Five-star guard Meleek Thomas recaps recent visit to Auburn

Auburn pitched its desire to win to Thomas during a recent visit.

Auburn basketball has had success reeling in top guards such as [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag] and [autotag]Tahaad Pettiford[/autotag] in recent years and is looking to continue the trend in 2025.

[autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and his coaching staff recently hosted five-star guard [autotag]Meleek Thomas[/autotag] for an official visit, a visit that was deemed enjoyable. In a recent interview, Thomas tells Jamie Shaw of On3 that Auburn’s pitch was centered on its desire to win.

“Everything flowed when I was there. No one got mad at anyone and everyone seemed to get along off the court,” Thomas said. “The coaches are genuine. Coach (Bruce) Pearl just wants to win and that is the big thing for them. Coach Ira (Bowman) makes sure that I know that they just want to win there at Auburn.”

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Auburn trails Pittsburgh and Kentucky as the favorite to land Thomas at the time of this post. A Pittsburgh native, Thomas has already paid a visit to his hometown university and plans to check out Kansas, Illinois, Arkansas, and UConn before deciding on a new program to call home.

Thomas is the No. 7 overall recruit for the 2025 cycle according to On3, and the No. 3 shooting guard for the class, and the No. 1 overall prospect from Pennsylvania.

Son of Tigers’ football legend earns scholarship offer from Auburn

Ready to feel old?

Every college football fan remembers where they were the moment the infamous “kick six” occurred.

On November 30, 2013, at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, the Alabama Crimson Tide had one second remaining on the game clock after gaining a first down. In an effort to break a 28-28 tie, and win the game, Alabama head coach Nick Saban sent kicker Adam Griffith to kick a 56-yard field goal. His efforts fell short and into the hands of Auburn returner [autotag]Chris Davis[/autotag], who returned the kick 100 yards for a touchdown, giving the Tigers the 34-28 win.

Fast forward 11 years, and the Auburn legend’s son has the opportunity to continue his father’s legacy.

[autotag]CJ Davis[/autotag], a 2028 running back from Hewitt-Trussville High School in Trussville and the son of Auburn legend Chris Davis, shared on social media Tuesday that he has received an offer from his father’s alma mater. Davis shared the news of the offer by posting a photo of him and his father during the eldest Davis’ playing days at Auburn.

The rising 9th grader has yet to receive a ranking from recruiting outlets but is beginning to rack up offers. In addition to Auburn, Davis has earned offers from Arkansas, Florida State, and UCF, which is led by his father’s college head coach, [autotag]Gus Malzahn[/autotag].

Auburn target Travis Smith sets commitment date

Auburn is in the top-four for the 4-star wide receiver from Atlanta, Georgia.

One of Georgia’s top 2025 recruits has set his commitment date, and Auburn remains in the mix.

[autotag]Travis Smith[/autotag], a four-star wide receiver from Westlake High School in Atlanta, Georgia, has revealed his top four schools and has selected a commitment date. Smith will choose between Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee on July 13. Smith tells Chad Simmons of On3 that it is a part of his plan to commit to a program before his senior season.

Ahead of his summer visits, Smith says that each program in his top four has a chance to land him. He will visit Auburn during the weekend of June 7, one week after he makes a trip to home-state Georgia. He will visit Alabama on June 14 and Tennessee on June 21 before his July commitment date.

During a visit to Auburn in March, Smith says that the style of coaching that Auburn wide receiver coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] exhibits has caught his attention.

“I loved it,” Smith said in March. “The way those guys coach, it’s very high intensity, but graceful as well. Just seeing those guys, it was just back and forth with defense and offense. Seeing the way they compete.”

All major recruiting outlets rank Smith as a four-star wide receiver. He is the No. 10 wide receiver for the 2025 class according to On3, and the No. 11 overall recruit from Georgia.

Auburn lands commitment from 2025 3-star cornerback

Dante Core announced his pledge to Auburn during a weekend visit to campus.

Auburn football hosted a successful weekend visit with three-star cornerback [autotag]Dante Core[/autotag].

Core visited the Plains on Saturday alongside his family and departed as a member of Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class.

Core becomes the 11th member of Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class which ranks No. 11 in the nation, and joins four-star CB [autotag]Devin Williams[/autotag] as a defensive back to commit to this year’s class. Following his commitment, Core told On3 that Auburn’s culture placed them at the top of his list.

“You can most definitely feel it from the moment you step out of your car,” Core said in a recent interview with On3. “It’s really different, I don’t really know how to explain or describe it. But people who come to Auburn and visit Auburn — they see it. It’s just a great culture. Everyone’s positive, they all want to be heading in the right direction. There are great resources, just everything about it is great.”

Core is a three-star cornerback from Fort Walton Beach High School in Florida. According to 247Sports rankings, he is the No. 64 cornerback for the 2025 class, and is the No. 79 recruit from Florida. He chose Auburn over Ole Miss and Rutgers.

Four-star Alabama commit locks in official visit to Auburn

Auburn is looking to flip one of the state’s top recruits from the 2025 cycle.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the Auburn coaching staff have successfully recruited in-state talent as three of the state’s top 10 2025 recruits have pledged to the Tigers.

Auburn’s pursuit of the state’s top players continues as Alabama’s No. 7 recruit for the 2025 cycle has scheduled a summer visit to the Plains.

[autotag]Derick Smith[/autotag], a four-star wide receiver from Selma, tells On3 that he will visit Auburn the first weekend in June. Smith, an Alabama commitment, will visit Tuscaloosa a week before his Auburn visit on May 31.

Like so many other offensive recruits, Smith has developed a sturdy relationship with Auburn wide receivers coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag]. Smith tells On3’s Jeffrey Lee that Davis makes him feel like a priority.

“(Davis) wants me here bad. He wants me real bad,” Smith said in a March interview with On3. “We’re getting a real good connection with each other, the relationship getting stronger and stronger every time I visit.”

Smith is a four-star wide receiver and each recruiting outlet considers him a top-10 overall recruit from Alabama. Outside of his relationship with Davis, he says that Auburn’s recent haul of [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag] and [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag] sparks his interest in the Tigers.

Kentucky’s top 2025 recruit is considering Auburn ahead of commitment date

Four-star safety Martels Carter will choose between Auburn and three other programs later this month.

Auburn is in the mix to land Kentucky’s top 2025 recruit ahead of this month’s commitment date.

[autotag]Martels Carter[/autotag], a four-star safety from Paducah, Kentucky, is set to announce his commitment on May 25 with Auburn being one of four programs remaining in the hunt with just over a week remaining. Carter will choose between Auburn, Colorado, and in-state programs in Louisville and Kentucky.

Ahead of his commitment, Carter tells On3 that “any school can sneak in” but he is focused on the aforementioned programs ahead of next week’s commitment date. Regarding Auburn, he says that safeties coach [autotag]Charles Kelly[/autotag] and Auburn’s atmosphere keep them in the mix.

“I was his first stop,” Carter said of his March visit to Auburn. “(Kelly) spent the whole day with me, and that meant a lot to me. Coach Kelly, as a human being, I love him. As a coach, I respect him. I look up to him and see why people want to be coached by him. I also talk to Coach (Hugh) Freeze. He texts me and I talked to him. I definitely feel like a high priority for Auburn.”

If Carter were to choose another program other than Auburn, it does not mean that the Tigers are out of the race. Carter plans to visit the Plains twice in the coming months, once for Big Cat Weekend in July and once more for an official visit during the season.

Carter is the top recruit from Kentucky by all major recruiting outlets and is a top-25 overall safety, ranking as high as No. 8 by Rivals. Kentucky is the leader at this point but with two upcoming scheduled visits to Auburn, it is not too early to count Hugh Freeze and his staff out.

Auburn becomes leader to land 2025 three-star EDGE Herbert Scroggins

Scroggins will officially visit Auburn on Sept. 6, but the Tigers could land his commitment before then.

The summer months are creeping in, which means that the weather, and Auburn’s 2025 recruiting efforts, are beginning to heat up.

Several key names from the 2025 class are beginning to schedule official visits to the Plains while some are winding down their recruitment. One Auburn target, [autotag]Herbert Scroggins[/autotag], is starting to trend in the Tigers’ favor.

Scroggins, a three-star EDGE from Savannah, Georgia, has been high on Auburn’s radar for several months and has a great chance at earning his commitment. Ahead of the busy summer months, Cole Pinkston of On3 has submitted a prediction for Scroggins to commit to Auburn with 60% confidence.

Scroggins has scheduled an official visit to Auburn during the weekend of Sept. 6 for the Tigers’ nonconference game against California at Jordan-Hare Stadium. He visited Auburn last summer during Big Cat Weekend, and again in March. Auburn hopes to bring him in several times, including this year’s Big Cat Weekend, before his official visit this fall.

In a recent interview, Scroggins told Auburn Live that Auburn’s “family atmosphere” stands out most.

“The thing about it, like with Miami and these schools, it’s about the culture there,” Scroggins said in March. “You’re family, you know, they’re from the south, they roll out that red carpet so it’s like you’re just family with them. That’s what I love about Auburn.”

At this point in his recruitment, Scroggins is still flying under the radar. He has a three-star rating from 247Sports and Rivals but is unranked by On3 and ESPN. His luck could change soon due to his incredible junior season at Benedictine Military Academy. As an 11th grader in 2023, Scroggins recorded 84 tackles with 10 for loss, third-highest on the team. He played a key role in Benedictine’s state title appearance.

According to 247Sports, Scroggins is the No. 34 EDGE for the 2025 class and is the No. 43 player from Georgia. He has zero crystal balls in his favor at the time of this post but has a forecast of 95.5% to land at Auburn according to On3.

Three-star RB Daune Morris schedules official visit to Auburn

Morris, a USC pledge, will visit the same weekend as fellow Trojan commit Julian Lewis.

One of the nation’s top 2025 quarterbacks, USC commit [autotag]Julian Lewis[/autotag], announced Tuesday that he will visit Auburn officially during the weekend of June 14. Later that day, it was revealed that a fellow Trojan pledge would also be on the Plains the same weekend.

[autotag]Daune Morris[/autotag], a three-star running back from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, announced Tuesday that he will visit Auburn during the weekend of June 14-16. Outside of Auburn, Morris will also visit USC on the weekend of June 21.

Morris committed to USC on April 7, choosing the Trojans over Auburn, Colorado, Florida, and several others. Despite committing to USC over Auburn, the Tigers and Morris are not ready to officially end their relationship. During a recent visit to Auburn, Morris shared with Auburn Live that running backs coach [autotag]Derrick Nix[/autotag] is interested in Morris because of his versatility.

“(Nix’s) message is just letting me know that I’m a high-value guy to him. I’m the running back that he’s looking for. He really likes me,” Morris said. “He really likes that I’m versatile and likes me on and off the field. Coach Nix was just telling me that I’m the standard and that he wants me here.”

Morris is a three-star rated running back by On3, 247Sports, and ESPN, and is a four-star by Rivals’ standards. According to On3’s industry ranking, Morris is the No. 14 recruit from Tennessee for the 2025 cycle and is the No. 19 overall athlete.

Four-star Georgia commit schedules official visit to Auburn

Hugh Freeze continues his efforts to flip Jadon Perlotte from Georgia by bringing him in for a summer visit.

[autotag]Jadon Perlotte[/autotag] has been a Georgia pledge since December 2022, but Auburn has remained in the mix to flip him before signing day.

The four-star linebacker from Buford High School (Georgia) has scheduled several official visits this summer, and Auburn is included in the mix. Perlotte

Despite being committed to Georgia for over a year, Perlotte has been a frequent visitor to the Plains. Since April 2023, Perlotte has visited Auburn seven times, most recently stopping by on Feb. 4. Following his visit to Auburn for the Ole Miss game last October, Perlotte told On3 that he enjoys every visit to Auburn that he has made.

“I love it down here. I don’t come down here for no reason. I know I don’t tell a lot of people I’m coming down here. I try to stay on the low, but I come down here a lot,” Perlotte said. “Why wouldn’t you want to be here? They love you. Everybody does.”

In addition to his Auburn visit, Perlotte will also visit Alabama, Miami, Tennessee, and Georgia during the month of June. Perlotte is a four-star linebacker from the 2025 recruiting cycle. He is the No. 12 linebacker according to 247Sports, and is the No. 13 recruit from Georgia.
