  • Chip Ganassi Racing driver Kurt Busch, in his 20th full season in the NASCAR Cup Series, has had a lot of success at this track. He has 30 career starts, picking up three wins, seven top-5 runs, 15 top-10 showings and 22 finishes of 20th or better while leading the pack for 804 laps.
  • Busch’s laps led is second-best to Stewart-Haas Racing driver Kevin Harvick, who has led 1,348 laps in his career in Atlanta.
  • Both Busch and Harvick lead all active drivers with three Cup wins in Atlanta, and they’re just two of four drivers in the field with multiple victories in Hampton. Kurt’s brother, Kyle Busch, and Penske driver Brad Keselowski have two wins apiece.

KYLE LARSON (+225) is the chalk for Sunday’s race, and he is an overwhelming favorite. There is very little money to be made there. Let’s think outside the box a little, and play some drivers with longer odds for a much larger payday.

As mentioned above, KURT BUSCH (+3300) has won at Atlanta three times during his Cup career, and he knows this track just about as well as anyone. The driver of the No. 1 Ganassi Chevy has seven top-5 runs in his 30 career Cup starts while leading 804 laps. He has four DNFs, which is also tied for the most of all active drivers.

ARIC ALMIROLA (+10000) has ridiculously long odds for a driver of his caliber, too. While this season hasn’t exactly gone according to plan for “The Cuban Missile”, he has two top-10 showings and 36 laps led in 11 career Cup starts in Atlanta while posting a 17.55 AFP.

He’s not a strong contender to pick up the checkered flag, but even just a $1 wager earns a $100 profit if he can somehow find a win.

2021 Quaker State 400: What you need to know

Positional bets for 2021 Quaker State 400

Chase Elliott Top-3 Finish (+200)

Elliott is an absolute slam-dunk play for a finish of third or better on his home track. Yes, there is some added internal pressure, and he has not yet won in six career Cup starts in Atlanta, but ELLIOTT (+200) TOP 3 FINISH is a great value for a chance to double up. Even ELLIOTT (+110) TOP 5 FINISH is plus-money, and worth a spin.

Kurt Busch Top-5 Finish  (+350)

The elder Busch brother has three-career victories at the venerable Georgia track, so a chance to more than triple up with a top-5 finish is a very attractive play.

Busch started 11th in the race in March, and ended up leading one lap while finishing fourth in the first stage. However, he was escorted into the wall at the start of Stage 2 by Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin, ending his day in disappointment at 39th. It won’t happen again.

Play KURT BUSCH TOP 5 FINISH (+350) for a chance to earn three and a half times your potential return, and even KURT BUSCH TOP 10 FINISH (-110) is a value play near even money.

Brad Keselowski Top-5 Finish (+170)

It seems like a lot of people are not talking about him, but Penske Racing driver Brad Keselowski is one of the four active drivers in the field with at least two checkered flags in his Cup career in Atlanta.

BRAD KESELOWSKI TOP 5 FINISH (+170) is a very strong value.

2021 Quaker State 400 head-to-head/matchup plays

KEVIN HARVICK (-120) over Martin Truex Jr. (+100)

Harvick is tied with Kurt Busch with three Cup wins in Atlanta. MTJ has never won at the historic track while turning in just five runs in the Top 5 with 351 laps led and four DNFs in his 23 career Cup starts. Truex also has a rather marginal 15.96 Average-Finish Position (AFP).

RYAN BLANEY (+105) over William Byron (-125)

Penske’s Blaney is the defending champ, taking checkers back in late March in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at AMS. While that’s all well and good, and a reason to back Blaney in and of itself, it’s Byron’s struggles at the track which drive this play.

Byron has made four career Cup starts here and finished inside the Top 10 on just one occasion. He has led just two laps while posting a very mediocre 19.00 AFP.

2021 Quaker State 400 NASCAR odds, picks and prediction

Looking at the odds for Sunday’s 2021 Quaker State 400, with NASCAR odds, picks and predictions.

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the  Quaker State 400 presented by Walmart Sunday for a green flag at approximately 3:35 p.m. ET. Below we analyze the 2021 Quaker State 400 odds and lines, with NASCAR picks and predictions based on the odds from BetMGM Sportsbook.

Penske Racing’s Ryan Blaney picked up the victory in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 in March in the first stop in Atlanta. Ford has been the dominant manufacturer in Atlanta, picking up the checkered flag in five consecutive Cup races.

2021 Quaker State 400: What you need to know

  • Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott, native of nearby Dawsonville, Ga., is on the pole. He hasn’t fared terribly well on what is his home track, going for no wins or top-5 finishes in his past four Cup starts in Atlanta with an Average-Finish Position (AFP) of 18.75.
  • Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson has burned up the track in Atlanta in his seven-career Cup starts. He hasn’t won, but he has two top-5 runs, four top-10 showings and a 12.14 AFP while leading 418 laps. He will go off sixth Sunday.
  • Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch has managed two wins with seven top-5 showings and 10 top-10 runs in 23 career Cup starts while turning in a 13.5 AFP. He starts on the outside of Row 1 Sunday.
  • Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick have the most active wins in the Cup Series at Atlanta, taking the checkered flag three times each.

KYLE LARSON (+225) is the chalk for Sunday’s race, and it isn’t even close. KYLE BUSCH (+750) has the next best odds, making Larson the overwhelming favorite. While he very much could win, where’s the value there?

I’d much rather play Busch or CHASE ELLIOTT (+800) for a much better payday. Sooner or later Larson has to cool off.

The defending champ RYAN BLANEY (+1000) is a pretty strong play, too. He just won on the track in late March, and he has two top-5 finishes with 68 laps led and a tremendous 13.67 AFP in his six career Cup runs. That’s third-best among all active drivers.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

KEVIN HARVICK (+900) has some rather long odds based on his history at the track, and he shouldn’t be forgotten about. He also leads all drivers with 1,348 laps led in his 31 career Cup starts.

The next closest driver is Kurt Busch with 804 laps led. That experience has to count for something, even though Harvick’s season hasn’t exactly gone according to plan.

2021 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 odds, picks and prediction

Looking at the odds for Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrop 500, with NASCAR odds, picks and predictions.

The NASCAR Cup Series moves to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. Below we analyze the 2021 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 NASCAR odds and lines, with NASCAR picks and predictions based on the odds from BetMGM Sportsbook.

2021 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500: What you need to know

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:15 a.m. ET.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick raced to a checkered flag in Atlanta June 7, edging out Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. Harvick led 151 of the 325 laps, with MTJ second in that category with 65 laps led.

  • Harvick has registered three wins and nine top-5 finishes in his 30 career Cup starts at the venerable track. Half of his 30 starts have resulted in finishes of 10th or better, and he leads all active drivers with 1,348 laps led. The next best is Kurt Busch at 803.
  • JGR’s Denny Hamlin is on the pole for Sunday’s race. He has just one win in his 21 Cup starts while only eight of his runs have resulted in a finish of 10th or better. His 17.33 Average-Finish Position (AFP) is 12th-best among active drivers with at least five Cup starts at the track.
  • Kyle Larson is back after a one-year hiatus from the circuit due to an off-track issue. While he has never won in six Cup starts in Atlanta, he is second to only Georgia native Chase Elliott with a 13.83 AFP. Three of his six starts have resulted in a top-10 run or better.
  • Speaking of Elliott, the Dawsonville, Ga., native has also never won at Atlanta, but he has four top-10 finishes in five career starts and he has never finished worse than 19th while leading 26 laps with a 10.0 AFP.

Who is going to win the 2021 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500?

HARVICK (+550) is the chalk, and rightly so. He’ll be out front frequently, and he will be searching for his third win in his last four Atlanta starts. He has also finished ninth or better in each of his past six Cup starts at the track.

A Ford has been to Victory Lane in four straight Atlanta races. Harvick has won twice in the past three runs, and Penske Racing’s BRAD KESELOWSKI (+700) also has two wins in the past four Cup races at the track.

Keselowski has just 12 Cup starts in Atlanta over the years, but he has the two trips to Victory Lane, four top-5 runs and eight top-10 showings with 135 laps led and a stellar 14.6 AFP in his runs.

Teammate JOEY LOGANO (+900) is also worth a look. While the latter has never won in Atlanta, he has 195 laps led in 14 Cup runs with a pair of top-5 showings and a 16.6 AFP. Logano was 10th last season in Atlanta, and he has been 12th or better in six of his past eight appearances at the track after some uneven performances earlier in this career.

2021 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 long-shot bet

TYLER REDDICK (+8000) made his first-career Cup start in Atlanta last season and finished a respectable 16th in his first go-around. Reddick started 24th in that race and will go off 29th Sunday. While I’d only go lightly on him for a straight-up win, he is a value at +210 FOR A TOP 10 FINISH.

And while he isn’t a true long-shot bet, his odds are rather moderate. KURT BUSCH (+2500) is a great value at this price. Not only is he tied with Harvick with three-career wins at this track, he was a solid sixth last season in Atlanta. Playing him straight-up for the win is fine, but I also like KURT BUSCH (+333) for a Top 5.
