Auburn loses offensive lineman to injury for season

The Tigers will be without its starting lineman for the rest of the season.

Auburn has lost a starting offensive lineman for the season, Gus Malzahn announced on Sunday evening.

Brandon Council, who bounced between right and left guard this season, suffered a knee injury during the Tigers’ 35-28 victory over Ole Miss on Saturday.

A transfer from Akron, he had started all five games for Auburn so far this season. He was a three-year starter for the Zips from 2017-19.

Auburn’s offensive line, which had to replace four starters from last season, has gelled as of late especially with the running game. The Tigers rushed for 224 total yards on Saturday and were led by true freshman Tank Bigsby who finished with 129 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.
