Analyzing Tuesday’s Baltimore Orioles at St. Louis Cardinals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Baltimore Orioles (29-16) take on the St. Louis Cardinals (21-26) Tuesday in the 2nd game of a 3-game set at Busch Stadium at 7:45 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Orioles vs. Cardinals odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Cardinals lead 1-0

The O’s were throttled Monday night in a 6-3 loss. They scored 3 runs, but they reached on 2 consecutive Cardinals errors before SS Gunnar Henderson hit a 3-run homer in the 6th inning. That was just 1 of 3 hits for Baltimore in the game. The O’s are still 6-4 over their last 10 games and sit 2 games behind the New York Yankees in the AL East.

The Cardinals had traffic on the bases early with runners on 1st and 2nd, no outs, and the heart of the order up in the 1st inning. The result was pop out, fly out (runner advanced to 3rd base) and fly out. They do this all the time, but things changed in the 4th when CF Michael Siani received a gift. What should have been called strike 3 was ruled a ball to keep him alive in the at-bat. The end result was a 3-run homer. In any event, the Cards are 6-2 in their last 8 games and averaging 6.1 runs per game during the stretch.

Orioles at Cardinals projected starters

RHP Kyle Bradish vs. RHP Lance Lynn

Bradish (0-0, 2.63 ERA) makes his 4th start. He has a 1.32 WHIP, 4.0 BB/9 and 11.2 K/9 in 13 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 3 K in 3-2 home win vs. Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday
  • Career vs. Cardinals: 1-0, 1 start, 7 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 0 BB, 11 K in 5-3 road win in 2022

Lynn (1-2, 4.17 ERA) makes his 10th start. He has a 1.48 WHIP, 4.0 BB/9 and 8.5 K/9 in 45 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 4 ER, 8 H, 2 BB, 5 K in 7-2 setback at Los Angeles Angels Wednesday
  • Last 5 starts vs. Orioles: 2-1, 2.51 ERA (28 2/3 IP, 8 ER), 1.08 WHIP, 30 K

Orioles at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Orioles 7, Cardinals 3

Moneyline

Bradish has been fantastic in his 3 starts, allowing just 4 earned runs and striking out 17 in 13 2/3 IP. He was electric in his lone start against St. Louis 2 years ago. The Cards had a little luck on their side to take Monday’s opener, but the O’s should be in the driver’s seat throughout Game 2. Lynn has allowed at least 4 earned runs in 3 straight starts and has walked 2+ in 5 straight.

Take ORIOLES (-155).

Run line/Against the spread

We’re projecting the O’s to cruise here, but the ball has been flying in Busch Stadium. Bradish is also only going 85ish pitches over 5 innings. So, you can take this if you choose. I’m in the long game, and I want more than +105 to incur that risk.

Something that stands out to me, though, is KYLE BRADISH UNDER 2.5 WALKS (-175) — the juice climbed from -155 early Tuesday. He has walked 2 in all 3 of his starts, but he hasn’t walked 3 in a game in his last 8, dating back to last year.

Over/Under

As mentioned, the Cards are scoring 6.1 runs per game over the last 8. Lynn has also allowed at least 4 in his last 3 starts. The Cards are 9-1 O/U in their last 10, and the O’s are 6-3-1 O/U.

What pushes this over the top, though, is it’s slated to be 89 degrees with an 18-mph gust of wind blowing out to left-center. Righties are going to tee off Tuesday night.

Take OVER 9 (-110).

Baltimore Orioles at St. Louis Cardinals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Baltimore Orioles at St. Louis Cardinals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Baltimore Orioles (29-15) and St. Louis Cardinals (20-26) open a 3-game series Monday night. First pitch at Busch Stadium is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Orioles vs. Cardinals odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Cardinals won 2-1 last season

RHP Corbin Burnes recorded a 5th consecutive quality start and finally got some run support as Baltimore defeated Seattle 6-3 Sunday, cashing as a (-141) home favorite. Burnes, who has the 2nd-shortest odds (+350 at FanDuel Sportsbook) to win the AL Cy Young behind Tigers LHP Tarik Skubal, tied a season high with 11 K’s.

The Cardinals failed to cash as a (+116) home underdog Sunday, falling 11-3 to the Red Sox. St. Louis had won 5 of their previous 6 games prior, and LF Brendan Donovan is currently riding a 7-game hit streak.

Orioles at Nationals projected starters

RHP Dean Kremer vs. RHP Sonny Gray

Kremer (3-3, 3.72 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.02 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 9.2 K/9 in 46 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 3 ER, 4 H, 4 BB, 10 K in 9-2 defeat vs. Arizona May 12
  • His 1.8 HR/9 is 2nd-highest in AL among qualified pitchers behind only White Sox RHP Michael Soroka (1.9)

Gray (5-2, 3.05 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.06 WHIP, 1.7 BB/9 and 11.5 K/9 in 41 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 5 ER, 8 H, 2 BB, 9 K in 7-6 victory at Angels May 14
  • His K/9 is 5th-best among 108 pitchers with at least 40 IP this season

Orioles at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Orioles 5, Cardinals 3

Moneyline

BET ORIOLES FIRST 5 INNINGS (+114).

Why not take the extra profit? Plus, you can get your money back if it’s a tie after 5 innings. Gray was unable to defeat Baltimore in either of his outings against it last season as a member of the Twins, and Orioles SS Gunnar Henderson leads MLB (along with Astros RF Kyle Tucker) in home runs this season.

Run line/Against the spread

BACK BALTIMORE -1.5 (+164).

Henderson homered in 3 straight games against the Mariners over the weekend, and the 22-year-old enters Monday with the 4th-shortest odds to win AL MVP (+550 at FanDuel Sportsbook). As a team, the Orioles lead the league in HRs along with the Yankees (68), while only the Brewers and Marlins bullpens have served up more dongs than the Cardinals pen (20).

St. Louis may be able to hang tight in the early innings as the O’s get their footing on this 7-game road trip, but Baltimore is a World Series contender and should pull away late. In this instance, taking a shot on laying a run and a half is worth it.

Over/Under

PASS.

Tough to recommend an Under with Kremer pitching, especially since he allowed 5 runs in 4 1/3 innings last season vs. the Cardinals. However, Baltimore’s offense put up 11 runs in a winning effort in that September game, and it is still certainly capable of supporting its pitcher if he stumbles once again.
