These three targets will be in attendance for Florida vs. Alabama

Florida is inviting lots of recruits to the Alabama game. Here’s an update on three of them.

When Alabama comes to Gainesville on Sept. 18 the Gators will be hosting some of the team’s top recruiting targets. Florida football fans received an update on three prospects recently.

Four-star safety Azareyeh Thomas is one of the latest to confirm that he’ll be at the game, according to 247Sports. He named Florida in his top three in June along with LSU and Georgia Tech. The No. 89 overall prospect on the 247Sports Composite visited Georgia Tech last weekend.

After pushing back his commitment from a planned August decision, Thomas’ visit to Florida could play a huge role come commitment time.

Joining Thomas in attendance is Isaiah Bond, a four-star receiver that officially visited Alabama, Miami and Texas after committing to Florida.  This will be the second time he sees the Crimson Tide play this year, but he has recently restated that he’s fully committed to the Gators.

Three-star offensive tackle Ja’Kavion Nonar tweeted his invitation to the Alabama game with two sets of eye emojis as the caption. With the Gators missing out on a lot of their offensive line targets, Nonar’s name has quickly risen up the list in the last few months.

Nonar is ranked as the No. 125 offensive tackle nationally by 247Sports.

Gators target and elite 2022 athlete updates commitment timeline

The Gators will have to wait a bit longer to find out whether or not they won over the nation’s No. 4 athlete.

Florida made the top three for 2022 four-star athlete Azareyeh Thomas earlier in August but the Gators will have to wait until at least next month for a decision.

Thomas took to Twitter on Saturday announcing that he’d be making his decision soon but that he “will not be committing in August.” Florida landed in Thomas’ top three in July and attended the Friday Night Lights Camp to close the month out. The other programs bidding for his services are LSU and Georgia Tech (where Thomas’ brother Juanyeh plays). The Tigers sit as the current 247Sports crystal ball favorite but GatorsTerritory has Florida in the lead.

Thomas is an absolute animal on both defense and offense, but the Gators have cornerbacks coach Jules Montinar leading the recruiting effort. Thomas shut down four-star 2023 Gators commit Raymond Cottrell last season with ease and led his team into a deep playoff run. 247Sports rates him as the nation’s No. 89 recruit on its industry-generated composite list.

Florida has begun rebuilding their secondary for the future after last year’s disastrous season on defense. Thomas would be a main part of the rebuild after players such as Kaiir Elam and Jaydon Hill depart.

No official date is set, but the “soon” in Thomas’ tweet certainly hints at a September reveal.

This four-star defensive back logs another visit to Florida

Four-star Azareyeh Thomas made a second visit to the Swamp this summer. Florida is trying to make a last-minute push to land his pledge.

As four-star defensive back Azareyeh Thomas gets closer to his decision date, Florida, LSU and Georgia Tech continue to jockey for his pledge. The Gators made another push to land his commitment this past weekend. He logged his second visit to the Swamp this summer.

“To come back just feels great,” Thomas said, according to Swamp247. “It’s a real good atmosphere, and I still feel the same way about Florida. They are really at my top right now. So far, they have impressed me even more.”

Because he’s such a priority target for Florida, he didn’t need to work out at Friday Night Lights but elected to do so anyway. This gave him the chance to be coached by Florida cornerbacks coach Jules Montinar. He enjoyed this opportunity because he was able to get a feel for how he coaches.

Thomas recently trimmed his list down to the three schools mentioned previously, but the Gators and Tigers are viewed as the front runners for his pledge. Florida sits near the top for him because of how hard it has recruited him.

“To be honest, it’s just the consistency,” he said. “Coach Jules, coach (Dan) Mullen, they text me almost every day. I talk to coach Jules every day. So, I mean the consistency and I feel like they want me. I know they want me. So that is great as well.”

Thomas hopes to have a decision done sometime in the next month. He said he will rely on his gut to help him make his choice.

LSU makes 4-star athlete’s final three

LSU made the cut for this 4-star Florida native.

The football season may not be quite here yet for LSU, but if there’s one area the Tigers do well in year-round regardless of the time, it’s recruiting.

LSU recently made the final cut for four-star athlete Azareyeh Thomas, along with Georgia Tech and Florida.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder originally informed On3 Recruits of the narrowing of his decision.

Thomas, a native of Niceville, Florida, is currently ranked as a Top 105 player in the Class of 2022, is listed as the No. 4 athlete.

It will be interesting to see if Thomas picks LSU over these two other prestigious programs, especially considering one is not far from home.
From the sounds of it though, it seems that Thomas is high on the possibility of coming to LSU.
“My visit to LSU was great,” Thomas told 247Sports in the summer. “The coaches showed real genuine love and really I felt it. I could just feel it. They were always checking in on me, making sure I was enjoying my time. They were very energetic as well.”
Thomas also holds offers from the likes of Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Florida State, Maryland and several others.

Florida football still in the thick of it for this coveted 4-star recruit

Many recruiting experts pegged four-star defensive back Azareyeh Thomas to LSU after a strong visit. But Thomas said not so fast Friday.

The 247Sports crystal ball forecasts for four-star defensive back Azareyeh Thomas piled up in favor of the Tigers following his visit to LSU the weekend of June 18. It was a crushing blow for Florida because Thomas was considered one of its top targets in the secondary. However, the Niceville, Florida, native said not so fast this weekend when he spoke to reporters at The Opening Finals Friday.

“I feel pretty good about all of them,” Thomas said, according to 247Sports.com. I mean all three of them (LSU, Florida and Georgia Tech) showed me great love. So, I’m feeling pretty confident about all three of them.”

[exco_embed id=”e5869bc6-faf6-4b7a-8c06-b5610c96a8fe”]

Thomas added that he saw all the predictions that projected he would become another top defensive back for the Tigers. He said he stopped doing interviews about LSU because that will make people believe that is where he will end up, but honestly, he doesn’t know where he wants to go currently.

However, the reviews of his trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana were glowing.

“To be honest, when I got there it just felt different,” Thomas said. “The whole weekend the coaches were just showing me love and the energy was just so high. Just seeing the legacy with all the DBs that they have had there — it’s like legendary. I was just looking around, and I can definitely see myself playing there.”

Thomas said that the reports about Florida fading his recruitment aren’t accurate because they don’t know how he is really feeling. The Gators stuck out to him because of how they personalized everything on his visit.

He enjoyed breaking down film with Gators cornerbacks coach Jules Montinar. They featured plays of him and then some video of Florida’s current players.

However, Georgia Tech is also in the running for his pledge, too, because his older brother plays for the Yellow Jackets.

For Florida fans, this is great news because coach Dan Mullen and his staff still have a chance, but his trip to LSU was a huge success for the Tigers. The Gators need to get Thomas back on campus to make up some of that ground.

LSU poised to steal this coveted Florida football recruit

Thomas plans to make his commitment in August, so there’s still time for the Gators to reclaim their lead with him, but it looks like they need to brace for the news that he’s going to be playing in the Yellow and Purple instead of the Orange and Blue.

The main criticism levied against Florida head coach Dan Mullen is his underwhelming results in recruiting. It appears another piece of kindling is going to be added to that fire. One of the Gators’ highest priority recruiting targets, four-star wide receiver/defensive back Azareyeh Thomas, is on the verge of a commitment to LSU after a sparkling official visit with the team.

The Gators put on a good show for Thomas on his official visit in the Swamp in early June. He even named the program among his early leaders and said Florida had set the bar for future visits. Evidently, LSU cleared the bar, leading 247Sports to predict he will commit to play in Death Valley.

[exco_embed id=“e5869bc6-faf6-4b7a-8c06-b5610c96a8fe”]

“The time cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond spent with Thomas and his family all weekend spoke volumes,” wrote Shea Dixon of 247Sports. “Toss in that guys like Eli Ricks and Derek Stingley Jr. were asked to be around for the visit, and it’s clear the red carpet was rolled out. Now, we’re ready to make our predictions for LSU to reel him in. … He’s someone they liked a ton before the visit, and even more after having him in town.”

As for the reviews of LSU from Thomas himself, there was nary a pessimistic word in sight.

“The coaches showed real genuine love and really I felt it. I could just feel it. They were always checking in on me, making sure I was enjoying my time. (Ed Orgeron is) a very energetic coach, and I can tell he loves all his players from walk-ons to star players,” said Thomas.

This is very bad news for the Gators, who were making the multi-talented Floridian a priority in their recruiting and had impressed him early. Cornerbacks coach Jules Montinar has been giving him a lot of love, but it’s possible the team’s efforts were not enough.

It’s not the end of the world for Florida if Thomas lands with the Tigers. They are still involved with Kamari Wilson and Evan Stewart, who constitute the class of 2022’s top uncommitted recruits at each position Thomas plays.

Nothing can quite take away the sting of missing the mark after giving it your all, though, and a loss of momentum can be deadly in the world of recruiting. Thomas plans to make his commitment in August, so there’s still time for the Gators to reclaim their lead with him, but it looks like they need to brace for the news that he’s going to be playing in the Yellow and Purple instead of the Orange and Blue.

Oklahoma football has gotten themselves into the final eight schools in the running to land highly-touted four-star athlete Azareyeh Thomas out of Niceville High School in Niceville, Florida. The Sooners are the only Big 12 program to make the cut for the prospect located in the depths of SEC and ACC country.

Listed as an athlete by major recruiting services, Thomas is viewed as a defensive player at the next level in the secondary as either a corner back or a safety. His height and length make him a very difficult player to throw around, and he has the ball skills to make plays and force turnovers when opposing teams try him.
