The Houston Astros (69-60) and Baltimore Orioles (76-55) play the finale of a 4-game series on Sunday Night Baseball at Oriole Park at Camden Yards at 7:10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Astros vs. Orioles odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Astros lead 4-2

After taking the opener 6-0 Thursday, the Astros have dropped the next 2 games 7-5 and 3-2. 2B Jose Altuve hit his 18th homer of the season as he has homered in 2 straight games with hits in 7 of 8. The Astros maintain a 4½-game lead in the AL West.

The O’s have pulled within a half-game of the New York Yankees in the AL East as they’re battling to find consistency. They’re 11-9 and 16-14 over their last 20 and 30 games, respectively. SS Jackson Holliday had the big blow Saturday with a pinch-hit, 3-run double to lift the O’s.

Astros at Orioles projected starters

LHP Yusei Kikuchi vs. RHP Dean Kremer

Kikuchi (6-9, 4.37 ERA) makes his 27th start. He has a 1.29 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 10.5 K/9 in 138 IP with the Toronto Blue Jays and Astros.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER (3 R), 6 H, 1 BB, 7 K in 5-4 home victory Monday against Boston Red Sox
  • In 4 GS since joining Houston: 2-0, 2.42 ERA (22 1/3 IP, 6 ER), 1.03 WHIP, 12.5 K/9
  • Last 5 starts vs. Baltimore: 2-0, 2.81 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 31 K in 25 2/3 IP
  • Two starts vs. Baltimore this year: 1-0, 1.74 ERA (10 1/3 IP, 2 ER), 1.16 WHIP, 15 K

Kremer (6-9, 4.30 ERA) makes his 19th start. He has a 1.26 WHIP, 3.8 BB/9 and 8.5 K/9 in 96 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 7 K in 9-5 victory Tuesday at New York Mets

Astros at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Orioles 3, Astros 2

Moneyline

We have a matchup of 2 hot pitchers that have great numbers against the opposing team tonight. Houston is averaging 3.8 R/game over its last 10, and Baltimore is averaging 4.5 R/game during the stretch.

What really sticks out to me, though, is how well Kremer has fared against Houston. In all 3 starts, he went at least 7 IP and surrendered just 3 ER total. With the O’s 39-29 at home, I will side with the ORIOLES -110 in this pick ’em.

Run line/Against the spread

I’ll skip the RL and check out DEAN KREMER OVER 4.5 K’S (+125). He has 5+ K’s in 2 of his last 3 starts and in his last 2 GS against Houston.

Over/Under

It’s expected to be 83 degrees with an 8-mph breeze blowing out to left-center. I don’t expect that to become a factor because I’m expecting a low-scoring affair. The O’s are 3-7 O/U in their last 10, and Houston is 4-6.

Take the UNDER 8.5 (-105).

Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Houston Astros (69-59) and Baltimore Orioles (75-55) play Game 3 of their 4-game series Saturday. First pitch from Oriole Park at Camden Yards is set for 4:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Astros vs. Orioles odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Astros lead 4-1

Houston had their 4-game win streak over the Orioles snapped Friday night, blowing a 5-2 lead in the 8th inning. RHP Hunter Brown was saddled with a no-decision after being nearly flawless, allowing only a solo home run over 6 innings.  The Astros offense came from a 2-run home run from 2B Jose Abreu and a solo shot from SS Jeremy Pena.

Through 7 innings, it looked like the Orioles were going to drop their 5th straight game to the Astros and suffer their 6th loss in their last 8 games before late inning heroics. RF Anthony Santander hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 8th inning to propel them to a 7-5 victory. Baltimore also got a solo home run from CF Colton Cowser.

Astros at Orioles projected starters

LHP Framber Valdez vs. RHP Albert Suarez

Valdez (13-5, 3.20 ERA) makes his 23rd start. He has a 1.14 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 8.6 K/9 in 137 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 9 K in 2-0 victory against the Chicago White Sox Sunday
  • 2024 home splits: 6-3, 3.46 ERA (67 2/3 IP, 29 R (26 ER), 1.18 WHIP, 7.6 K/9 in 11 starts
  • 4 career regular-season starts vs. BAL: 1-0, 4.10 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 23 K in 26 1/3 IP

Suarez (6-4, 3.18 ERA) makes his 18th start and 26th appearance. He has a 1.29 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 7.3 K/9 in 96 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 0 ER, 7 H, 0 BB, 6 K in 4-2 victory against the Boston Red Sox Sunday
  • 2024 home splits: 3-1, 2.36 ERA (45 2/3 IP, 12 ER), 1.16 WHIP, 7.1 K/9 in 11 games
  • Only start vs Astros: Loss, 5 IP, 5 ER, 10 H, 3 BB, 3 K in 8-1 road loss on June 23

Astros at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 6, Orioles 2

Moneyline

PASS.

I like the Astros (-120) to bounce back Saturday afternoon. I believe they can cover the run line, so I’ll take the better odds and leave the moneyline alone.

Run line/Against the spread

BET ASTROS -1.5 (+132).

Despite the loss Friday night, the Astros have dominated this series against Baltimore. They’ve outscored the Orioles 38-20 over their 5 games thus far. That will continue Saturday afternoon with Valdez on the mound. This dude hasn’t lost since late June and shut down the Orioles (7 IP, 1 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, & 7 K) in his last start against them. Houston has dropped its team ERA nearly a full point since the All-Star break.

Meanwhile, the Orioles have gone in the opposite direction, their team ERA has risen a full point since the All-Star break. Suarez has not allowed an earned run in his last 3 starts, but this Astros team roughed him up earlier this season.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8.5 (-122).

The trends are pushing me towards the Under, and Vegas feels the same way. Valdez has allowed more than 2 earned runs just once in his last 7 starts. The Under has hit in both Valdez and Suarez last 3 starts.

Both teams are 6-4 against the Under in their last 10 games. .

Houston is 4-2 straight up and against the spread (ATS) in its last 6 games. It has fared well on the road, going 34-29 on the season. Houston is 65-62 ATS.

The Orioles were shut out Thursday for the first time since July 11. Despite sitting 2nd in the AL East, they have struggled over the last week, going 2-5. They are 37-29 at home and 71-58 ATS.

Astros at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 5, Orioles 3

Moneyline

BET ASTROS (-118).

The Astros are the far hotter team and have won Brown’s last 2 starts and 5 of his last 7. They have dominated Baltimore this season as well, winning the 4 games a combined 33-13. Houston has won 9 straight road games.

Baltimore’s Povich has lost 4 straight starts and struggled to find his footing in his first MLB season. The Orioles are 4-7 over their last 11 games and have lost 3 of their last 4 at home.

Considering the pitching differences and the recent trends, take ASTROS (-118).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

There’s not a ton of value here. The Astros as too risky as run-line favorites, having had 2 of their last 4 games end within a single run. Similarly, the Orioles are too expensive and not worth taking as run-line underdogs.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 9 (-114).

The Orioles have gone Under in 5 of their last 6 games and are 2-7 O/U in their last 9. They have scored 4 or fewer runs in 6 of those 9 contests. Baltimore is 1-2 O/U in Povich’s last 3 starts.

The Astros are 0-2 O/U in their last 2 games and 3-7 O/U in their last 10. They have trended Under all season long with a 50-73-4 O/U record. Houston is 1-3 O/U in Brown’s last 4 starts.

Take UNDER 9 (-114).

Astros at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Orioles 5, Astros 2

Moneyline

PASS.

The Orioles, with Burnes on the mound, are the better play here. But, their moneyline value isn’t worth the expensive tag on it. Take them as a run-line favorite for the better odds.

Run line/Against the spread

BET ORIOLES -1.5 (+128).

The Orioles are 3-2 straight up in their last 5 home games, and in each victory, they won by at least 2 runs. Baltimore is 32-33 ATS at home, which ranks in the top half of the league.

The Orioles are also 3-1 ATS in Burnes’ last 4 starts while also being 51-50 ATS as a favorite, the 3rd-best covering rate as a favorite in majors. The Astros have cooled off after an electric start to the month and have scored just 13 runs over their last 4 games.

Take ORIOLES -1.5 (+128).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8 (-105).

The Orioles are 2-6 O/U in their last 8 games, scoring 4 or fewer in 4 of their 5. Baltimore has limited teams to 5 or fewer in 5 straight games as well.

The Astros are 3-6 O/U in their last 9 games and are 50-72-4 O/U on the season. Houston has scored 3 or fewer in 4 of its last 8. Considering those trends, take UNDER 8 (-105).

Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Houston Astros (66-49) and Baltimore Orioles (70-44) meet Thursday to finalize a 3-game series in Charm City. First pitch from Oriole Park at Camden Yards is slated for 12:35 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Astros vs. Orioles odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Astros lead 2-0

The Astros have scored a combined 15 runs in taking the first 2 games of this series. Houston is 4-1 over its last 5 games and has scored 7-plus runs in each of those 4 wins.

The Orioles entered this series having won 4 consecutive games and 7 of their last 8. However, shaky pitching and an offense going 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position have dinged Baltimore in this set.

RHP Hunter Brown vs. RHP Dean Kremer

Brown (8-7, 4.07 ERA) makes his 22nd start of the season. He has a 1.29 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 10.0 K/9 through 117 1/3 IP.

Astros at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 7, Orioles 4

Moneyline

This pitching match-up swings things toward Houston. Look for the best value on the Run Line: PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

There is a big chance of rain in this one but also of an outward-blowing breeze. Kremer is much more of a fly-ball pitcher, while Brown gets a ton of ground balls. Kremer has also walked 4 batters in 2 of his last 4 starts and an extra walk and homer could be a toxic combination against an Astros lineup that owns an .802 OPS over its last 11 games.

Houston has been quite good on the road (35-24), and the Astros have won 5 get-away games in a row.

Roll with the inertia of this series, and BACK THE ASTROS -1.5 (+140).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

For the 2nd game in a row, the Over is a lean here, but wait out a better tag. Figure a decent amount of value on an Over 9.5 at +100.

PASS.

Astros at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Orioles 6, Astros 5

Moneyline

Both clubs figure as too far over their skis. Not that they are bad or average but that their current records are a bit of an overreach. The ‘Stros and O’s are would-be fades in a lot of potential match-ups. Against each other — with this pitching match-up — a PASS is advisable.

Run line/Against the spread

Baltimore would be a value play at -1.5 (+170). AVOID the play as listed.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

The Under was a value play in the opener and was only lost with the Houston comeback over the 8th and 9th innings.

Wednesday’s pitching match-up has us as bettors being dealt a different hand. We get Javier coming off back-to-back 100-pitch outings and being the overall beneficiary of a .268 batting average on balls in play. Baltimore closer Felix Bautista threw 30 pitches Tuesday and has thrown in 2 of the club’s last 3 games.

On an evening with the forecast calling for an outward breeze (Javier and the Houston bullpen are fly-ball pitchers), an extra double or home run could well end up on the box score. BACK THE OVER 9 (-115).

Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Houston Astros (64-49) and Baltimore Orioles (70-42) meet Tuesday to open a 3-game series between AL contenders. First pitch at Oriole Park at Camden Yards is slated for 7:05 p.m. ET (TBS). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Astros vs. Orioles odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting of 2023; the Orioles won last year’s series 4-3

The Astros’ offense has run hot and cold of late, but the ball club has managed a 12-6 mark since July 19. Houston has logged an .824 OPS at home and a .677 mark on the road over that stretch.

Baltimore has thus far enjoyed its best season since 1979 when the Orioles played .642 baseball en route to a World Series appearance. The O’s enter this series having won 4 consecutive games and 7 of their last 8.

Astros at Orioles projected starters

LHP Framber Valdez vs. RHP Grayson Rodriguez

Valdez (9-7, 3.07 ERA) makes his 22nd start of the year. He has a 1.07 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 9.4 K/9 through 135 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 9 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 BB, 7 K in 2-0 home win vs. Cleveland Guardians last Tuesday
  • 2023 road stats: 5-2, 4.11 ERA in 50 1/3 IP over 8 starts
  • Career vs. Orioles: 0-0, 3.65 ERA in 14 2/3 IP across 2 starts and 1 relief appearance
  • Makes his first start since no-hitting Cleveland last Tuesday with just 93 pitches, which was a major reversal of fortune: he had registered a 7.00 ERA and 1.67 WHIP over his 5 previous starts

Rodriguez (2-3, 6.09 ERA)is tabbed for his 15th start. He has a 1.50 WHIP, 3.8 BB/9 and 10.1 K/9 through 68 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 2/3 IP, 3ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 6 K in a 4-1 road loss vs. Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday
  • 2023 home stats: 1-2, 7.36 ERA in 33 IP through 7 starts
  • Has never faced Houston as a starter
  • Owns a 2.55 ERA and 0.79 WHIP over his last three starts

Astros at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Astros 4, Orioles 3

Moneyline

Both clubs figure as would-be fades in a lot of potential series. Against each other, with this pitching match-up, a PASS is advisable.

Run line/Against the spread

Rodriguez is facing a Houston offense that has been below-average against right-handed pitchers (.718 OPS). The host Orioles are a would-be lean with a likable Under play (see below), but the pricing here is not attractive on that Baltimore play.

AVOID.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

The Under has hit in 7 of Houston’s last 10 road games and is 6-2 across the last 8 Houston-Baltimore games.

Rodriguez has been undone by some shaky rates around the margins. Adding in a pair of rested bullpens, the UNDER 8 (+100) has some value.

Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Houston Astros (45-28) will go for the sweep of their three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles (23-50) Wednesday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. ET from Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Astros vs. Orioles odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Jose Urquidy is the projected starting pitcher for the Astros. He is 5-3 with a 3.65 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 7.8 K/9 and 1.6 BB/9 in 69 IP over 12 starts.

Urquidy has won four of his last seven starts, allowing more than three runs in that span just once. He has 7 IP in each of his last two starts, allowing a total of 5 ER while picking up 13 K. He has never faced the Orioles in his career.

RHP Thomas Eshelman is the projected starting pitcher for the Orioles. He is 0-0 with a 1.93 ERA. This season he has just one appearance, a June 18 start against Toronto, where he allowed 1 ER on 3 H and 1 BB with 3 K across 4 2/3 IP.

In his career against the Astros, he has pitched just 2/3 of an inning and gave up one hit but no runs.

  • Money line: Astros -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Orioles +165 (bet $100 to win $165)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Astros -1.5 (-125) | Orioles +1.5 (+105)
  • Over/Under: 9.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Astros 7, Orioles 3

Money line (ML)

The bullpen will play a big role in this game for the Orioles with Eshelman getting the start, which doesn’t bode well for Baltimore. The Astros have won seven of Urquidy’s last eight starts and have averaged 7 runs per game in that span.

However, with the money line as chalky as it is, I would PASS and instead bet on the spread.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Astros have covered the spread in seven of their last eight games when Urquidy starts, a trend that I think will continue on Wednesday night. He should be good for at least six or seven innings against a weaker Orioles lineup.

I like the ASTROS -1.5 (-125) tonight on the road.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total surprisingly went Under on Tuesday night when the Astros beat the Orioles 3-1. It was a strong pitching night for both sides, but Houston should bounce back with a better performance at the plate. The last two times they scored three or fewer runs in a game they came back with 14 runs and 7 runs scored the following day.

Bet the OVER 9.5 (-115) and hope the Astros carry the bulk of the weight by tagging Eshelman for a bunch of runs.

Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Houston Astros (44-28) and Baltimore Orioles (23-49) will continue their three-game series on Tuesday night, with first pitch from Camden Yards coming at 7:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Astros vs. Orioles odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Zack Greinke is the projected starting pitcher for the Astros. He is 7-2 with a 3.74 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 6.5 K/9 and 1.9 BB/9 in 91 1/3 IP over 15 starts.

In his last six starts, Greinke has three outings of at least eight innings with only one earned run allowed.

However, in his last two starts, he only pitched 8 2/3 innings combined and allowed seven total runs with just six strikeouts. In his career against the Orioles, he is 2-2 with a 5.32 ERA in nine games (seven starts).

RHP Jorge Lopez is the projected starting pitcher for the Orioles. He is 2-8 with a 5.95 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, 9.0 K/9 and 3.7 BB/9 in 65 IP over 14 starts.

The Orioles have lost six of Lopez’s last seven starts, as he’s allowed at least three runs in five of those seven games.

He hasn’t pitched more than five innings in any of his last three outings and has just three starts this season of more than five innings. In his one career start against the Astros, Lopez allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings.

Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:48 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Astros -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Orioles +165 (bet $100 to win $165)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Astros -1.5 (-125) | Orioles +1.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 9.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Prediction

Astros 7, Orioles 4

Money line (ML)

The Astros have been on a tear lately, winning their last eight games. The Orioles are trending in the opposite direction, dropping nine of their last 10, including their last three. They were crushed by Houston on Monday night, 10-2, and I think the Astros will take Game 2, as well.

Houston isn’t a great value on the money line, but make a small wager on the ASTROS (-200) to win outright.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

This is where you’ll find more upside with Houston. Eight of their last nine wins have come by at least two runs, going 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games.

Baltimore is just 4-6 ATS in that same span, which makes this a very clear trend. I like the ASTROS -1.5 (-125) to cover the spread and win fairly easily on the road with Greinke taking the mound.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over/Under is 9.5 runs tonight, and both of these teams have been hitting the Over pretty consistently. The total has gone Over in seven of Houston’s last eight, and in six of the Orioles’ last seven.

Bet the OVER 9.5 (+100) tonight, especially with Lopez on the mound for Baltimore.

Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Houston Astros (43-28) and Baltimore Orioles (23-48) open a three-game series Monday at 7:05 p.m. ET at Camden Yards. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Astros vs. Orioles odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Jake Odorizzi is the projected starting pitcher for the Astros. He is 1-3 with a 5.68 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 and 2.8 BB/9 over 25 1/3 IP spanning seven games (six starts).

Odorizzi tossed 4 scoreless innings of bulk relief in his last outing, Tuesday against the Texas Rangers.

LHP Keegan Akin is the projected starter for the Orioles. He is 0-2 with a 5.76 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 8.2 K/9 and 3.0 BB/9 in 29 2/3 IP over eight games (four starts).

Akin is making his fifth straight appearance as a starter. He coughed up 8 ER on 8 H and 3 BB in his last outing with 5 2/3 IP against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday.

Astros at Orioles odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:40 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Astros -160 (bet $160 to win $100) | Orioles +130 (bet $100 to win $130)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Astros -1.5 (-110) |  Orioles +1.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 10.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Astros 6, Orioles 4

Money line (ML)

The Astros head into this series on a seven-game win streak. The Houston offense has fueled the club going 16-4 over the last 20 games. Over that stretch, the Astros have averaged 6.65 runs per game on the strength of a .905 OPS.

Baltimore lost two of three games in a home series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Orioles pitching was tagged for 17 runs over the last two games of that series, and Baltimore now owns a 6.96 ERA since June 5.

The Houston offense leads the league with an .804 road OPS, but despite being plus-50 in run differential, the Astros are just 17-15 over 32 road tilts. The Astros are at their best against lefties and so are the Orioles. Tag the visitors with an advantage in the platoon category in Monday’s pitching matchup.

Both starting pitchers figure as better than what’s indicated by their surface ERAs. Odorizzi in particular has been hurt by a low 60.9% strand rate when runners are on base.

HOUSTON (-160) offers decent value.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The run-line odds bring this game into pick ’em territory. On a warm, humid evening with a breeze out to right-center field, and with a projected run total of 10.5, peg the ASTROS -1.5 (-110) as having enough value to include in a mix with the above ML play.

Example: 3/4-unit ML, 1/4-unit run line on the conservative side; 1/4-unit ML, 3/4-unit run line on the aggressive side,

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS on a well-made total.
