Rick Barnes and Tennessee offered a scholarship to 2025 prospect Shane Cherry on April 21.
Cherry is playing football for Austin-East High School in Knoxville, Tennessee during the 2023 campaign.
He served as Austin-East’s starting quarterback Friday in a 55-51 loss versus South-Doyle High School (Knoxville, Tennessee).
Cherry completed 12-of-22 passing attempts for 173 yards and one touchdown. He recorded 217 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 16 attempts.
During his sophomore season for basketball in 2022-23, Cherry recorded 28.1 points, 4.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game as a point guard.
He has basketball offers from the Vols, Penn State, Auburn, California, Georgia Tech and Tennessee State.
