Why Auburn Will Win

Is Lane Kiffin there yet?

Is he or isn’t he going to be the next Auburn head coach? At the very least that has turned into a nice distraction for an Auburn team that should be able to play loose and free in this.

No matter what, there’s going to be a big change after this. Either Auburn loses and the program’s new direction is underway, or it pulls this off and 1) it’s going bowling and 2) it means it beat Alabama.

The Tigers have been solid under interim head man and Tiger running back legend Cadillac Williams. They beat Texas A&M, held down the WKU high-powered passing attack in a 41-17 win, and they came into this with a rolling ground game that should be able to move a bit.

Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter each hit the 100-yard mark against the Hilltoppers making it three straight games – and four in the last five – with 250 rushing yards or more.

The Alabama run defense has been solid overall, but LSU, Ole Miss, and Tennessee were all able to crank up the production against it. Now it’s Auburn’s turn.

Why Alabama Will Win

It’s still crazy possible.

It would take a whole slew of things to happen, but Alabama still has a teeny tiny little bit of a shot at making the College Football Playo…

Okay, so that’s almost certainly not going to happen, but by any normal measure going 10-2 with a win over the arch-rival on the way to a New Year’s Six bowl is a great year. Of course, Alabama always expects more, but there’s still plenty to play for.

The offense should steadily be able to keep things moving. Auburn is bad on both sides of the line on third downs, the Tide defensive front should live in the backfield, and there isn’t enough coming from the Tiger passing game to be too worried about.

Week 13 College Football Schedule, Game Previews

What’s Going To Happen

Throw out the Austin Peay scrimmage of last week, and for the most part Alabama doesn’t have a problem with turnovers. It’s not going to give up enough mistakes for Auburn to take over and win this.

Even so, the Tigers will be strong for about 20 minutes as they hang around and make it a battle. The Alabama offense will take over with a few quick scoring drives and will coast from there.

It might not be a total wipeout – the Tide will pull away late – but it’ll be a strong, efficient finish to a rough regular season.

Takeaways from Auburn basketball vs Alabama

This was a MASSIVE win for the Tigers.

The officiating in the Southeastern Conference is straight-up embarrassing.

Auburn defeated No. 24 Alabama 81-77 to improve to 15-1 and 4-0 in SEC play. It was not easy, and it was due in part to the officiating. The SEC needs to fix it.

Auburn star Jabari Smith scored a career-high 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. He had 7 rebounds, an assist, and 4 blocks to go along with the points. He was huge for the Tigers in such a tough road environment.

Auburn is beginning to show signs of a championship-caliber team. Walker Kessler fouled out for the second straight game (again, bad officiating) and Dylan Cardwell filled in nicely for him (6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks). The depth on this team is insane.

Here are five takeaways from No. 4 Auburn’s win over Alabama.

An early look at Auburn’s 2022 football schedule

What do you think about Auburn’s 2022 schedule?

Year one of the Bryan Harsin era was a rollercoaster.

The Tigers finished 6-7 following a 6-2 start to the year. Injuries, blown leads, and inefficient offense eventually led to the team’s downfall.

This offseason, while some may have thought there would be fewer storylines than the offseason prior, Auburn will have plenty of new faces on both sides of the ball to talk about, including a new quarterback.

The schedule is interesting as well. Six straight home games to start off the year before things get rough in the SEC.

Here is an early look at what’s in store for the Auburn Tigers in 2022.

Five losers from Auburn vs Alabama

This one hurts.

It breaks my heart to see the game end the way that it ended.

Auburn fell in four overtimes to the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the hardest I have ever seen an Auburn team play. What Auburn put on the field was a display of heart, guts, and want-to.

I don’t cry often, but I have cried over two sporting events in my entire life. The first was the 2019 Auburn vs Virginia Final Four. That was warranted. The second was this game. I am so proud of the way this team played with the lack of expectations.

With that being said, here are five losers from Auburn vs Alabama.

Week 14 SEC Power Rankings: Alabama, Texas A&M fall

Alabama is about to get waxed in the SEC Championship Game.

Rivalry week will always be the best week in college football.

We were able to witness some incredible upsets and dramatic finishes not just in the SEC, but across the landscape. But the biggest game being the 24-22 4OT Alabama win in the Iron Bowl.

As a fan, it was a painful loss to witness, but the fight Auburn showed almost masks the final outcome of the game. Incredibly impressive stuff from Auburn.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M choked and LSU is now bowl eligible. Florida beat Florida State to do the same.

Here are the SEC Power Rankings heading into conference championships.

Halftime takeaways from Auburn vs Alabama

Strong first half!

This is not where I expected the game to be at the end of the half.

Auburn is currently leading the No. 3 Crimson Tide 7-0 after two quarters.

The defense had played out of its mind so far, holding the best scoring offense in the SEC to zero points. Alabama has 68 total yards. I’m completely blown away by the way the Tigers have played so far. It appears that Derek Mason heard the complaints about not sending pressure. Auburn has lived in Alabama’s backfield so far.

Let’s see if the Tigers can somehow hold on.

Here are five takeaways from the first half.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will meet the Auburn Tigers in the Iron Bowl on Saturday afternoon from Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Alabama comes into this game with a 10-1 record on the season as well as a five-game winning streak after knocking off Arkansas last week. As for Auburn, they are on a three-game slide after losing to South Carolina last week and will look to snap that when they take the field today.

As always this will be a great matchup, here is everything you need to know to watch and stream the action.

Auburn to wear orange facemasks again vs Alabama

Auburn is bringing the orange facemasks back!

The orange facemasks are back for Auburn.

After breaking the facemasks out vs Ole Miss for the first time since 1984, Auburn is bringing them back for the Iron Bowl, according to Auburn Uniforms.

Earlier this season Auburn wore white facemasks for the annual Penn State ‘whiteout’ game. Much like the first two times Auburn made a uniform change this season, it appears to be a recruiting pitch with all of the huge visits coming for the Tigers this weekend. Harsin seems to have an infatuation with changing up the uniforms.

The Tigers and Crimson Tide will play Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.
