Arizona Coyotes at Ottawa Senators odds, picks, and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Arizona Coyotes at Ottawa Senators odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Arizona Coyotes (18-36-4) play the fourth contest of a five-game East Coast road trip against the Ottawa Senators (21-32-5) at the Canadian Tire Centre Monday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Coyotes vs. Senators odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Coyotes have come alive lately and have won four of their last five games while rolling up 24 goals across the win four victories. That includes an 8-5 victory in Arizona against the Senators March 5.

The Senators saw a modest two-game win streak snapped Saturday when the visiting Chicago Blackhawks doubled them up 6-3. The Sens have posted a 2-6-1 record in the past nine games at CTC, averaging just 1.89 goals per game during the stretch.

Coyotes at Senators odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Coyotes +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Senators -170 (bet $170 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Coyotes +1.5 (-190) | Senators -1.5 (+145)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -125 | U: +100)

Coyotes at Senators projected goalies

Scott Wedgewood (9-13-3, 3.17 GAA, .906 SV%) vs. Filip Gustavsson (3-9-1, 3.66 GAA, .896 SV%)

Wedgewood was the backstop in the first meeting with the Senators on March 5. He allowed 5 goals on 46 shots to pick up the victory as he received 8 goals of offensive support.

Gustavsson has dropped six consecutive starts, with his last victory coming Nov. 13 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He has allowed 3 or more goals in six of his past seven outings.

Coyotes at Senators odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Coyotes 5, Senators 3

Money line

The COYOTES (+135) don’t win very many games on the road, but they’re a tremendous value here.

Arizona has been red-hot lately, which isn’t something you get to say very often. It will stay hot and pick up the victory against a Senators side which has no business being favored by this much against anybody.

Against the spread

The Coyotes +1.5 (-190) will cost you nearly two times your potential return. That’s just way too expensive, and they’re a much better play straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-125) is the best play on the board in this battle between cellar dwellers. These teams combined for 13 total goals in Arizona March 5, more than doubling the total of 5.5 goals in the first meeting.

The Over has hit in the past two for the Sens, with Ottawa averaging 3.7 goals per game in the previous three outings. The Over is 3-1 in the previous four contests for Arizona, with the offense averaging a gaudy 6.0 GPG during the stretch.

Colorado Avalanche at Arizona Coyotes odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Colorado Avalanche at Arizona Coyotes odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (40-10-4) visit the Arizona Coyotes (14-35-4) Thursday at Gila River Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Coyotes odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

Colorado scored three third-period goals in a 5-3 home win vs. the New York Islanders Tuesday. The Avs have started slowly in a couple of games recently, but they always seem to roar back. They’re 8-2-0 in the last 10 games.

The Coyotes have been sneaky tough lately, winning two of their last four. So while the records have quite the contrast, if you sleep on Arizona, you might leave town with an “L.” RW Clayton Keller led the way with 5 goals and 6 assists in 11games last month.

Avalanche at Coyotes odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:29 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Avalanche -400 (bet $400 to win $100) | Coyotes +300 (bet $100 to win $300)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Avalanche -2.5 (+115) | Coyotes +2.5 (-145)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -102 | U: -122)

Avalanche at Coyotes projected goalies

Darcy Kuemper (27-6-2, 2.47 GAA, .919 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Karel Vejmelka (7-21-1, 3.51 GAA, .900 SV%, 1 SO)

Kuemper had a phenomenal February with a 5-1-1 record, a 1.98 GAA and a .938 SV% across seven starts. He lost to these Coyotes 3-2 in a shootout Feb. 1, saving 22 of 24 shots.

Vejmelka, Scott Wedgewood’s backup, will reportedly get the nod in net Thursday. Vejmelka is 1-7 in his last eight starts, and is coming off a 5-3 home loss to the Los Angeles Kings Feb. 19, surrendering 5 goals on 39 shots. The rookie lost to the Avs 5-0 at home Jan. 15, yielding 5 goals on 32 shots.

Avalanche at Coyotes odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Coyotes 3

Money line

While the Avalanche (-400) only have 3 losses in their last 21 games, risking four times your return is not wise.

PASS and look to the spread.

Against the spread

PHOENIX +2.5 (-145) is the best bet on the board here – considering how well it has been playing. The Coyotes beat the Avs 3-2 in a shootout the last time the two met back on Feb. 1 in Denver.

Plus, the Coyotes only have been beaten by 2 or more goals once in the last 10 games. The Avs are priced based on their reputation and not how they have been playing.

Over/Under

Go for a slight lean to the OVER 6.5 (-102).

The Avalanche have posted 3.5 goals per game in their last 10 games, while the Coyotes have scored 2.8 goals per game in their last 10. The juice has shifted to the Under (-122), so maybe wait until closer to puck drop to see if the line drops 5.5.

Minnesota Wild at Arizona Coyotes odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Minnesota Wild at Arizona Coyotes odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Minnesota Wild (8-3-0) travel to meet the Arizona Coyotes (1-10-1) Wednesday at Gila River Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Wild vs. Coyotes odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Wild streak in with three consecutive victories, netting five goals in each of the outings. Minnesota is coming off a 5-2 win over the New York Islanders Sunday, its third consecutive 5-goal game and third consecutive Over result.

The Coyotes are looking to start a streak. Arizona finally picked up a win as underdogs at home against the expansion Seattle Kraken Saturday, 5-4. The Over result snapped a 4-0 run for the Under.

Wild at Coyotes odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:40 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Wild -210 (bet $210 to win $100) | Coyotes +170 (bet $100 to win $170)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Wild -1.5 (+122) | Coyotes +1.5 (-155)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Wild at Coyotes projected goalies

Kaapo Kahkonen (1-1-0, 3.63 GAA, .860 SV%) vs. Karel Vejmelka (0-7-1, 2.84 GAA, .913 SV%)

Kahkonen allowed just 2 goals on 21 shots last time out against the New York Islanders Sunday, so he is being rewarded with another start in this very favorable matchup.

Vejmelka was tagged for 2 goals on 2 shots in less than a minute against the Seattle Kraken Saturday. It was a rare poor showing, as he had allowed 3 or fewer goals in each of his previous six appearances. Offensive support has been the issue for Vejmelka, as the Coyotes have just 2 goals across the three games before the Kraken appearance.

Wild at Coyotes odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Wild 4, Coyotes 1

Money line

The Wild (-220) will cost you more than two times your potential return, and there is just no value there.

AVOID, and look to the puck line for better value.

Against the spread

The WILD -1.5 (+122) at plus money is a good bet. Minnesota has won six straight meetings against the lowly Coyotes, and each of the victories was by 3 or more goals. That streak should continue here, as the Coyotes have had tremendous difficulty lighting the lamp. Arizona ranks dead-last with 1.3 goals per game, while also ranking last with 4.0 goals per game allowed.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (-110) is worth a look due to Arizona’s power outage on offense. Minnesota should be able to score frequently on lowly Arizona, although Vejmelka will keep the home side in the game. The Under is 5-1 in Minnesota’s last six on the road, while cashing in four of the past five overall for Arizona.

Vegas Golden Knights at Arizona Coyotes odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Arizona Coyotes odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Vegas Golden Knights (35-12-2) play the second of a two-game set with the Arizona Coyotes (22-24-5) Saturday with a 10 p.m. ET puck drop at Gila River Arena. Below, we analyze the Golden Knights-Coyotes odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Golden Knights were shut out in the front end of the two-game set, losing 3-0 Friday. The loss snapped a franchise-record 10-game win streak, and Vegas had averaged 4.5 goals per game during the span.

The Coyotes snapped a two-game losing streak with their win Friday, and it was their first win at home since April 17. Despite the win, the Coyotes are still 3-9 across the past 12 games overall.

Golden Knights at Coyotes: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Golden Knights -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Coyotes +175 (bet $100 to win $175)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Golden Knights -1.5 (+120) | Coyotes +1.5 (-145)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Golden Knights at Coyotes: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury (22-10-0, 2.08 GAA, .927 SV%, 5 SO) vs. Darcy Kuemper (9-10-2, 2.55 GAA, .907 SV%, 2 SO)

Fleury has rattled off victories in five consecutive outings, including a 14-save shutout in a 1-0 win over the Coyotes on April 11 in Vegas. He is 3-0-0 with a 0.67 GAA and .962 SV% with two shutouts against Arizona this season.

Kuemper allowed three goals on 30 shots last time out in a loss to the San Jose Sharks.

He has won just two of his six starts since returning from the injured list after a five-week absence, but one of his wins was a shutout April 24 in Los Angeles. He is 1-3-0 with a 2.77 GAA and .904 SV% in four outings vs. VGK this season.

Golden Knights at Coyotes: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Coyotes 2

Money line (ML)

The Golden Knights (-200) will cost you two times your potential return, and that’s just too expensive, especially for a road team. And we just saw on Friday that the favorite doesn’t always come through.

AVOID.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+120) are a better value on the road laying the goal and a half, and they covered the puck line in seven of the past eight wins.

Look for VGK to have a bounce-back game, as they haven’t lost two in a row in regulation since March 8-10 in Minnesota.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-115) is the way to go despite an Under result on Friday. The Over has connected in 14 of the past 20 for the Coyotes, and seven of the past eight in games when working on no rest.

The Over is 4-1 in the past five for the Golden Knights, while hitting in four of the past five on the road, too.

Arizona Coyotes at San Jose Sharks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Arizona Coyotes at San Jose Sharks NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Arizona Coyotes (21-22-5) play the first game of a two-game set against the San Jose Sharks (18-24-5) Monday with a 10:30 p.m. ET puck drop at SAP Center. Below, we analyze the Coyotes-Sharks odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Coyotes kicked off a three-game California road trip with a 4-0 shutout win behind G Darcy Kuemper against the Los Angeles Kings as the Under (5.5) connected. The last time they faced the Sharks they also won 4-0 March 27, and they swept a two-game set in Arizona by outscoring San Jose 9-2.

The Sharks were doubled up by a 6-3 score Saturday against the Minnesota Wild. They have posted an 0-7-1 mark across their past eight outings and scored 2 or fewer goals in seven of those contests.

Coyotes at Sharks: Odds, spread and lines

  • Against the spread/ATS: Coyotes -1.5 (+220) | Sharks +1.5 (-275)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Coyotes at Sharks: Projected starting goalies

Darcy Kuemper (9-9-2, 2.38 GAA, .912 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Martin Jones (15-12-3, 3.26 GAA, .896 SV%, 1 SO)

Kuemper won two of his four starts since returning from a five-week absence due to injury. His best outing was last time out in Los Angeles when he earned his second shutout of the season with 26 saves.

Jones was pulled after one period against Minnesota, as he allowed 3 goals on 8 shots. He had lost five straight starts before getting the no-decision Saturday and was pulled in three of his last six outings. Jones is 1-2-0 with a 4.58 GAA and .854 SV% in three starts against Arizona this season.

Coyotes at Sharks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Coyotes 4, Sharks 2

Money line (ML)

The COYOTES (-110) are the pick in this coin-flip game. They have the sharper goaltenders, and the Sharks have really struggled to score lately.

That’s not a good combination for the home side.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The COYOTES -1.5 (+220) are worth playing lightly, as Jones and backup Josef Korenar have both been very giving when in the blue ice for the Sharks.

Arizona covered the puck line last time out, and five of its past seven wins also came by 2 or more goals.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-110) is also a good small-unit play. The Over has connected in five of the past seven head-to-head meetings.

The Over is 6-2-1 in San Jose’s past nine at home, including 5-0 in its past five games as a home underdog.

Arizona Coyotes at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Arizona Coyotes at Colorado Avalanche NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Arizona Coyotes (19-18-5) travel to meet the Colorado Avalanche (28-9-4) Monday with a 9 p.m. ET puck drop at Ball Arena. Below, we analyze the Coyotes-Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Coyotes came up short in Sunday’s game at the Vegas Golden Knights, losing 1-0 as G Adin Hill took a hard-luck loss. The Coyotes won three road games in a row from April 2-5, but they have dropped their past three away from home. This will be their eighth consecutive road game.

The Avalanche swept a two-game set on the road against the Anaheim Ducks, and they have won seven of their past eight outings. That includes a 9-3 victory against the Coyotes in the most recent meeting between these teams March 31 in Denver.

Coyotes at Avalanche: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Coyotes +290 (bet $100 to win $290) | Avalanche -350 (bet $350 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Coyotes +1.5 (+115) | Avalanche -1.5 (-140)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Coyotes at Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Adin Hill (7-7-1, 2.89 GAA, .908 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Philipp Grubauer (24-8-1, 2.00 GAA, .919 SV%, 5 SO)

Hill turned aside 28 of the 29 shots he faced Sunday. He has been doing the heavy lifting with Darcy Kuemper injured and rookie Ivan Prosvetov serving as the backup.

Grubauer leads the NHL in shutouts, and he continues to set a new career-high every time he wins. He has looked Vezina Trophy-like this season, although he was punished by the Minnesota Wild in a pair of games last week while allowing 11 goals on just 43 shots.

Grubauer is 4-1-0 with a 1.98 GAA and .908 SV% in five starts against the Coyotes this season.

Coyotes at Avalanche: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Coyotes 2

Money line (ML)

The Avalanche (-350) will cost you three and a half times your potential return, and even though the Avs pounded the Coyotes by a 9-3 score in the most recent meeting, the risk is just too great here.

PASS.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

AVALANCHE -1.5 (-140) is a strong play on home ice against the skidding Coyotes. Arizona also has the tough turnaround after a loss in Vegas Sunday with travel and another marquee opponent less than a day later.

The Coyotes are just 1-8 in their past nine against a team with a winning record.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 6 (+100) is the play at even money.

The Over has cashed in 10 of the last 14 games for the Avs while hitting in nine of the past 12 for the Coyotes. The Over is also 6-1 in Arizona’s past seven as an underdog, and 4-1 in its past five against winning teams.

The Over is also 7-3 in the past 10 meetings in this series.

Arizona Coyotes at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Arizona Coyotes at Colorado Avalanche NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Arizona Coyotes (16-14-5) travel to meet the Colorado Avalanche (22-8-4) Wednesday for a 9:30 p.m. ET puck drop at Ball Arena. Below, we analyze the Coyotes-Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Coyotes enter on a three-game win streak, including a 4-0 shutout of the San Jose Sharks in Arizona Saturday in their most recent showing. A 5-4 shootout win over the Avalanche as huge underdogs kicked off the win streak.

The Avalanche streak into this game without a loss in regulation since March 8, which just happened to be at home against the Coyotes. They’re 9-0-2 across the impressive stretch, and they enter play just one point back of first place in the West Division.

Coyotes at Avalanche: Odds, spread and lines

  • Money line: Coyotes +225 (bet $100 to win $225) | Avalanche -275 (bet $275 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Coyotes +1.5 (-115) | Avalanche -1.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Coyotes at Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Adin Hill (4-3-1, 2.44 GAA, .920 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Philipp Grubauer (21-7-1, 1.74 GAA, .929 SV%, 5 SO)

Hill has rolled to three consecutive victories, allowing a total of 6 goals during the span. That includes a 5-4 shootout win over the Avs March 23. He is coming off a 34-save shutout against the Sharks at home Saturday.

Grubauer has already set a career-high with 21 victories this season. His previous best was 18 wins in each of the past two campaigns. He has been particularly effective in March, posting 11 wins across 13 starts and one relief appearance.

Coyotes at Avalanche: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Coyotes 2

Money line (ML)

The Avalanche (-275) are just too expensive to bet straight up, as they will cost you nearly three times your potential return. Over the long haul that’s not a winning formula.

PASS.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (-105) are worth playing rather than the expensive money line. Yes, Hill is on a three-game heater, including a win over Colorado; however, Grubauer’s overall body of work is much more impressive, and the Avalanche are averaging 4.89 goals per game across their past nine outings.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-110) is the play, as the Avs are going for nearly 5 markers per night across their past nine outings.

In the most recent meetings in Arizona March 22-23, the Over connected both times. The Colorado offense has hit its stride, and not even the red-hot Hill will offer much resistance.

San Jose Sharks at Arizona Coyotes odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s San Jose Sharks at Arizona Coyotes NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The San Jose Sharks (13-14-4) begin a two-game set on the road against the Arizona Coyotes (14-14-5) Friday at Gila River Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Sharks-Coyotes odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Coyotes and Sharks are fifth and seventh, respectively, in the West Division. The two teams opened the season with a two-game set in the desert, which they split 1-1; the Sharks won the first meeting 4-3 in a shootout, and the ‘Yotes won 5-3 two nights later.

The Sharks just swept a two-game miniseries against the Los Angeles Kings on home ice. It was only the second time this season they’ve won at least two games in a row. The Coyotes are coming off a 5-4 shootout win over the Colorado Avalanche, but they’re 2-4-2 in their last eight games while being outscored 26-15.

  • Against the spread/ATS: Sharks +1.5 (-275) | Coyotes -1.5 (+225)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Sharks at Coyotes: Projected starting goalies

Martin Jones (10-6-2, .902 SV%, 3.23 GAA) vs. Adin Hill (2-3-1, .906 SV%, 2.97 GAA)

Jones started both halves of the two-game set against the Kings and is 3-0-1 in his last four outings since March 13. He went 1-1-0 with 8 goals allowed on a total of 61 shots in the two games against the Coyotes to start the season.

Hill allowed 4 goals on 39 shots in a win over the Avalanche Tuesday. It was his first victory in five starts since stopping all 14 shots he faced in a relief appearance against the Anaheim Ducks in his Feb. 24 season debut.

Sharks at Coyotes: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Sharks 5, Coyotes 3

Money line (ML)

The SHARKS (+100) are the play as even-money road underdogs with a considerable edge in the goaltending battle. The Coyotes continue to ride their third-string goaltender with Antti Raanta (undisclosed) and Darcy Kuemper (lower body) both on injured reserve.

The Sharks also have the edge in both Corsi For percentage and scoring chance for at 5-on-5 play. Discipline and penalty killing have been issues, but they’ve shown some recent improvement when down a man and have killed 11 of their last 12 shorthanded situations.

Against the spread (ATS)

Four of the Coyotes’ last five losses were by multi-goal margins. Four of the Sharks’ six wins this month were by 2 or more goals.

Back the SHARKS -1.5 (+260) on the alternate puck line for proper value.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-115) is seemingly a lock with Hill back in net for the slumping Coyotes, and I’d also give a long look at OVER 6.5 (+135) on the alternate line.

Jones has allowed just 5 goals over his last four games, but he had previously allowed 16 goals while going 1-2-1 over a five-game stretch.

This one won’t be stolen by a goalie.

Colorado Avalanche at Arizona Coyotes odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Colorado Avalanche at Arizona Coyotes NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Colorado Avalanche (20-8-2) wrap up a two-game set Tuesday against the Arizona Coyotes (13-14-5) with a 10 p.m. ET puck drop at Gila River Arena. Below, we analyze the Avalanche-Coyotes odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

  • Money line: Avalanche -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Coyotes +210 (bet $100 to win $210)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Avalanche -1.5 (+110) | Coyotes +1.5 (-135)

Avalanche at Coyotes: Projected starting goalies

Jonas Johansson (0-5-1, 3.79 GAA, .884 SV%) vs. Adin Hill (1-3-1, 2.78 GAA, .908 SV%)

Johansson, acquired from the Buffalo Sabres over the weekend, goes from the basement of the NHL to near the penthouse. He will work as Philipp Grubauer‘s understudy.

Hill will get a chance to shine after Antti Raanta was roughed up in a 5-1 loss at home to the Avalanche in the front end of the back-to-back. He has allowed 3 goals in each of his four starts. Unfortunately for Hill, the Coyotes have mustered just 4 total goals of support in those starts.

Avalanche at Coyotes: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Coyotes 5, Avalanche 4

Money line (ML)

The COYOTES (+210) came up short in the opener against Grubauer, but Johansson will be looking to get acclimated, and it could be a bumpy road in his first start in a Colorado sweater.

Hill has deserved a much better fate for the home side, and the offense ‘should’ finally be able to break out against a mediocre goaltender at the other end.

Against the spread (ATS)

If you’re not feeling them to win straight up, back the COYOTES +1.5 (-135).

Regardless of the backstop situation, they’re certainly not a bad play for a little insurance on the puck line. Personally, I rarely play underdogs on the PL, but it makes plenty of sense in this particular instance. Arizona won’t get its doors blown off like it did in the front end of this two-game set Monday.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-105) is a solid play in this one. Under bettors swallowed a bitter pill Monday, as Avalanche W Joonas Donskoi bagged two late third-period goals to flip the Under to an Over. We won’t need any late heroics here, as the total should be well Over, and early on.

Colorado Avalanche at Arizona Coyotes odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Colorado Avalanche at Arizona Coyotes NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Colorado Avalanche (19-8-2) hit the road Monday for the first half of a two-game set against the Arizona Coyotes (13-13-5) with a 10 p.m. ET puck drop at Gila River Arena. Below, we analyze the Avalanche-Coyotes odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

  • Money line: Avalanche -225 (bet $225 to win $100) | Coyotes +185 (bet $100 to win $185)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Avalanche -1.5 (+120) | Coyotes +1.5 (-140)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Avalanche at Coyotes: Projected starting goalies

Philipp Grubauer (18-7-0, 1.74 GAA, .929 SV%, 5 SO) vs. Antti Raanta (5-3-2, 3.11 GAA, .916 SV%)

Grubauer streaks in with six consecutive victories across five starts and one relief appearance. Nobody is hotter between the pipes right now, as two of those starts finished as shutouts, including Saturday on home ice against the Minnesota Wild. He has been strong against the Coyotes, too, going 2-1-0 with a .887 SV% but an impressive 1.97 GAA over three starts.

Raanta was outstanding last time out, stopping 27 of the 28 shots he faced on the road against the Anaheim Ducks Saturday. He has allowed three or fewer goals in three straight outings and in four of his past five games. Raanta has been decent against the Avalanche with a 1-1-1 record, 2.98 GAA and .931 SV% in two starts and a relief appearance.

Avalanche at Coyotes: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Coyotes 1

Money line (ML)

The Avalanche (-225) are a little too expensive for my liking, especially for a money line bet on the road. My personal limit is generally -180, with few exceptions.

AVOID, and look to the puck line instead.

Against the spread (ATS)

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+120) are a better value at plus-money laying the goal and a half. Grubauer has been white-hot lately, and the Coyotes will have difficulty solving him.

The wager comes with some risk, as three of the past four head-to-head meetings have been 1-goal games; however, Colorado is on a six-game winning streak, including five straight victories by 2 or more goals, and four straight by 3 or more goals.

A small-unit AVALANCHE -2.5 (+230) play on the alternate spread isn’t out of line, either.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-120) is the play here, especially with Grubauer in the crease.

Yes, the Over is 3-0 in the past three for Colorado, but that’s mostly due to the offense. The Avs have scored 6.33 goals per game during the span; however, Raanta has held them at bay somewhat this season.

The Under is 6-3 in Grubauer’s previous nine starts.
