Rutgers women’s swimming and diving adds former USA Swimming Scholastic All-American to 2028 class

Rutgers swimming and diving adds an eliete prospect.

Rutgers women’s swimming and diving had reason to celebrate on Thursday as they continued to add to their 2028 class. Former USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Ava Jurkiewicz officially announced that she will join Rutgers next fall. She is a breaststroke specialist who already has an impressive resume.

The Michigan athlete is a team captain at Northville High School and owns a Winter Juniors qualifying time in the 100m breast. In December, she recorded her highest finish in the 200 breast, ranking at 61, while her 100 breast landed her 68th at the Winter Juniors. However, her success does not stop there.

At the Michigan High School State Championships in the winter, Jurkiewicz showed why she is one of the best in her class. She advanced to finals in the 100 breast and 200 IM, claiming 6th and 8th place.

In the summer, she continued to impress at the Michigan Ultra Championship. Jurkiewicz finished second in the 100m breast and fourth in the 200m breast. With her in the mix, expectations for Rutgers have gotten higher.

While her collegiate debut is still months away, Jurkiewicz’s decision is exciting news for the Scarlet Knights.
