Auburn offers 4-star safety committed to Big Ten program

It looks like Auburn will be battling on and off the field in this coming season.

[autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] and the rest of Auburn’s coaching staff are confident that they will be able to land multiple recruits who are committed elsewhere this cycle.

They have already done that once, flipping four-star edge Ashley Williams from Nebraska, and are heavily pursuing multiple prospects committed elsewhere. Well, they are now looking to flip another prospect after extending an offer to four-star safety [autotag]Conrad Hussey[/autotag] on Monday, who is committed to Penn State.

Auburn may have a couple of things going for them in their pursuit of Hussey, he is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Auburn is clearly closer to home. Another is that he was high school teammates with current Auburn wide receiver Camden Brown at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

Hussey is ranked as the No. 276 overall recruit and No. 25 safety in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 56 player from Florida.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Hussey was a ball hawk last season, recording four interceptions and returning a blocked field goal for a touchdown. He also made 26 tackles as he helped the Raiders win a state championship.

Flipping a player is always challenging, but if Auburn is able to get Hussey to the Plains for a visit it would seem to be a strong indicator that there is mutual interest.

Auburn makes final six for in-state 5-star DL

James Smith is one of Auburn’s top targets and would be a massive get for Bryan Harsin.

The state of Alabama is producing a historic amount of recruiting talent in the 2023 recruiting class and five-star defensive lineman [autotag]James Smith[/autotag] is the best player in the state.

Smith, who is from Montgomery, Alabama, included Auburn in his final six schools Friday. The Tigers will be battling Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and Alabama State for him.

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Smith took an official visit to Auburn on June 24, and has visited the campus multiple times. He is ranked as the No. 13 overall player and No. 2 defensive lineman in the 247Sports composite ranking.

Something to keep in mind with Smith is that he is a package deal with five-star edge rusher [autotag]Qua Russaw[/autotag], who announced his top six schools Friday as well. The two both play for Carver High School and plan to sign to the same school in December.

Landing these two would be massive for Auburn’s recruiting class which currently has six commits and is ranked last in the SEC. However, each of them is ranked as a four-star prospect.

2023 Prospects: Avery Stuart’s Recruiting Profile

Avery Stuart is deciding between Auburn, Florida State, and Kentucky.

Going into the 2022 football season, Auburn Wire will be looking at players that receive a scholarship offer from the Tigers.

Prior to national signing day, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rate them and what their role could be for Bryan Harsin.

Up next is four-star safety [autotag]Avery Stuart[/autotag]. Stuart included Auburn in his top three schools and is set to announce his commitment on July 6.

He is one of the best players in Alabama but Auburn may be hard-pressed to keep him in-state. Florida State is seen as the favorite for him but the Tigers have not given up yet.
