First look: Auburn at Alabama odds and lines

Looking at Saturday’s Auburn at Alabama college football odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Auburn Tigers (5-6, 2-5 SEC) visit Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl against the 7th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (9-2, 5-2) Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we look at the Auburn vs. Alabama odds from Tipico Sportsbook; check back for all our college football picks and predictions.

Auburn, fresh off a 41-17 win against Western Kentucky, needs a win to become bowl eligible. It’s been a tumultuous season for the Tigers, one which started with boosters wanting coach Bryan Harsin fired. He was eventually let go halfway through the season and replaced by interim coach Cadillac Williams, who played for Auburn 2001-04.

Alabama also has had a down season based on its standards and preseason expectations. The Tide, the preseason favorite for the national championship, have lost 2 games and were almost beaten in 2 others. QB Bryce Young, last season’s Heisman Trophy winner, has willed this team to a 9-2 record and DE Will Anderson is still a beast. But the surrounding talent has been lacking for a normally loaded Alabama team and coach Nick Saban. With Young likely to declare for the NFL Draft after the season, this will be the last time home fans will have a chance to cheer him on as he leads the Tide to an Iron Bowl victory.

Auburn vs. Alabama head-to-head

Alabama leads the all-time series 48-37-1 and has won the past 2 games. This includes a 24-22 victory in 2021 in 4 overtimes.

Both teams come into this matchup hoping to avoid a letdown to finish disappointing seasons. Alabama still has an outside chance at a College Football Playoff berth with a victory — as if the Tide needed extra motivation in a rivalry game.

Meanwhile, Auburn will be playing for its interim coach, hoping to earn him the full-time gig. Williams is a figure who has become a rallying point for the Tigers late in the season. Although not likely to get the full-time job, Williams has managed everything thrown at him with class and has shown his determination to do whatever is needed to make Auburn the place to be. A win in this game for Auburn would do wonders for the Tigers morale.
