Bears season ticket prices will not increase for the 2021 season

Bears season ticket holders received a bit of good news from Ted Phillips as he announced ticket prices won’t increase for the 2021 season.

Chicago Bears season ticket holders received a bit of good news from team president and CEO Ted Phillips on Monday.

According to Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune, Phillips sent a letter addressed to all season ticket holders and confirmed the Bears will not raise prices for the 2021 season.

In a copy of the letter posted on Reddit, Phillips writes: “The 2021 season ticket information will be shared in the coming days. Season ticket prices will not be increased for the upcoming season. This decision will not change even if we were to host a ninth regular season game and only one preseason contest in 2021.”

Phillips also states that if Soldier Field is unable to be filled to capacity, or if they are unable to have any live fans in attendance, all season ticket holders will receive a refund or can credit their payments to the 2022 season.

In addition to the ticket information, Phillips detailed the team’s “robust stadium cleaning and disinfecting plan” as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new safety features include touchless payment options at concessions and retails locations, hand sanitizing stations, continued use of the mobile-only ticketing system, and new hygiene signage.

While the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the Bears from having fans in the stands, they did increase ticket prices by nearly four percent last year heading into the 2020 season. It was the second consecutive year where the team raised prices for season ticket holders.

More ticket information for the 2021 season is expected to be shared in the coming days and weeks.

There will be no Chicago Bears season-ticket packages in 2020

If Bears fans are allowed at Soldier Field, tickets will be made available on a single-game basis exclusively to season ticket holders.

With the start of the 2020 NFL regular season, we still don’t know whether or not fans will be allowed at Soldier Field. But we do know that if the Chicago Bears will be allowed to open their stadium to fans, that it would be at a limited capacity.

The Bears announced Friday that there will be no season-ticket packages for the 2020 season, and that if fans are allowed at Soldier Field, tickets would be made available on a single-game basis exclusively to season ticket holders.

Here’s what Bears President and CEO Ted Phillips  said in a statement sent to the media.

“It was a tough decision, but the health and safety of everyone must remain our top priority. If we are able to host fans at home games, Season Ticket Holders, starting with PSL holders, will have the first opportunity to purchase single-game tickets. We are incredibly thankful for their loyalty, patience and support throughout this unique and challenging time.”

Earlier this offseason, the Bears offered up full refunds for season ticket holders amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Now with the announcement that there will be no season tickets, the team announced that all season ticket holders will receive a refund or their 2020 payments can be credited to the 2021 season.

Bears offering season-ticket holders full refund for 2020 season

The Chicago Bears sent a letter to season-ticket holders Monday regarding the possibility of games being played at Soldier Field.

With the uncertainty surrounding the 2020 NFL season amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Chicago Bears sent a letter to season-ticket holders Monday regarding the possibility of games being played at Soldier Field.

In the letter, the Bears offer season-ticket holders the option of a full refund for the 2020 season, while still being able to renew their season tickets in 2021. But they’re not ruling out having fans in the stands this season.

“The presence of and the exact number of fans that will be allowed into Soldier Field has not yet been determined,” the Bears said, via the Chicago Tribune. “Our hope is to build a model that provides the opportunity to see the Bears play this fall to as many Season Ticket Holders as possible. We will communicate your options as soon as a plan is finalized.

“Given all of the current uncertainties, we want to inform you that one option will be to provide you a full refund for the 2020 season while still retaining your ability to renew your season tickets in 2021 in your same seat location.”

At this point, just having football would be considered a win, even if fans won’t be in attendance. But the Bears remain optimistic that they’ll have some fans in attendance at Soldier Field this season.
