Where the Bears are projected to pick in 2024 NFL draft after Week 16

Here’s where the Bears are slated to pick with both first round selections in the 2024 NFL draft after Week 16 action.

The Chicago Bears secured a win over the Arizona Cardinals on Christmas Eve, where they doubled their win total from a season ago.

So how did Chicago’s recent win impact their draft positioning heading into the final two weeks?

Following Sunday’s action, the Bears currently hold two of the top eight picks in the 2024 NFL draft, according to Tankathon.

The Carolina Panthers’ first-round pick, which belongs to Chicago, remains No. 1 overall after the team lost their 13th game of the season (courtesy of the rival Green Bay Packers). Meanwhile, the Bears’ selection is now eighth overall after they won their sixth game of the season and subsequent results this weekend.

  1. Bears (via Panthers, 2-13)
  2. Cardinals (3-12)
  3. Commanders (4-11)
  4. Patriots (4-11)
  5. Giants (5-10)
  6. Chargers (5-10)
  7. Titans (5-10)
  8. Bears (6-9)

There are plenty of questions surrounding the Bears with the final two games on deck, including the future of quarterback Justin Fields. If Chicago manages to snag the top selection in the draft, general manager Ryan Poles will need to determine whether any quarterback in the 2024 class blows him away or if the Bears will stick with Fields, who’s entering the final year of his rookie deal (and the fifth-year option is still in play). Trading back from a top draft spot isn’t out of the question either.

The Bears are just one Panthers loss away from securing the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft for the second consecutive season. Carolina faces the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team contending for a playoff spot, on New Year’s Eve.

Updated 2024 NFL draft order after Week 16

Here’s a look at the updated 2024 NFL draft order following Week 16 action:

Week 16 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books, which featured another thrilling slate of action. While there’s still two weeks left in the regular season, we’re starting to get a look at what the top of the draft order will look like.

Fans of the Bears, Cardinals and Commanders should be excited as their teams look to lock down a top-three selection. Meanwhile, fans of the Panthers aren’t sitting pretty as they’ve already dealt their 2024 first-round selection to the Bears, who are currently slotted to have the No. 1 selection.

Where the Bears are projected to pick in 2024 NFL draft after Week 8

Here’s where the Bears are slated to pick with both first round selections in the 2024 NFL draft after Week 8 action.

The Chicago Bears were dominated by the Los Angeles Chargers, 30-13, on Sunday Night Football, which sent Chicago to its 16th loss in the last 18 games.

So what does a loss mean for the Bears’ current draft hopes?

Following Sunday’s win, the Bears currently hold the two of the top three picks in the 2024 NFL draft, according to Tankathon.

The Carolina Panthers’ first-round pick, which belongs to Chicago, has dropped to No. 2 overall after the team recorded their first win of the season. Meanwhile, the Bears’ selection remains the third overall pick after Chicago’s loss to the Chargers.

  1. Cardinals (1-6)
  2. Bears (via Panthers, 1-6)
  3. Bears (2-6)
  4. Giants (2-6)
  5. Patriots (2-6)

There’s still a lot of season left to be played, and Chicago landing the No. 1 pick is far from a certainty, as we’re seeing. If they do secure the top selection, general manager Ryan Poles will have an important decision to make — trade it and stick with Justin Fields or use the pick on a quarterback. But that decision is far down the road, especially as other positional concerns continue to rear their ugly heads.

The Panthers are one of a pair of one-win teams, alongside the Arizona Cardinals. For what it’s worth, Carolina hosts the Indianapolis Colts while Arizona faces the Cleveland Browns in Week 9. Something to monitor at the halfway mark of the season.

While the Detroit Lions (5-2) and Las Vegas Raiders (3-4) don’t play until Monday night, Chicago’s draft positioning won’t be impacted be either result (even after the Bears defeated the Raiders in Week 7).

The Chicago Bears will pick 20th in the 2021 NFL Draft

With their wild-card playoff loss, the Chicago Bears locked up the No. 20 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

For the first time in three years, the Chicago Bears will have their first-round draft pick. And following Chicago’s postseason exit, it’s never too soon to look toward to the future.

With their 21-9 loss to the New Orleans Saints in the wild-card round, the Bears locked up the No. 20 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The last time the Bears held the 20th pick in the NFL draft, they selected offensive lineman Kyle Long in 2013.

It isn’t exactly ideal given Chicago’s need at several positions, including quarterback, offensive line and wide receiver. But quarterback will be the biggest topic of conversation with just Nick Foles under contract currently in 2021.

There are realistically six top quarterbacks — Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Mac Jones and Kyle Trask — that should go off the board well before Chicago’s selection, which leaves the Bears in quite a conundrum at quarterback. They could stick with Foles, re-sign Mitchell Trubisky to a one or two-year deal or add a free agent and draft a quarterback to develop.

With less than four months until the 2021 NFL Draft, there will be plenty for Ryan Pace to consider — that is, assuming he remains the Bears’ general manager.

The 2021 NFL Draft will take place in Cleveland, Ohio, from April 29-May 1.

2021 NFL Draft: Here’s where the Bears pick heading into Week 17

With Sunday’s win over the Jaguars, the Bears’ draft pick dropped to No. 20 overall, which isn’t ideal.

After losing six straight games, the Chicago Bears have put together a three-game win streak that has them in the thick of the NFC playoff race. In fact, the Bears are just one win — or an Arizona Cardinals loss — away from locking up a postseason berth.

No one should complain about their team making the playoffs, but there’s no denying that as Chicago has stacked together some wins that their draft positioning has dipped with each passing week. At one point, the Bears were close to a Top 10 draft pick. Now, they’re stuck in limbo.

With Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Bears’ draft pick dropped from No. 16 to No. 20 overall, which isn’t ideal.

There are a lot of questions surrounding the future of this Bears team, starting at quarterback. There are realistically six top quarterbacks — Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Mac Jones and Kyle Trask — that should go off the board well before Chicago’s selection, wherever that winds up being.

That means they’d likely be drafting a developmental guy, which means it would make complete sense to bring quarterback Mitchell Trubisky back on a short-term deal to serve as a bridge quarterback.

We’ll see where the Bears’ draft selection winds up being, perhaps as early as next Sunday.

Bears own No. 43 and No. 50 picks in the 2020 NFL Draft

Following Week 17’s games, the 2020 NFL Draft order was finalized for all non-playoff teams, including the 8-8 Bears.

The Chicago Bears’ disappointing 2019 season has come to an end, and now the Bears are on the clock for what’s an important offseason.

Following Week 17’s games, the 2020 NFL Draft order was finalized for all non-playoff teams, including the 8-8 Bears.

While the Bears don’t have a first-round pick for the second straight season, as a result of the Khalil Mack trade, they do have two second-round selections this season.

With the Bears beating the Minnesota Vikings and the Oakland Raiders losing to the Denver Broncos in their season finales, Chicago officially owns the No. 43 and No. 50 picks in the 2020 NFL Draft.

There are many needs that the Bears need to address this offseason, be it during free agency or the NFL Draft, including tight end, cornerback, edge rusher, offensive line and quarterback.
