Euro 2024: France vs. Belgium odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s France vs. Belgium odds and lines, with Euro 2024 expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

France battles Belgium in the Round of 16 of Euro 2024 from Dusseldorf Arena Monday. Kickoff is set for noon ET (FOX). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the France vs. Belgium odds, and make our best Euro 2024 bets, picks and predictions.

France came in second in Group D, winning 1 match and drawing its other 2. It ended with just 2 goals for and 1 against. For a team of its caliber attack, France certainly had an underwhelming group stage. France beat Austria, the group winner, 1-0 in its opener, drew Netherlands 0-0 and drew Poland 1-1. Having lost to Argentina in the World Cup final in 2022, France is among the powerhouses in European football. It was 2-1-1 in its four 2024 friendlies.

Belgium, which is led by Man City star M Kevin De Bruyne, lost to Slovakia 1-0, beat Romania 2-0 and drew Ukraine 0-0. For a team that sits 3rd in the world per the FIFA World Rankings, it was also a discouraging group stage. It did end each match with 55% or greater possession. Belgium was 2-2-0 (2 draws) in its 4 friendlies prior to the tournament.

France vs. Belgium picks and predictions

Prediction

France 2, Belgium 1

Moneyline (ML)

BET FRANCE (-110).

France has arguably the most talented side in the world behind a trio of skilled forwards led by F Kylian Mbappe. It plays its best against top competition, having taken down England in the World Cup quarterfinals 2-1 and then Morocco in the semifinals 2-0. It didn’t have a great group stage here, but it wasn’t truly tested often.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of Belgium. It struggled mightily against both Ukraine and Slovakia and arguably was outplayed against the former, ending with 1 shot fewer. The middle of the field outside of De Bruyne isn’t quite as strong and keeping pace with a high-octane French side will be easier said than done.

Expect France to shine when the lights are the brightest. BET FRANCE (-110).

Check out Pro Soccer Wire: For the American soccer fan, USA TODAY Sports Media Group’s website provides a fresh look at the beautiful game.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (+116).

For both sides, the talent to put the ball in the back of the net is there. While France scored just 2 goals through the group stage, it was getting the opportunities and had double-digit shots in each match. France had gone Over this total in 3 of its last 7 games.

Despite France’s defensive success, Poland, Austria, and Netherlands don’t have the firepower or pace of De Bruyne, F Jérémy Doku and Co.

Belgium has gone Over in 2 of its last 6 matches but also has played teams with a fraction of the attacking talent of France.

Expect the offensive talent to finally come out, and at this value, BACK OVER 2.5 (+116).

2022 World Cup: Croatia vs. Belgium odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Croatia vs. Belgium odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Croatia (1 win, 0 losses, 1 draw) battles Belgium (1-1-0) in both nations’ final Group F group stage match. Kickoff from Ahmad bin Ali Stadium is set for 10 a.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Croatia vs. Belgium odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Croatia drew Morocco 0-0 in their 1st match and destroyed Canada 4-1 Sunday. Croatia roared back after giving up a 2nd-minute goal and led 2-1 at the half. It ended with 10 shots on target and allowed just 2 on frame from Canada. Croatia is led by 37-year-old M Luka Modric, who captains the Group F leaders.

Belgium took down Canada 1-0 in their 1st match and then lost to Morocco 2-0, having the majority of possession in both games. Captained by Man City star M Kevin de Bruyne, Belgium will need a win (or a Morocco loss to Canada by 3 or more goals) to advance with Croatia and Morocco both with 4 points.

Prediction

Croatia 2, Belgium 1

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN CROATIA (+170).

As de Bruyne said earlier in the tournament, Belgium is just too old, and they looked that part against Morocco.

Even against Canada, Belgium had 13 fewer shots and just 54% of the possession. Canada was among the 1st 2 teams eliminated from the knockout stage, so that is far from an impressive look despite a 1-0 win.

Croatia proved they were more than their aging captain as well. Modric is the star, but M Mateo Kovacic, who plays for Chelsea, and F Andrej Kramaric, who plays in the Bundesliga for 1899 Hoffenheim, have had several impactful moments throughout the 1st 2 matches.

Belgium has won the possession battle and still lost. Against a team with a far better midfield than they’ve faced this tournament, expect Belgium to lag behind. Take Croatia (+170) as they still have something to play for.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (+110).

Croatia put up 4 goals on Canada. Modric has the talent to get players in a position to succeed.

While de Bruyne hasn’t translated what he can do into goals, they should come given that Belgium has 19 shots through 2 games and just 1 goal.

The Belgium defense has also been underwhelming, allowing 22 shots to Canada and 10 to a defensive-minded Morocco team. Croatia, who has the talent to finish, could abuse those flaws.

Prior to World Cup action, Belgium was 6-3 O/U this total through 9 matches in 2022. Considering that, and Croatia’s strength in the final 3rd, back the Over 2.5 (+110).

2022 World Cup: Belgium vs. Morocco odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Belgium vs. Morocco odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Belgium (1 win, 0 losses, 0 draws) takes on Morocco (0-0-1) Sunday in a Group F group stage match with kickoff from Al Thumama Stadium set for 8 a.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Belgium vs. Morocco odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

One of the favorites coming into the tournament, Belgium, the No. 2 team in FIFA’s world rankings, did not look as good as predicted in their opener against Canada. They won 1-0, but were outshot 22-9.

M Kevin de Bruyne, who plays for Manchester City, is among the best playmakers in the entire tournament. Belgium did have 54% possession, so expect them to control most of this game.

Morocco, the No. 22 team in FIFA’s rankings, drew Croatia. It wasn’t the most action-packed event as the 2 sides combined for 13 shot and 4 just on target in the 0-0 draw.

PSG D Achraf Hakimi is the most notable player for the Moroccan side. He is among the most talented defensive backs in the world. Expect his leadership to help Morocco in this battle.

Prediction

Belgium 1, Morocco 0

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN BELGIUM (-103).

Belgium didn’t look comfortable against Canada, but the Canadian team may be better than most realize.

The attacking prowess with F Eden Hazard and F Dries Mertens is still capable of producing for Belgium. GK Thibaut Courtois is also arguably the best in the world at his position, stopping a penalty kick to hold a clean sheet in their opener, which makes getting scored on much more difficult.

Given the Morocco attack didn’t produce much against Croatia with just 2 shots on goal, I would expect them to be held scoreless here.

The strength for Morocco is in their backline, but Belgium has the capable pieces to break through despite a poor showing in their 1st game. If anything, that might have just aided the odds for what should easily be the best team in the group.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-130).

Most of this should be self-explanatory. Morocco didn’t score and had only 2 shots on target while Belgium had 1 breakthrough, but was held defending most of the game as Canada looked like a much stronger side.

Morocco does have F Hakim Ziyech, who plays for Chelsea, but he hasn’t scored in 152 minutes so far this season and had just 4 goals in 23 games played last season.

With Hakami in the back for Morocco, wingers Hazard and Mertins should struggle to produce for most of the game. I expect them to break through at least once, but certainly not on a regular occasion.

2022 World Cup: Belgium vs Canada odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Belgium vs Canada odds and lines, with World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In a Group F opener for both sides, Canada takes on Belgium Wedenesday. Kickoff from Ahmad bin Ali Stadium is at 2 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Belgium vs. Canada odds, and make our best World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Belgium comes into this World Cup strong winning 4 games from 9 matches this calendar year, 2 of which came against teams competing in the World Cup. Those triumphs came against Wales and Poland (twice). Its most dominant performance of the year was a 6-1 victory over Poland in June in the UEFA Nations Cup.

Belgium’s squad stands out to a lot of people in this World Cup. Manchester City M Kevin De Bruyne is undoubtedly its best playmaker. However, Inter Milan F Romelu Lukaku — Belgium’s most dominant attacker — has just 1 goal for his club this season.

Canada has won 7 of 12 games in 2022, 3 of which were against countries in the World Cup (USA, Japan, and Qatar). Bayern Munich F Alphonso Davies is its most dangerous player and has 34 caps for his country and M Atiba Hutchinson is nearing his 100th appearance for Canada.

Prediction

Belgium 2, Canada 0

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN BELGIUM (-190).

Belgium is ranked 2nd in the FIFA Men’s Rankings, making it one of the strongest teams on paper coming into this World Cup. F Eden Hazard is one of Belgium’s strongest wingers and has 123 caps. His experience alone says a lot about how strong of a team it’s assembled.

Canada is ranked 41st in the world but should be an exciting competitor after beating several teams in this tournament. However, its 16.13% implied win percentage is indicative of how strong of a team it faces Wednesday.

Canada is mostly comprised of players that compete on MLS teams, while Belgium draws more from the EPL, La Liga, and Bundesliga. Also, Davies, their key player, may not be at 100% right now due to a hamstring injury, although he recently returned to training in full.

The talent for Belgium (-190) will be too much, but at this value, it is just a partial-unit play.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+110).

Both teams have the capability to put the ball in the back of the net, but overall, Belgium has played a much stronger schedule and has more players that they can trust to score.

Belgium GK Thibaut Courtois is among the best in the world, and Belgium has gone Under this total in 4 of their last 4 competitions against World Cup sides.

Canada, on the other hand, has scored 20 goals in all competitions in their 2022 season. Unfortunately, they will not be able to compete or continue to score goals at will because they have not played a team of Belgium’s caliber this year.

Although Canada looks impressive on the scoresheet, Belgium just has too many weapons defensively to allow Canada to create many opportunities. Belgium has allowed just 4 goals in their last 5 competitions against WC teams.

Back the UNDER 2.5 (+110).

Euro 2020: Belgium vs. Italy odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Belgium vs. Italy odds and lines, with UEFA EURO 2020 picks, tips, predictions and best bets.

In the second quarterfinal match of Euro 2020, Belgium will take on Italy Friday afternoon. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m ET at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. Below, we preview the Belgium vs. Italy odds and lines and make our best Euro 2020 bets, picks and predictions.

Despite being more of the home side in this upcoming match, Belgium, who narrowly escaped Portugal in the Round of 16, will probably be without MF Kevin De Bruyne and winger Eden Hazard in the quarterfinals. The decision on whether they play is expected to be at the “last minute,” according to manager Roberto Martinez.

That will drastically change both the game plan for Belgium, which sits atop the FIFA World Rankings, and Italy, which ranks seventh.

Italy is coming off a hard-fought victory over Austria in the Round of 16, after winning its Group Stage games by a combined score of 7-0. With Turkey, Switzerland, Wales, and Austria as their first four opponents, this will be a massive test for the Italians, even if Belgium is forced to sit its two best talents.

Prediction

Belgium 1, Italy 1 (Belgium wins in extra time)

Money line (ML)

“LEAN” to BELGIUM TO ADVANCE (+110) but do it with hesitancy because of the injuries to the stars. If De Bruyne and Hazard are ruled out, MF Dries Mertens would have to step up.

The difference in skill is enough to pass on this money line in general. Given the odds for Belgium, I’d bet on it to advance, assuming it may get at least some time on the pitch from Hazard and De Bruyne.

For Italy, it failed to get anything going in 90 minutes against Austria and had just 6 shots on goal in 120 minutes. Both goals came in extra time. While the defense looked flawless in the Group Stage and has been a formidable side for years, Austria had 16 shots and got one in the back of the net late in extra time.

Belgium is a different animal, one with the attacking prowess of F Romelu Lukaku.

Expect Belgium to get something going against Italy. I think this game ends in extra time or penalty kicks with Belgium coming out on top.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 1.5 GOALS IN THE SECOND HALF (+145) because both sides like to do their work late.

Belgium has scored 8 goals in this tournament and 5 of them have come in the second half. Seven of Italy’s 9 goals have come in the second half or extra time.

While this bet is only for the second half, I think it gives better value than Over 2.5 (+130) for the full match. All it takes is for 1 goal early in the second half for this game to loosen up.

With substitutes and tired legs and goalies, the second half has produced big-time efforts. The teams don’t give up, and I’d bet that these two combine for a pair of goals in the second half.

They’ve done most of their work in the final 45 minutes, and that’s the bet I’d take for the Over. However, as with any total in soccer, only the most risk inclined should be looking into this one.

Euro 2020: Belgium vs. Portugal odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Belgium vs. Portugal odds and lines, with UEFA EURO 2020 picks, tips, predictions and best bets.

In arguably the most notable game of the Round of 16 at Euro 2020, Portugal and Belgium take the pitch Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. The match will be held at Estadio Olimpico de la Cartuja in Seville, Spain, making Portugal more of the home side. Below, we preview the Belgium vs. Portugal odds and lines and make our best Euro 2020 bets, picks and predictions.

One of the favorites to win Euro 2020 and the most dominant sides in the group stage, Belgium, the No. 1 team in FIFA World Rankings, will look to continue its quest to the throne of Europe. It’ll need to get past the previous Euro winner in Portugal.

With F Cristiano Ronaldo the star of the Portuguese team, it’s only in this position after being placed in the Group of Death with Germany, France and home-sided Hungary. Portugal finished third in the group but is fifth in the world rankings.

Belgium vs. Portugal: Odds, picks and predictions

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday 6 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Belgium +145 (bet $100 to win $145) | Portugal +200 (bet $100 to win $200) | Draw +225

Prediction

Belgium 3, Portugal 2

Money line (ML)

BET on BELGIUM (+145) because it has looked terrific so far. After getting MF Kevin De Bruyne back, Belgium has looked unstoppable.

It defeated Denmark 2-1 in the group stage. Denmark just handed Wales a 4-0 defeat in the Round of 16 Saturday, as an illustration of its talent. Having played a couple of difficult games, Belgium has been able to get F Romelu Lukaku going without expending too much energy.

Portugal had to give its all just to get here. Ronaldo has been terrific with a tournament-leading 5 goals. No other player had 4 in the group stage.

Can Portugal D Pepe and GK Rui Patricio keep the dangerous Belgian attack at bay? Can MF Bruno Fernandes be a star alongside the aging Ronaldo?

If those things can happen, Portugal has a chance, but from front to back, I still think Belgium will take care of business. A plus-money bet for them to win in regulation is solid value.

Belgium at -145 to just advance also offers good value.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the OVER 2.5 (+105) because at the value it’s easily the better bet.

While one may look at Belgium having conceded just 1 goal and be opposed to this, Portugal’s three games totaled 13 goals. Ronaldo, on the world’s biggest stage, gets the job done.

While I don’t envision his team coming out on top, it’d be shocking not to see him put one in the net. Given the brilliance of De Bruyne and the aggression of Lukaku, this is likely to be a high-scoring affair.

Belgium held both Russia and Finland, neither a top-35 team in the world, scoreless. Ronaldo will pose a different threat Belgium hasn’t seen so far this tournament.

You can also get Over 3.5 goals for +250 as a secondary play; however, these bets are for regular-time goals, so overtime wouldn’t add to the count.
