Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (38-10-4) battle the Vegas Golden Knights (29-19-4) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Avalanche doubled up the Winnipeg Jets 6-3 in Denver Friday, nearly taking care of the Over on their own. Colorado has won four of their previous five outings, including a 2-0 win in Las Vegas Feb. 16.

The Golden Knights were on the short end of a 3-1 loss at the Arizona Coyotes Friday, and they’re just 1-4 across their last five outings as G Laurent Brossoit has struggled in between the pipes since G Robin Lehner went down with an upper-body injury after his Feb. 9 apperance.

  • Money line: Avalanche -150 (bet $150 to win $100) | Golden Knights +122 (bet $100 to win $122)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Avalanche -1.5 (+160) | Golden Knights +1.5 (-210)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -102 | U: -122)

Avalanche at Golden Knights projected goalies

Darcy Kuemper (25-6-2, 2.47 GAA, .919 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Logan Thompson (1-1-0, 2.07 GAA, .935 SV%)

Kuemper saw his four-start win streak snapped in Boston last time out on Monday when he allowed 5 goals on 45 shots. He just faced Vegas Feb.16 and turned aside all 29 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season.

Thompson may get his chance at a third start after Brossoit was in between the pipes Friday in the front end of the back-to-back. Thompson was sharp in San Jose last time out Sunday where he allowed just 1 goal on 36 shots for his first NHL victory.

Avalanche at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Golden Knights 2

Money line

The AVALANCHE (-150) are a good value on the road, especially since they’ll be up against the third-string goalie for the Golden Knights. Colorado’s offense has posted 11 goals across the past two games and has averaged 3.8 goals per game across the past four.

Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+160) is worth a roll of the dice on the puck line, as each of their last five victories have been by 2 or more goals, including a 2-0 win in Las Vegas last week. Look for Colorado to take down Vegas yet again at T-Mobile Arena. VGK isn’t the same team without its true No. 1 backstop in the blue ice.

Over/Under

The UNDER 6.5 (-122) is a little bit of a risky play, so tread lightly.

The Avalanche could potentially pile up plenty of offense against Thompson, but it’s unlikely the Golden Knights will be able to dent Kuemper’s twine very much. He has been on fire lately, save for his most recent showing in Beantown.

Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights Game 6 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights Game 6 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights play Game 6 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs second-round series Thursday. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Arena. Below, we analyze the Avalanche-Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Avalanche fired out to a 2-0 series lead, but they have dropped three in a row and now face an elimination game on The Strip in Las Vegas. Colorado was outscored 8-3 in Games 3 and 4 at T-Mobile Arena.

The Golden Knights were dusted 7-1 in Game 1 but fought hard in an overtime loss in Game 2 in Denver. They have since won three straight, outscoring the Avalanche 11-5 and pushing the favorites to the brink.

Avalanche at Golden Knights: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 6:08 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Avalanche +110 (bet $100 to win $110) | Golden Knights -135 (bet $135 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Avalanche +1.5 (-225) | Golden Knights -1.5 (+185)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Avalanche at Golden Knights: Projected starting goalies

Philipp Grubauer (30-9-1, 1.95 GAA, .922 SV%, 7 SO) vs. Marc-Andre Fleury (26-10-0, 1.98 GAA, .928 SV%, 6 SO). Stats from regular season.

Grubauer has allowed three or more goals in each of the past three games in this series, the first time he has let in three or more goals in three consecutive games since a four-game stretch last season (Oct. 14-21, 2019).

Fleury was rested in Game 1 after a grueling first-round, seven-game series against the Minnesota Wild. After VGK was pounded 7-1, Fleury was plugged back in to start Game 2.

He has allowed a total of eight goals across the past four outings, going 3-1 with a 1.98 GAA and .914 SV% in the series.

Avalanche at Golden Knights: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 2, Golden Knights 1

Money line (ML)

The AVALANCHE (+110) are a value play as slight underdogs on the road.

This team was expected to not only win this series, but it was among the favorites to win the Stanley Cup.

I think Colorado plays its best game since Game 1 in this one, forcing a Game 7 back in Denver.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Colorado +1.5 (-225) is a little too expensive for my liking, but win or lose, I think this is going to be a one-goal game, perhaps going to an overtime or two.

Colorado won’t go quietly to the handshake line, and I think it forces a Game 7. I prefer the money line here, but can’t blame you if you want a little insurance with the +1.5 spread.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-115) is the slam-dunk play on Thursday’s board. Both of these teams have high-octane offenses, but we have two Vezina Trophy finalists patrolling the creases.

We should see very few chances taken on both sides as Colorado is careful and calculated, trying to extend their season. Vegas will also play very safe, trying not to give the visitors any gifts.

Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Colorado Avalanche (36-13-4) visit the Vegas Golden Knights (39-13-2) Monday. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Arena. Below, we analyze the Avalanche-Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Avalanche swept a pair of road games against the Los Angeles Kings, winning both by a 3-2 count; they have won five of their last six games with a loss to the San Jose Sharks May 5. The last time they played Vegas at this venue was April 28 in a 5-2 loss.

The Golden Knights are on a three-game win streak since losing 6-5 to the Minnesota Wild May 3. They have rattled off seven consecutive wins on home ice since an April 3 setback, also against the Wild.

Avalanche at Golden Knights: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:25 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Avalanche -110 (bet $110 to win $100) | Golden Knights -105 (bet $105 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Avalanche -1.5 (+200) | Golden Knights +1.5 (-250)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Avalanche at Golden Knights: Projected starting goalies

Philipp Grubauer (28-9-1, 2.03 GAA, .919 SV%, 6 SO) vs. Robin Lehner (13-3-2, 2.30 GAA, .913 SV%, 1 SO)

Grubauer has had a Vezina Trophy-caliber season. He won last time out in Los Angeles, while turning aside 15 of 17 shots in a victory Friday, and he has won four of his past five starts. He is 3-2-1 with a 2.00 GAA and .926 SV% in six games against the Knights this season.

Lehner stopped 22 of the 25 shots he faced in a 4-3 overtime win against the St. Louis Blues Friday. That pumped the brakes on a two-game mini slide after a six-start win streak. He hasn’t faced Colorado this season.

Avalanche at Golden Knights: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Avalanche 2

Money line (ML)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-105) are the lean as short underdogs at T-Mobile Arena Monday night. Vegas won 43 of its last 59 games at home, and has won 39 of 54 games overall.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Golden Knights +1.5 (-250) will cost you two and a half times your potential return if you want a little insurance. That’s too costly, and it’s not necessary. Just play the home side straight up.

AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 6 (-120) is the lean here, as Grubauer and Lehner don’t often give up much.

While the Over is the dominant trend for the visitors, the Under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two sides.

Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Colorado Avalanche (7-3-1) will play for the first time since Feb. 2, when they open a four-game, home-and-home set against the Vegas Golden Knights (9-2-1) Sunday at T-Mobile Arena in Sin City. Puck drop is set for shortly after 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Avalanche-Golden Knights NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Golden Knights are 4-1-0 since emerging from a COVID-19-induced break of their own. They topped the San Jose Sharks 3-1 Saturday afternoon.

The Avs won two of three games against the Minnesota Wild before their break. D Samuel Girard and LW Gabriel Landeskog will remain sidelined Sunday while still in the league’s COVID protocols.

  • Money line: Avalanche -115 (bet $115 to win $100) | Golden Knights +100 (bet $100 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Avalanche -1.5 (+225) | Golden Knights +1.5 (-275)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Avalanche at Golden Knights: Projected starting goalies

Philipp Grubauer (7-2-0, .934 SV%, 1.67 GAA) vs. Oscar Dansk (2019-20 stats: 0-1-0, .838 SV%, 6.00 GAA)

Grubauer was riding a personal four-game win streak when the Avs’ schedule was put on pause last weekend. The veteran stopped 25 of 26 shots in his lone appearance against the Golden Knights last season.

Dansk, a second-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, is expected to make his first appearance of the season with veteran Marc-Andre Fleury playing Saturday and Robin Lehner still sidelined by an upper-body injury. He has appeared in five NHL games.

Avalanche at Golden Knights: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Avalanche 3

Money line (ML)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+100) are the play as even-money underdogs on home ice. The Avalanche are coming off a long pause and remain without a couple of key pieces, though they have a sizable advantage in the goaltending matchup.

The Avalanche lead the NHL with a 5-on-5 Corsi For rate of 56.63% but the Golden Knights are seventh at 52.52%. The teams are second and fifth, respectively, in full-strength scoring chances.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the puck line. Backing the Golden Knights to win outright as slight home underdogs is much more profitable than backing them with just a single goal of insurance in the event of a loss.

Colorado has the edge in both power-play and penalty-killing success. Even if the Knights are able to build a multi-goal lead, they’ll struggle to sustain it late in the game, especially with Dansk making a rare appearance in net.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 6 (-105) is the obvious play between these two West Division powerhouses. The alternate line of OVER 6.5 (+120) on the alternate line is the preferred and more profitable play while still needing a total of 7 goals scored for a winning ticket.
