Wisconsin football 2024 schedule considered to be among toughest in Big Ten

Wisconsin football schedule considered be in top-5 toughest in Big Ten

The Wisconsin Badgers will begin their 2024 season on Friday, Aug. 30 at home against Western Michigan, beginning what is considered to be one of the toughest schedules in the Big Ten.

Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports ranked all of the schedules in the Big Ten this season. He listed Wisconsin’s 2024 slate as the fourth-toughest of the 18 teams in the conference this year.

Only UCLA, Purdue and USC were picked to have a harder path in 2024 — two of which are newcomers to the conference this season.

The Badgers will face contenders including Alabama (home), USC (road), Penn State (home) and Oregon (home), as well as other typical Big Ten opponents like Iowa (road) and Nebraska (road) this year.

Luke Fickell and his staff are entering year two in Madison, looking to build off of a 2023 campaign where they finished 7-6, losing to LSU 35-31 in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

The Badgers will begin their training camp at UW-Platteville on Tuesday, ramping up their activity with one month to go before the regular season opener.

Wisconsin currently a massive underdog against LSU

The Badgers are set to take on LSU

The Wisconsin Badgers are coming into the ReliaQuest Bowl as massive underdogs according to the odds across the board. According to a number of sportsbooks, the Badgers are ten-point underdogs against LSU in Florida on New Year’s Day.

LSU’s offense has been the story, naturally, as they have the Heisman winner in Jayden Daniels. Daniels, however, will be sitting out the bowl game in preparation for the next stage of his football career. Garrett Nussmeier will instead be a double-digit favorite in his first career start for LSU.

LSU also has a pair of new play callers in the bowl game. Unlike LSU, Wisconsin will have their starting quarterback available and playing in Tanner Mordecai.

The matchup is set for ESPN2 on New Year’s Day.

Hayer is a four-star prospect who is the No. 2 player in Washington DC for the class of 2025. He holds offers from the likes of Penn State, Boston College, and Maryland among others.

A Wisconsin defensive lineman is on the move in the transfer portal

A Wisconsin DL is on the move

Wisconsin defensive lineman Rodas Johnson is officially in the transfer portal. The Badger senior was a mainstay for the Badgers over the past four seasons, as he played in 38 games and finished his Wisconsin career with 50 total tackles, including ten tackles for loss.

Johnson was an important piece of the 2023 Badgers, as he had 19 tackles and a trio of them were for a loss. We are now up to eight Badgers who have entered the portal as quarterback Myles Burkett, offensive lineman Dylan Barrett and Trey Wedig, wide receivers Chimere Dike and Skyler Bell, and linebackers Jordan Mayer and Jordan Turner have all put their name in the ring.

Johnson made sure to correct the NCAA Transfer Portal account for Rivals so who had him listed as a linebacker, because he indeed will be transferring to play defensive line.

Relive the Badgers bringing The Axe home

Wisconsin brought Paul Bunyan’s Axe home this past weekend as they used a dominant second half to take down Minnesota 28-14.

In his final Battle for the Axe as a Badger, Braelon Allen starred on his way to 165 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns. Allen’s third-quarter four-yard touchdown scamper gave the Badgers a lead they would never give up.

Wisconsin’s fantastic video team put together a video to help us relive the rivalry win that saw The Axe end up back where it belongs. Watch Wisconsin sink the boat and come out of Minnesota with a crucial win to end the season on a high note:

Five takeaways from Wisconsin’s 35-14 win over Georgia Southern

The Badgers overcome a tough first half at home

It was a tale of two halves, as all three games of the year have been so far, for Wisconsin football in their 35-14 win over Georgia Southern (2-1). The Badgers (2-1) started slow and it despite three first-half interceptions thrown by Georgia Southern quarterback Davis Brin, the teams went into the locker room tied at 7.

It wasn’t until Wisconsin fell down 14-7 early in the second half that the Badger offense woke up with a five-play, 58-yard drive spurred by Braelon Allen early in the third quarter.

From there, it was the Wisconsin defense forcing another trio of turnovers that sealed what ended up being a comfortable win. It certainly wasn’t a full, four-quarter performance that will ease Badger fans after a loss to Washington State. Here are ten takeaways from the win:
