BKFC 56 results: Champ Christine Ferea wins rematch vs. Bec Rawlings, calls out Cris Cyborg

Christine Ferea left no doubt against Bec Rawlings at BKFC 56 then turned her attention to Cris Cyborg.

As much animosity as there has been between [autotag]Christine Ferea[/autotag] and [autotag]Bec Rawlings[/autotag], both women respect each other. And it showed during their rematch at BKFC 56.

In the end, Ferea was simply too good as she won a clean-sweep unanimous decision over Rawlings to retain her flyweight title in the BKFC 56 co-main event Saturday night in Salt Lake City. Roughly seven months after a second-round doctor’s stoppage win over Rawlings, Ferea earned three 50-45 scores from the judges.

Rawlings wasn’t without her successes landing punches, but they simply didn’t match up to Ferea’s power throughout the fight. Ferea also landed more strikes by a margin of 130-94, according to stats on the broadcast.

Afterward, Ferea turned her attention to reigning Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg.

“Absolutely, she’s the one that I looked up to young in my career,” Ferea said. “And they say one day you have to fight the people that were kind of like your idol. I definitely want Cris Cyborg. I think I’ll mop her up in here.”

Cyborg, who’s long been discussed as a possible opponent for Kayla Harrison in PFL, has a Jan. 19 boxing match coming up against Kelsey Wickstrum.

Cyborg hasn’t competed in bareknuckle boxing.

Former UFC champ Eddie Alvarez vs. Mike Perry to headline stacked BKFC 56 event

Multiple title fights and matchups between former UFC stars, including Eddie Alvarez vs. Mike Perry, are set for BKFC 56 in december.

BKFC is putting together a stacked December event headlined by two former UFC stars, along with three title fights.

Former UFC lightweight champion [autotag]Eddie Alvarez[/autotag] will take on [autotag]Mike Perry[/autotag] in the headlining bout at 175 pounds at BKFC 56 on Dec. 2. The event will take place at Maverik Center in Salt Lake City. BKFC president David Feldman announced the news on The MMA Hour.

Alvarez (1-0 BKFC) made his bareknuckle debut in April, against fellow UFC veteran Chad Mendes in the co-headliner of BKFC 41. It was a very competitive bout in which both fighters scored knockdowns. The judges would have their say and declared Alvarez the winner by a thin split decision result.

Perry (3-0 BKFC) has quickly become one of the biggest stars in bareknuckle boxing after his exit from the UFC in 2021. After defeating Julian Lane by unanimous decision in his BKFC debut, “Platinum” went on to win an incredible battle against Michael Page at BKFC 27, and then stop former UFC champion Luke Rockhold by second-round TKO in the main event of BKFC 41.

Rounding out the main card will be a trio of championship fights: [autotag]Christine Ferea[/autotag] will put her flyweight title on the line against [autotag]Bec Rawlings[/autotag], Arnold Adams and Mick Terrill will compete for the vacant heavyweight title, and Kai Stewart will look to defend his featherweight title against Howard Davis.

Bec Rawlings has fallen in love with boxing, lacing up gloves to stay busy until BKFC calls again

Former UFC and Bellator fighter Bec Rawlings will put her gloves back on for her next fight – but in boxing.

[autotag]Bec Rawlings[/autotag] will put gloves back on for her next fight.

Rawlings has a 3-1 record with BKFC after she parted ways with the UFC in 2018. More recently in MmA, she has gone 1-1 for Bellator. Now she will make her professional boxing debut Saturday against Natasha Kurene at an event called Star Power in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

Rawlings hasn’t competed since a unanimous decision loss to Britain Hart at BKFC 26 in June. With BKFC offering her no fights for the remainder of the year, Rawlings has decided to lace up the gloves to remain active.

“Bare Knuckle haven’t been booking me. They’re not booking me until next year, so I just decided to put my gloves on and have my pro boxing debut to stay busy and mix it up in the gloves boxing,” Rawlings told MMA Junkie. “I felt like my last fight in June was very lackluster, so I wanted to get back in there as soon as possible and January of next year wasn’t good enough for me.”

The 16-fight MMA veteran says bareknuckle boxing has sparked up a major interest in boxing and she isn’t sure if she’ll compete in MMA again. Rawlings’ husband, Adrian Rodriguez, has competed for the same boxing promotion for which she’ll make her debut, which helped land her this opportunity.

“Since doing bareknuckle boxing, I’ve fallen in love with boxing as a sport. So putting the gloves on has always been something I’ve wanted to do. I feel like it’s the perfect timing for me. I’m just coming into my boxing style, really. I’m falling in love with the sport and the skill that it takes to do. Being on the card for me is perfect timing right now while Bareknuckle aren’t keeping me busy.”
