Tennessee pitcher Ashley Rogers records 11 strikeouts at Kentucky.

No. 7 Tennessee (32-5, 11-2 SEC) defeated No. 17 Kentucky 25-11-1 (7-6 SEC), 2-1, Friday at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky.

Friday’s contest was the first of a three-game series between the Lady Vols and Wildcats.

Lair Beautae went 3-for-4 in the contest for Tennessee, recording one home run, two RBIs and one run. The Lady Vols recorded six hits in the contest.

Ashley Rogers started and pitched eight innings for Tennessee. She allowed one run (earned), three hits, three walks, while recording 11 strikeouts.

First pitch for Saturday’s game No. 2 is slated for noon EDT. SEC Network will televise the contest with Mark Neeley (play-by-play) and Amanda Scarbrough (analyst) on the call.

Saturday’s game No. 2 will work with University of Kentucky athletic partners at the Kentucky Blood Center, where fans can donate blood to help save lives on-site at John Cropp Stadium.

Lady Vols defeat Texas A&M in extra innings

Tennessee softball defeats Texas A&M in extra innings.

No. 4 Tennessee (28-2, 8-1 SEC) defeated No. 25 Texas A&M (21-12, 4-6 SEC), 2-1 in 10 innings, Friday at Davis Diamond in College Station, Texas.

The Lady Vols ended a scoreless tie in the 10th inning with a pair of unearned runs. Kiki Milloy and Katie Taylor scored when Zaida Puni reached base on an error.

The Aggies pulled to within, 2-1, in the 10th inning. Allie Enright scored when Tennessee starter Ashley Rogers recorded a wild pitch.

Rogers (11-0) pitched 9.2 innings and allowed one run, one hit and seven walks. She recorded 11 strikeouts.

Freshman Karlyn Pickens recorded the final out of the contest to earn her second save of the season. She faced two batters and surrendered one hit.

Milloy and Taylor each recorded two hits each. Taylor’s double was the Lady Vols’ lone extra-base hit of the contest.

No. 7 Tennessee (18-1, 1-0 SEC) opened SEC-play with a 6-0 victory against Ole Miss (13-9, 0-1 SEC) Friday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

Lady Vols’ graduate student and starter Ashley Rogers (6-0) pitched a no-hitter against the Rebels, who had only three players reach base in the contest. Rogers surrendered two walks and Tennessee had one error.

Rogers recorded nine strikeouts in seven innings. The win is Tennessee’s 13th consecutive.

The Lady Vols recorded three hits, all home runs.

Kiki Milloy hit a grand slam in the third inning. She went 2-for-3 with two home runs, five RBIs and two runs.

Tennessee scored its other run on a solo home run by Zaida Puni in the fourth inning.

Lady Vols’ pitcher Ashley Rogers records 13 strikeouts in win versus Northwestern.

No. 13 Tennessee (3-0) ended its opening weekend of the 2023 season with a 6-0 victory against No. 8 Northwestern (2-1) Sunday at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida.

Kiki Milloy led off the game with a solo home run.

Tennessee extended its advantage to, 2-0, after freshman right fielder Taylor Pannell hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.

The Lady Vols added four runs in the sixth inning after shortstop Mackenzie Donihoo recorded a two-run double, scoring Katie Taylor and Giulia Koutsoyanopulos.

Milloy scored a third run on the play after an error by the Wildcats.

Ashley Rogers pitched a seven-inning complete game for the Lady Vols. She allowed seven hits and one walk, while recording 13 strikeouts.

Three Lady Vols earn preseason All-SEC honors

Three Lady Vols earn preseason All-SEC softball honors.

Kiki Milloy, Ashley Rogers and Zaida Puni have earned preseason All-SEC honors.

Milloy recorded a .362 batting average, 53 runs, 71 hits, 15 home runs and 12 doubles in 2022. The senior outfielder earned second-team All-SEC honors and was a second-team All-American.

Rogers recorded 12 wins and a 2.01 ERA last season. She pitched seven complete games, four shutouts and three saves in 25 contests.

Puni recorded nine home runs and recorded 25 RBIs in conference games last season. She finished the season with 52 hits, 14 home runs and 53 RBIs.

Opening day for the Lady Vols is slated for Feb. 10 versus Howard. First pitch will take place at 6:30 p.m. EST in Clearwater, Florida.

Two Lady Vols named to the USA Softball watch list.

Two Tennessee student-athletes have been named to the USA Softball National Player of the Year watch list.

Graduate student pitcher Ashley Rogers and senior outfielder Kiki Milloy were named to the list for a second consecutive year.

Both players earned All-America honors last season.

Rogers recorded 12 wins, a 2.01 ERA, three saves, seven complete games, four shutouts and 125 strikeouts in 2022.

Milloy recorded a .362 batting average, 15 home runs, 53 RBIs, 53 runs, 71 hits, 12 doubles and a .673 slugging percentage last season.

The Lady Vols are projected to finish second in the Southeastern Conference coaches preseason  poll. Opening day for the Lady Vols is Feb. 10 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida.

Ashley Rogers returning to Tennessee

Pitcher Ashley Rogers returning to Tennessee.

Lady Vols’ pitcher Ashley Rogers will return to Tennessee for a fifth season in 2023.

Rogers was injured for a portion of the 2022 campaign. She will take advantage of an extra year due to the coronavirus pandemic, which prematurely ended the 2020 season.

The right-handed pitcher and Athens, Tennessee native has etched her name throughout the Tennessee softball record book during three full seasons.

Her career earned run average of 1.68 ranks third in program history. Rogers’ 59 victories rank seventh, while 633 strikeouts and 19 career shutouts both are fifth in Lady Vols’ program history.

Rogers held opposing hitters to a .157 batting average and averages 8.95 strikeouts for seven innings. She holds second place in both categories, trailing only Monica Abbott.

Tennessee’s Ashley Rogers pitched a perfect game Saturday in the Lady Vols Classic at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

The Lady Vols defeated East Carolina, 8-0, in five innings.

Rogers (6-5) struck out 12 of the 15 Pirates she faced.

Tennessee had eight hits in the contest. Ivy Davis and Ashley Morgan each had two-run home runs against East Carolina (19-27, 2-10 AAC).

Davis also had an RBI single before Kiki Milloy ended the game in the fifth inning, driving in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Kaitlin Parsons went 2-for-2 with a run scored and three stolen bases for the Lady Vols.

In its second game Saturday, Tennessee (32-13, 11-6 SEC) defeated UNC Greensboro, 4-2.

The Spartans (32-13, 12-0 SoCon) led 2-0 when Jordan Gonthrom had a two-run home run.

Zaida Puni hit a three-run home run. Davis drove in the final run of the game with an RBI groundout in the fifth inning.

Erin Edmoundson (18-5) pitched a complete game and struck out 10. She yielded two runs and six hits.

Two Lady Vols named to the preseason All-SEC team.

Two Lady Vols have been named to the All-SEC preseason team.

Outfielder Kiki Milloy and pitcher Ashley Rogers received preseason All-SEC honors.

Both players have received a plethora of preseason honors as they were named to the D1Softball.com All-America Team and were included on the 50-player watch list for Team USA Player of the Year.

In 2021, both Milloy and Rogers were named second-team All-America by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Milloy led UT in hits (59), runs (50), stolen bases (37) and OPS (1.103). Her 37 steals led the SEC and also ranked third in the nation.

Rogers led the conference in ERA (1.32) and opponents’ batting average (.132).

The Athens, Tennessee native finished 2021 with 26 victories and 296 strikeouts.

The Lady Vols begin its 2022 season Friday in Miami, Florida. Tennessee will play a doubleheader against UNC Greensboro and Maryland in the Felsberg Invitational hosted by FIU.

A pair of Lady Vols’ softball players received preseason All-America honors.

Tennessee senior pitcher Ashley Rogers and junior outfielder Kiki Milloy were recognized with preseason All-America honors from D1 Softball.

Rogers led the Southeastern Conference in ERA (1.32) and opponents’ batting average (.132) last season. Her 296 strikeouts ranked fifth in the nation in 2021. She won 26 games last year and that mark was seventh-best in the country.

Milloy, Tennessee’s starting center fielder in 2021, led the team in OPS (1.103), hits (59) and runs scored (50),

She led the SEC with 37 stolen bases, a mark that was sixth in the nation.

Both Tennessee players were named All-America last year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. They were also named to USA Softball’s Top 50 Player of the Year Watch List.

Rogers and Milloy both received preseason recognition from Softball America and and Extra Inning Softball for top-100 rankings.
