Is Joe Mazzulla the right coach for the Boston Celtics to win Banner 18?

He’s been everything Boston has needed so far — but is he enough?

From the unfortunate events sparked by former Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka to the present, Joe Mazzulla has been exactly the coach the Celtics needed.

Now, with the interim tag removed and his body of work speaking well of his tenure in Boston thus far, the elephant in the room for every Celtics coach becomes impossible to ignore: Is he good enough to get the Celtics their next title?

The elusive Banner 18 has never looked closer than right now, and the star-studded roster that also, somehow, has significant depth appears capable of winning it all with the right leadership. Is Mazzulla the guy for the job?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “A List” podcast recently debated this topic.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say on this most important of subjects to Celtics fans.

Celtics Lab 120: Recapping Boston’s big Game 3 win over the Golden State Warriors

The Celtics are now two wins away from Banner 18.

After an impressive Game 3 win over the Golden State Warriors on their home court of TD Garden on Wednesday night, the Boston Celtics now find themselves just two wins away from hanging Banner 18.

How did it happen? Who stepped up and took care of business? What didn’t go quite right despite the win? What did the Warriors do differently, and how did Boston respond? And more important than all of that, how are we feeling about being in the driver’s seat with both teams now having a potential two games left in the season with a 2-1 series lead?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast did a postgame recap to get some feedback from a massive win into your earholes faster, and with how palpable winning the title has become with the win, we can’t wait for Game 4 to get here to see how the rest of the series plays out.

Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown says Banner 18 ‘on its way’

Boston Celtics fourth-year guard Jaylen Brown made a bold prediction Monday.

You can’t blame shooting guard Jaylen Brown for his optimistic view of the future.

Boston Celtics big man Tacko Fall and the Cal-Berkeley product guest hosted the NBA’s Instagram account as part of the league’s “NBA Together” coronavirus campaign Monday, answering questions from fans.

The topic of championships is never far off for Celtics fans, so the question of when Boston’s next would come inevitably arrived — though this question came from Fall, not a fan.

“Banner 18;” asked the Senegalese center with a grin on his face, “when’s it coming?”

“It’s on the way. It’s in the works,” Brown replied (via Forbes’ Chris Grenham).

“We’ve got to earn it, and we’ve got to keep working. We’ve got to take care of the little stuff. Everybody on the Celtics that’s watching, we’ve got to keep working. Celtics nation, I appreciate y’all’s love and support. Banner 18 is on the way.”

Whether that banner comes in the resumption of the currently-suspended 2019-20 NBA season or beyond remains to be seen, but the unbridled enthusiasm of this duo was infectious in an otherwise-somber moment.

While it’s more likely than not it’ll be a bit of a wait no matter how long it takes to get past the pandemic, with this kind of buy-in from the top to the bottom of the roster, you have to like Boston’s chances.
