Joe Mixon leads the ground attack with 4 rushing touchdowns and 539 rushing yards, which is third in the league.

This all spells trouble for the Jets defense, which ranks 25th against the run (127.5 yards allowed per game) and 25th against the pass (275.0 yards per game).

It should be a long afternoon for the Jets all around.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 42.5 (-112) to WIN 0.2 UNITS. If the line drops below 41, avoid.

It was already mentioned the Jets don’t score. I could see the Bengals scoring 5 touchdowns, but an Over ticket would still need help from the home side.
