Cam Coleman poised to make an immediate impact at Auburn

Manny Navarro of The Athletic believes that Coleman will quickly turn heads as a true freshman.

Auburn football hopes to make great offensive strides in 2024, and true freshman [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag] could be a main component in its progression.

Writers at The Athletic recently shared their thoughts on the 2024 SEC recruiting haul, and which players could turn heads quickly. When asked to reveal his pick for the player who could make the biggest impact, Manny Navarro chose Auburn’s top signee.

I wanted to go with (Ryan) Williams at Alabama because of the Crimson Tide’s need for help at the position, but he’s not enrolling until this summer. So, I’m going with another five-star receiver already on campus: Auburn’s Cam Coleman. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Phenix City, Ala., native could quickly become Payton Thorne’s favorite target this coming season as the Tigers look to open up the offense under new coordinator Derrick Nix, who helped run a top-20 scoring and passing offense at Ole Miss last season.

Grace Raynor feels that Coleman will also have a great season, citing his performance during Under Armour All-American practices. Raynor ultimately chose Tennessee‘s Mike Matthews while Ari Wasserman is expecting Texas‘ Ryan Wingo to make the biggest impact in the SEC.

Coleman signed with Auburn as the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2024 class and as the top recruit from the state of Alabama from nearby Phenix City. He, along with [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag], [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag], and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag] make up the top wide receiver signing class in Auburn history.

Auburn becomes overwhelming favorite to land 2025 OT Tavaris Dice

Auburn’s chances of landing the four-star OL from Georgia are growing.

Auburn’s chances of landing a talented offensive lineman for its 2025 haul continue to grow.

Earlier this month, Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover submitted a “crystal ball prediction” in favor of Auburn to land four-star OT [autotag]Tavaris Dice[/autotag] with medium confidence. Anna Adams, a recruiting analyst for 247Sports, shares the same sentiment, as she has also given Auburn a “crystal ball” to earn the signature of the Georgia product.

In a recent interview with Auburn Undercover, Dice tells Christian Clemente ($) that Auburn’s message is to keep “doing what you are doing.”

“Come up there, do what I’ve got to do,” Dice said. “And — no coach is ever going to tell you that you’re going to start, he’d really just lie to you — but if I go up there and keep doing what I’ve been doing, keep grinding, keep getting big, go up there and ball out in practice, I’d have a really good chance to start as a freshman.”

Dice is rated as a four-star OT by 247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN, and is a three-star by On3 from Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia. He is the No. 22 OT for the 2025 class according to 247Sports, and is the No. 32 overall player from the state of Georgia. On3 feels strongly that Auburn can land Dice as well, as they have given Auburn a 93.3% chance to earn his commitment via the Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Auburn in battle with ACC program for four-star RB Alvin Henderson

Henderson has been high on Auburn’s radar for some time. Can Hugh Freeze and staff keep this talented running back in-state?

Four-star running back [autotag]Alvin Henderson[/autotag] has been high on Auburn’s radar for quite some time. Now, they will have to battle an ACC program to keep him in state.

Henderson recently talked with Chad Simmons of On3 about his recruitment ahead of spring practices, and he says that Auburn and Florida State are the two schools that are recruiting him the hardest.

Henderson developed a strong relationship with former running backs coach [autotag]Cadillac Williams[/autotag], has his thoughts on Auburn changed since Williams’ departure? He tells Simmons that he has worked to build a relationship with new offensive coordinator/running backs coach Derrick Nix. From the day Nix was hired, he has emphasized just how important Henderson is to the 2025 recruiting haul.

“Coach Nix was like, ‘You’re Coach Freeze’s No. 1 priority and he told me day one that we have to get you,’” Henderson said. “Ever since coach Nix came to Auburn, our relationship has been tight. I went up there and took a visit and he showed me how he wants to use me.”

However, stability is important to Henderson. Henderson wants to play for a program that will have consistency within its staff during his time on campus.

“One of the main things that is going to separate any school in my recruitment is somewhere where the coaching staff and my position coach will be stable,” Henderson said. “I am also looking for somewhere where I’ll be able to engage with a head coach who pays close attention to the running back position and be successful and win on and off the field. Also, I want to go somewhere where me and my mom feel like home.”

Florida State holds the edge over Auburn currently, as Henderson has called the Seminoles a “no. 1 school for him.” He also plans to announce his commitment this summer.

Woods has been high on the radars of Hugh Freeze and QB coach Kent Austin for several years.

Three-star quarterback [autotag]Cutter Woods[/autotag] has racked up several Power Five offers recently, most recently earning one from Auburn.

The Anderson, South Carolina native added three offers to his list this week. One of those offers was from Auburn, his first from an SEC program.

The Auburn offer was a long time coming, but it was not a surprise. Auburn quarterback coach [autotag]Kent Austin[/autotag] began developing a relationship with Woods during his time at Liberty, and he has worked to continue the bond now as the Tigers quarterbacks coach.

“Spent the night and my family went to church Sunday in Auburn, really liked that. Town in general is really cool,” Woods said in an interview with 247Sports. “I met Coach (Hugh) Freeze and Coach (Kent) Austin at Liberty a few years back. So we’ve had a good relationship for awhile. Have a lot of respect for Coach Austin, we’ve kept in touch and he’s been great to keep that going.”

Woods has thrown for over 3,000 yards in each of the last two seasons at Westside High School in Anderson, South Carolina, and has tallied 70 passing touchdowns in that time frame. The 2023 season was his best yet, when he passed for 3,915 yards and 42 touchdowns in a state championship-winning season. On the ground, he rushed for 345 yards and five touchdowns.

In the South Carolina class AAAA state championship game against South Florence, Woods passed for 248 yards and two touchdowns in Westside’s 34-32 win. Westside overcame a 20-7 first quarter deficit to pull out the victory.
