Arizona at Washington State picks and predictions

Prediction

Washington State 38, Arizona 27

Moneyline

Arizona has not beaten Washington State since 2017 and has not won in Pullman since 2014. The Wildcats have allowed an average of 37 points in their last 2 losses, while the Cougars scored 31 or more in their first 4 games before being held to 17 last week, although that was the highest total a team has scored against UCLA.

Washington State allows an average of 25.4 points per game but opponents have scored between 21 and 25 in 4 of 5 games.

Arizona is 1-2 on the road while Washington State is unbeaten at home.

Expect the Cougars to win but PASS on the moneyline at -275. That isn’t worth the action unless you include it as a leg of a parlay bet.

Against the spread

Arizona is 5-1 ATS and 3-0 ATS as the underdog, although the smallest spread as the underdogs it has faced is 9 points. Thus far, the Wildcats’ 3 losses have been by no more than 7 points.

The Cougars’ 1 conference win was by 3 points but they won all 3 non-conference games by at least 19.

BET WASHINGTON STATE -7.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Arizona’s only game to hit the Over was last week’s loss to USC. Washington State has had 3 of 5 games hit the Over. In all 3, the total went at least into the 60s.

BET OVER 58.5 (-105).

Arizona at Washington State picks and predictions

Prediction

Arizona 72, Washington State 63

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on the Arizona (-210) moneyline play in this one.

Against the spread

LEAN ARIZONA -5.5 (-105).

Arizona has a fast-paced offense, averaging more than 83 PPG going up against a Washington State defense that ranks 273rd in the nation for opponent field goal percentage (45%).

In their earlier matchup this season, the Cougars got the best of the Wildcats on their home floor, beating them by 13 and covering as 12-point road underdogs. Expect Arizona to be looking for revenge in this one as they make a push for the top 5.

The favorite is 19-7 ATS in the last 26 meetings between these 2 teams and the road team is 8-3 in their last 11 meetings.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 145.5 (-115).

The Under is 6-0 in the Wildcats’ last 6 games following a ATS win, 4-1 in their last 5 following a straight-up win and 6-1 in their last 7 against a team with a losing straight-up record. The Under is also 5-2 in their last 7 games overall.

For the Cougars, the Under is 4-1 in their last 5 overall. It is 11-4 in their last 15 games against a team with a winning straight-up record and 19-7 in their last 26 following a straight-up loss.

Arizona at Washington State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Arizona Wildcats at Washington State Cougars odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Arizona Wildcats (1-9, 1-6 Pac-12) visit the Washington State Cougars (5-5, 4-3) Friday at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Wash. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Arizona vs. Washington State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Wildcats edged California 10-3 at home Nov. 6, and put up a strong fight against Utah in a 38-29 loss at home last Saturday, covering the spread in both games. In fact, Arizona has covered four a in row, and three of the past four games have been decided by one score. This is a team out of bowl consideration, but they’re not giving up.

The Cougars were on the short end of a 38-24 loss at Oregon last week. It’s their second loss in the past three games as they slipped to .500. Wazzu still needs one more win to become bowl eligible, a feat in a trying year which saw the head coach and some staff members fired for refusal of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Arizona at Washington State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Washington State 29, Arizona 21

Money line

Washington State (-700) will cost you seven times your potential return. That’s just too much risk for not enough reward.

The Cougars will win and become bowl eligible, but you can’t risk this much for such a meager profit, especially since the Wildcats have been a thorn in the side of their opponents lately.

PASS.

Against the spread

ARIZONA +14.5 (-110) is a strong play catching two-plus touchdowns on the road. Yes, the overall record is putrid, and the possibility of a bowl was lost back in October, but the Wildcats keep plugging away, trying to get better every week. They enter on a 4-0 ATS run, with three of those games decided by just one score.

Over/Under

The UNDER 52.5 (-110) is the lean, ever so slightly. You can look to the series trends, which show Over in each of the past five meetings, and five of the past six battles on the Palouse. But these programs are completely transformed from those days. Former head coach Mike Leach and his Air Raid offense are gone, and so is recent head coach Todd Rolovich, for that matter. Arizona has struggled to put points on the board this year, too.

The Wildcats have hit the Under in 11 of the past 16 as underdogs, and the Cougs have cashed the Under in six of the past eight overall, and five of the previous seven Pac-12 games. Those are way more pertinent trends.
